  1. Anyone in their conference? Absolutely Anyone on their schedule? I can buy that in football but not in basketball. Losing one game because you let a guy transfer to a second-tier ACC team isn't going to make or break your chances at winning the NCAA tournament.
  2. This is hypothetical, and as far as I'm concerned, unlikely, but if Jake really feels like he owes the Sox something and goes to them with some kind of hometown discount offer before the season ends and the Sox have to decline his option, then nobody gets the chance to blow that offer away. And if that really does happen, the Sox would be crazy not to take it.
  3. Simplest realignment that makes geographic sense is Vikings to NFC West and Rams to NFC North. If you really want to preserve the Vikings' rivalries, you can float the idea of having the two franchises swap nicknames. The team currently known as the Rams becomes the Vikings and assumes all their franchise records. The team currently known as the Vikings does likewise with the Rams. EDIT: From a selfish standpoint, I'd love to see Vikings to NFC West, Rams to AFC South, and Colts to NFC North, but that probably wouldn't happen.
  4. Me too. First of all, lineups are usually made a series at a time, so the decision to sit him today was made before last night's performance. Secondly, now he can get on that long plane ride feeling good about his last performance. Last thing you want is for him to go 0-4 today with a few K's and then get on a plane.
  5. Rangers, Tigers, Indians and Orioles are a combined 26-9 against opponents other than the Sox.
  6. Dunn had 6 hits, including 3 HR, vs LHP in Spring Training. That's probably what we were remembering in thinking that last night wasn't his first one of the season.
  7. I was thinking the same thing, but I looked it up and he's 1-16 vs LHP this year after last night.
  8. Day game after a night game, so AJ is not going to be behind the plate even if Flowers can play elsewhere.
  9. The Sox are an AL team. They need to find 8-9 hitters that can get on base, and then we wouldn't have to worry that we're wasting de Aza's power in the 1-spot.
  10. I need to stay off news sites before having caffeine in the morning. I just misread a headline of "India tests long-range missile" as "Indiana tests long-range missile" and thought, "Wow, that's freakin' awesome!"
  11. She was making over $1M per year, right? I'd call that financial gain.
  12. Her dementia will probably help her forget all of her illegal recruiting tactics.
  13. What general area is she from? I only ask because I'm almost six hours away from Chicago (Louisville area) and if it happens to be near me, I'd be willing to help out.
  14. Every game I go to there is one kind of food that I am always looking for and have yet to find: affordable food
  15. Wow, that sucks. Hope things turn out OK, and please keep us updated.
  16. In 2011, Lilli had a .757 OPS vs RHP in 92 AB. It's not a huge sample size, but I think it at least earns him a shot to see if he can sustain it.
  17. I'm in favor of keeping a regular pattern through the first 40 games. Use pretty much the same starting lineup each game while giving the bench players each 1-2 starts a week. Then after the 40th game, you have a good sample size on the starters and still a somewhat small one with the bench guys but still enough info to figure out what the optimal lineup will be the rest of the season.
  18. I'm not on either side of the IU/Kentucky debate, but that is a horrible example. The SEC is a far inferior conference to the Big Ten. If those teams switched leagues, IU would have more conference titles than Kentucky. Outside of IU, the Big Ten has 7 teams with a combined 34 Final Four appearances. Outside of Kentucky, the SEC has 5 teams with a combined 13 Final Four appearances. Winning the Mountain West is almost as much of an accomplishment as winning the SEC.
  19. No, wouldn't work for someplace like WalMart, but works pretty well for local businesses.
  20. I've never resorted to calling a credit card provider to resolve a dispute. I prefer to tell the offending party that between Facebook, Twitter, and whatever local/national message boards might apply to their particular business, I can pretty much promise that you will miss out on at least twice as much business as the value of our dispute.
  21. I didn't win that huge MegaMillions jackpot, so no beer at the ballpark for me.
  22. Lillibridge can play 1B, so there's your righty PH for Dunn if you decide to go that route.
  23. FOX only gets a 3-hour exclusive window on Saturdays. They either get 1-4 or 4-7 ET. This past Saturday FOX had the 1-4 window so the Sox game should have been available on mlb.tv and MLBEI.
  24. I'm all for Jackie Robinson Day, but they need to find some way to do it other than having every player wear #42. If you're at a bar watching a game with no sound, you have no idea who is pitching/hitting/running, because not only is everybody wearing #42, but none of the jerseys have names on the backs.
