  1. That's the frustrating thing about Alexei. He makes plays that nobody else can make, and then can't make plays that everybody else can make.
  2. For any Sox player expected to be with the team in 2015 and beyond, I want to see them play as well as possible. If guys not in the long-term plans (Axelrod, Troncoso) blow games, I don't mind the loss. Wouldn't want to see Reed start piling up a bunch of blown saves just to get a better draft pick, though.
  3. Trap/catch may be one of the situations that isn't going to be reviewable.
  4. Can you name any team that isn't screwed if two of their top 4 DTs get injured?
  5. I think the younger you die, the less of a star you have to be for it to be news.
  6. Yes, ESPN is in a huge hurry to show a last-place Chicago team instead of the Red Sox or Yankees.
  7. http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainmen...0,5806819.story Lisa Robin Kelly, actress, 43.
  8. It would be worth paying Upton whatever it takes to get her. After all, she knows how to hit Verlander.
  9. Actually, every ground-rule double is automatically two bases for the batter and every baserunner. It's fan interference where the umpire has the discretion to award the runners an extra base.
  10. There is zero chance that ESPN is coming to Chicago to do a game at any time the rest of this season unless it's the last day of the season and the Royals are within a game either way of a playoff spot.
  11. In tennis, if a ball is called out but then replay rules it in, the point is replayed. It wouldn't be fair in baseball to tell the batter that if he hits a ball that is ruled foul but then overturned by replay, all he gets is a replay on that pitch.
  12. I think you have to make it uniform. For every Paul Konerko who gets a base he'd never have gotten, there's an Alexei Ramirez who might have made it to 3rd.
  13. Geez, more left handed hitting outfielders!
  14. No, the batter does not get an RBI. First base was open, so the walk did not force in the run. The run scored on a wild pitch thus no batter gets an RBI for that run.
  15. Last time I watched a full game was Saturday, but then there isn't much else to watch from Section 113.
  16. I don't think it's a good idea to ever bring it up in public, but I also have some compassion for these situations. For most of us, if a personal or health issue causes us to perform our jobs at less than peak, the company can survive for a while with our sub-par performance, or we can take time off and either somebody else fills in and/or whatever we're working on can wait until we get back. For professional athletes at the highest level, the team takes a serious hit if the player has to be out for a while, and even if the player manages to play through it but at a less than peak level, the team still suffers.
  17. Yes, the pitcher is charged with an intentional walk, and the batter is credited with a plate appearance and a walk, and the pitcher is also charged with a wild pitch. Since the wild pitch is what caused the run to score and not the walk, I would describe it as a walk-off wild pitch, though that's really a semantic argument and not a rules argument. While theoretically possible, there should never be such a thing as a walk-off intentional walk.
  18. Yes, the deferred money would be negotiable in a trade, but if a team made a waiver claim the Sox could just stick them with that money, thus nobody will claim him.
  19. My vote is for Kate Upton. She's definitely FAMOUS and you have her in the dugout with just a jersey on and no pants and attendance will skyrocket.
  20. I guess I'm the only one watching this, but holy f*** what a free kick by Altidore! 3-2 US at 84' EDIT: Wow, Altidore just finished off a hat trick! 4-2 at 86'
  21. Apparently they are about to be even a bit higher ranked. 2-0 at 30'.
  22. MNT friendly vs Bosnia and Herzegovina kicks off in 35 minutes. 11 game winning streak on the line.
  23. Matt Flynn should hook up with the Bears offensive line. They don't give a QB enough time to have receivers even get 25 yards downfield.
