Yeah, but Kennedy's majority opinion referenced the "states' rights to define marriage" at least a dozen times, so don't get your hopes up on the Prop 8 ruling.

Which probably also means it's the first time in a finals game that both teams pulled their goalies. -
Mets @ White Sox in "A GAME OF LOLS"
cabiness42 replied to Steve9347's topic in 2013 Season in Review
It is the pitcher's job to direct traffic. The pitcher is supposed to be yelling "Conor", "Gillaspie" or "3rd base" loud enough for the rest of the infielders to hear him and then get the f*** out of the way. I can't tell if Reed just failed to do that, or if Beckham just ignored him. -

I've not been there yet. Possibly going to a game later this summer.

I understand that there is convenience in having your AAA team near your AA and A teams, but Indianapolis is a market that is not dominated by any single major league team and having the Sox AAA team there could really build a fanbase. You're never going to get busloads of fans going from Charlotte to Chicago to see your favorite Knights play in the majors. Louisville used to be a fairly even mix of Reds/Cards/Braves fans and since the Reds put their AAA team here the Reds are clearly the #1 team. The Sox were just starting to get players from South Bend up to Chicago and really getting a leg up on the Cubs in that market when they pulled out of there.
-
If the Sox had kept AJ, they might be about 8 games out of first instead of 10½ games out. That would have been well worth the extra $7.5M to have a team that doesn't quite suck as much as the one we actually have.
-
Every five minutes the Weather Channel keeps mentioning that there are 60+ mph winds in the Chicago area and then they show Wrigley Field and mention that the Cubs are not at home today. Not one mention of the Sox, so f*** them!

Yes, kids are one of the must-discuss topic early on in a relationship. As an "big-boned" guy, I did not have the easiest time finding dates in my 20s, so it took a lot of discipline to be the one to end a relationship, but aside from not wanting kids, these are a few comments from dates that caused me never to call back: "I'm not willing to live farther than 30 miles away from my parents' house in Grayslake at least until they die" "I'm not willing to ever drive anywhere that is more than a 4-hour drive" "I'm a Cubs fan"
-
Wouldn't it be handy to have your AAA team close enough to the ML club to do this often? (HINT, HINT)
-
Oh, if there are no kids yet, then I think divorce is more of an option, but once you have kids, getting divorced for any reason other than abuse (physical and/or emotional) or serial adultery is very selfish.
-
I think it's exactly the opposite. Both my parents and my wife's parents are divorced and re-married and we both hated how difficult the holidays became with two sets of parents and now really hate how difficult they are with four sets of parents. We are very determined that we are not going to put our kids into the same situation.

Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova have gotten catty with each other and clearly the only way to settle this is naked jello wrestling.

Magglio Ordonez (and Jermaine Dye, who has the exact same birthday) are the standard by which I judge whether or not people are old. If you are older than them, you are old. If you are younger than them, even if only by seven days, you are not old.
-
I agree that you can go back and find plenty of lopsided trades to support either side, but in that particular trade I think the Padres were looking more to dump salary than to get players that were going to help them win anything.
-
Yeah, just wait until the Tigers get to start playing the last place team in their division and see what that does for their record.
-
Geez, imagine what Law would have said if the Sox had signed him.

The Sox/Twins Non-Sweep Aspirational Thread
cabiness42 replied to Joxer_Daly's topic in 2013 Season in Review
#2 draft pick is still better than #3 draft pick, although I don't want the Sox to suck too much, especially not the players we're looking to trade. -
Yeah, but Tebow!
-
The FBI will if you keep changing the place Hoffa is supposedly buried.
-
Not sure why you'd keep Crain since he's a FA at the end of the year, unless he's willing to sign an extension which would be an odd thing for him to do while the team is in the midst of dumping everybody else that's good.
-
It's pretty standard practice:
-
Only one I got wrong was #6. I never realized that was part of the rule. I wonder how a shift for Dunn, etc., affects that rule? I knew #5, but I swear I've seen situations where it should have been called but wasn't. Even though I got #3 right, it was a bulls*** question. When do the Cubs ever get two runners on with nobody out??
-
Need some excavating work done but can't afford it? Just claim Jimmy Hoffa is buried there and the FBI will do the work for free!
