  1. Yep, you can't risk walking to the blue line. There are black people on the way there. Most of them will look at you, and a couple might even say hi to you.
  2. If you don't mind walking a few blocks on each end, Blue Line is the easiest way to get there.
  3. In 2010, there were no women's games on the same day as the men's knockout round, so the start times could be staggered. Don't know why it was different this year, but with six games being played today in two arenas, no staggering of start times was possible.
  4. Less than 24 hours would not be fair to the team playing two days in a row. More than 24 hours would have the game ending very late local time.
  5. OK, there are women's games scheduled tomorrow, so tomorrow they have to play two games at the same time, and since the winners of those games are playing the next day, they can't schedule one of those any earlier in the day.
  6. Choke implies that you are capable of winning but don't. I really don't think Shuster is capable of winning.
  7. Only if they make move one of two women's games scheduled for the other rink outside.
  8. There really isn't enough time in the day to have four separate game times with separate admission tickets.
  9. We still have snow on the ground here but have a chance of severe thunderstorms today.
  10. Right, but a European country will at least win bronze. It's sports where Europe doesn't win any medals that end up getting booted from the Olympics.
  11. Times (ET) set for the Elimination and Quarterfinal rounds: Monday SLO v AUT 3am RUS v NOR 7:30am SUI vs LAT Noon CZE vs SVK Noon Tuesday SWE vs SLO/AUT 3am FIN vs RUS/NOR 7:30am CAN vs SUI/LAT Noon USA vs CZE/SVK Noon
  12. Ah, I missed that word, now the retrial makes much more sense.
  13. Yes, because Sweden had a cakewalk group, they were able to get three regulation wins, and got the #1 seed even their goal differential in three games was +5 while Canada has +9 and the US had +11, both in much tougher groups. The IIHF needs to stop using world rankings to seed the Olympic tournament. The world rankings are based mostly on World Championships, which are played the same time as the Stanley Cup playoffs, so very few NHL players participate. Nobody thinks that Canada and the US are the 5th and 6th best teams at the Olympics, so it's stupid to seed the preliminary groups that way. Now we get deprived of another epic US-Canada gold medal game.
  14. Is it really worth retrying the first degree count when they already got two second degree convictions?
  15. Hockey playoff bracket: 8 Slovenia vs 9 Austria, Winner vs 1 Sweden 5 Russia vs 12 Norway, Winner vs 4 Finland 6 Switzerland vs 11 Latvia, Winner vs 3 Canada 7 Czech Rep vs 10 Slovakia, Winner vs 2 USA Times not set yet, hopefully the US gets one of the two late games (noon ET)
  16. US will avoid Russia before the finals no matter what. Russia can only be seeded 4th or 5th and US can only be seeded 2nd or 3rd. If Canada wins in regulation or loses, US also avoids them before the finals. Only "bad" result from the CAN-FIN game is an overtime/shootout win by Canada. That creates a US-CAN semifinal.
  17. Viciedo maybe, but not De Aza. De Aza is never going to fetch anything valuable in a trade. If he could, he'd be gone by now. Giving Dunn's playing time to De Aza accomplishes nothing, other than killing Dunn's potential trade value.
  18. Either this year or in the future, a team that relies on both Viciedo and De Aza as every day players, especially if one of them is the DH, is not going to contend for anything.
  19. So this sets up nice if Canada can beat Finland in regulation tomorrow. Canada gets #1 seed, Russia gets #4, and both would end up on the opposite side of #3 US in the bracket.
  20. The Chicago White Sox, Comcast SportsNet, WGN-TV and WSCR-AM 670 The Score have announced the team’s 2014 spring training broadcast schedule. Three of the nine game broadcasts (March 2, 8 and 16) feature an “interactive” format, allowing listeners to interact with Farmer, Jackson, and pre and post-game host Chris Rongey during the broadcast. In addition to television and radio broadcasts, the White Sox will present webcasts of seven spring training games, in their entirety, at whitesox.com. The spring training webcasts begin on February 28 vs. the Dodgers and are available free to all fans with internet access. Russ Langer will serve as the play-by-play announcer for all seven webcasts. Additional information regarding spring training broadcasts and tickets at CBR can be found at whitesox.com/spring.
  21. I have friends and relatives that range from very, very far left to very, very far right. I have had five liberals de-friend me on Facebook for disagreeing with them (mostly on abortion). I have never had a single conservative de-friend me, despite many disagreements on gay marriage, taxes and the government shutdown.
  22. Finland and Canada both running up the score today. Even so, a regulation win against Russia and the US should be able to score as much as they need to against Slovenia to still get the #1 seed.
