I think people from both parties are a bit hypocritical when it comes applying the rules to themselves, partly because it's human nature to be selfish and partly because the vast majority of people are quoting talking points from FoxNews/Rush Limbaugh or NYTimes/MSNBC and don't really understand what they are saying. Specific to situation 1), I was a public school teacher for a year, and I refused to join the union because a good chunk of the union's money goes to supporting pro-choice political candidates. There was no threat of a strike at my school, but had there been one I would have refused to participate.

People make mistakes, but not the same one three times. He's either an irresponsible asshole who deserves to be locked up, or an alcoholic who can't help himself and needs professional help.

There's a joke about a French porn star in there somewhere.

No. If Samardzija is still in the game long enough to bat again, maybe you do it then. Otherwise, you have LaHair get blasted his first time up tomorrow.

Surely Humber would get tossed if he hits Samardzija. Robin better have somebody warming up in the pen if he chooses to go that route.

Interleague play - DH - Viciedo/Dunn - Bud Selig
cabiness42 replied to 59th street's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It may be a couple decades, but the money that is out there to be made by having the Yankees-Mets, Sox-Cubs, and Angels-Dodgers in the same division will eventually overcome those sticking to tradition and history. -

I think that a few more old school NL owners need to sell/die and then the NL will be able to adopt the DH, which will be immediately followed by the elmination of the AL and NL altogether, which will be immediately followed by wholesale geographic realignment. -

Yes, it seems to happen about once a year. -
HS golfer loses state title to errant scorecard

What I gather from this is that Inglis had the correct score for herself for the 18th on the card she was keeping, but her playing partner (who is keeping her official score) had an incorrect score for her for the 18th. When I played HS golf, my group sat down after every match and double-checked our scorecards to make 100% certain that we had the same scores for each other on every hole. This is a massive fail on her part for not doing this. -
Got a letter from their HR person today telling me that they were very impressed with me but business conditions have forced them to cancel the position. Third time in the last six months I've been told the exact same thing by three different companies.

I would absolutely love to see an Olympics in Chicago or Indy.

Against a lefty pitcher, maybe. Against a righty pitcher I definitely want him swinging.
-
Watching on Gameday. Can somebody explain to me how Konerko scores from first on a single??? Nevermind. Just noticed the wild pitch in there.

Here's some perspective for everybody who is dissatisfied with de Aza's performance: The Red Sox recently traded for Scott Podsednik.

Josh would love all the nightlife in Chicago.

I want to see a Sox player win a HR title in my lifetime more than I wan to see a triple crown winner in my lifetime.

Doesn't really matter how steep it is if you're in the front row, right? Anyway, I don't really like the upper deck of ANY park. I do understand having the policy of not letting UD folks down to the 100-level when there is a big crowd because it can become difficult to move around, but it shouldn't be restricted when the crowd is < 30K. -
In Christianity, the word "cult" is often misused but has a specific definition. Religious groups that do not recognize Jesus as divine are considered to be separate religions and are often mislabeled as cults. Scientology isn't a cult, it's just a different religion altogether, just like Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, etc. Religious groups that subscribe to a common set of core beliefs revolving around Jesus and the trinity are considered Christian. Religious groups that have some but not all of these core beliefs, or otherwise misconstrue themselves as Christian are considered cults with regard to Christianity. Mormonism and Jehovah's Witnesses are Christian cults because they contain beliefs that are inconsistent with the core teachings of Christianity. Seventh-day Adventists often get mislabeled as cults because they have some weird beliefs, but they do adhere to all of the core teachings.

Doesn't every Cubs opponent have that?

First in a 3-part series about the March 2 F4 tornado that hit Southern Indiana. Pretty good read if you have any interest in tornadoes and/or live in a tornado-prone area: http://www.courier-journal.com/article/201...look-path-storm

Nebraska wanted UNO to be in the conference which was a non-starter for the rest of the league and there was no way to get ND in and leave UNO out and not have a big stink about it. ND may have very well said that they wouldn't join even if invited, but they were never actually invited. -

No teams outside of the Big Ten were offered entry into the hockey conference. It's something I'm 100% certain of. -

Big alumni you know don't drive these decisions--TV dollars do, and ND still pulls in enough TV dollars to have every single conference interested in them. Also, ND was not asked to join the Big 10 hockey conference. Nor was any other hockey program not in the Big Ten for other sports.
