  2. Ironic that you mention that on yesterday of all days, as yesterday is the day I was finally able to get rid of DirecTV because the local cable company finally agreed to carry MLB Network. I've made few phone calls as enjoyable as the one telling DirecTV where they can stick their product.
  3. I think it depends on the opponent and on how strong your bench is. If your opponent has 3 beatable starting pitchers for a series, maybe you rest one starter each game and try to win all three. If your opponent has one stud starter out of the three, maybe you sacrifice the game the stud is starting by resting three starters that game and playing the other two full strength. With this Sox team in particular, Flowers starts are going to come vs. LHP, regardless of which game in the series it is, and other than Dunn, Konerko, and Alexei, I don't think any of the other starters are so good that you lose much by subbing in Fukudome, Escobar, or Lillibridge.
  4. It's not every day that the bases can be loaded and Adam Dunn can claim to be the fastest baserunner.
  5. Paulie's Sox career ranks: Games: 4th with 1920 (Appling 2422) Runs: 5th with 1020 (Thomas 1327) Hits: 5th with 1983 (Appling 2749) Doubles: 3rd with 362 (Thomas 447) Homers: 2nd with 389 (Thomas 448) RBI: 2nd with 1235 (Thomas 1465) Strikeouts: 2nd with 1143 (Thomas 1165) Total Bases: 3rd wtih 3528 (Thomas 3949) Extra-base Hits: 2nd with 758 (Thomas 906) GIDP: 1st wtih 236
  6. Actually that was the last thing I got to see before I left.
  7. No matter what the state's lottery laws are, you can have an attorney claim the winnings on your behalf and you are protected by attorney-client privilege.
  8. Why couldn't the upcoming penalties to the women's program have been determined before April 3? Would have been nice.
  9. Thanks, Ozzie, for ruining a thread that had previously been mostly about pics of hot, nearly-naked women at your new ballpark.
  10. I'd move to Alaska for the right opportunity. Cold/snow don't bother me tremendously, and I love the thought of never having to stay up past 10pm to watch Sox games! It would have to be Anchorage, though. I still need to have some sort of city nearby.
  11. Picking a conservative woman does not win you the women's vote. There's nothing that liberal and left-leaning moderate women hate more than conservative women.
  12. The NBA likes the current rule, and while they have some interest in seeing college basketball thrive, not to the extent of hurting their own product. There is something the NCAA can do on their end, though--make a rule that once you offer a scholarship to a player, that scholarship counts against your school's limit for three years, regardless of how long the player actually stays. That would create a disincentive to recruit too many one-and-done players, as you could leave yourself without enough scholarships to fill out a team.
  13. Missed most of the final round while driving home yesterday, but it sounds like I missed some compelling golf.
  14. Blair Kiel, ND QB from 1980-83 and uncle of current ND QB Gunner Kiel, died at age 50. He wasn't anywhere near the best ND QB, but he was the first one I remember.
  15. It's too late to be an April Fool's joke, isn't it?
  16. Did the Facebook thing, but I'm not on Twitter.
  17. And Jonathan Wilhite. Also, I didn't see this mentioned yet, but Soldier Field will be the site of Peyton Manning's first pre-season game as a Bronco.
  18. Checked the leaderboard online about 10 minutes ago and Henrik Stenson was leading at -5 thru 17. Just checked it again and Stenson is finished at -1. Must have been one b*tch of an 18th hole! Can't wait to see the highlights on that one.
  19. I still work for the government. Probably my most marketable skill is that I managed a call center for 2 years and did some workforce management before that. About two years ago I got yanked out of that division due to office politics and am now working on a business case for getting a new facility built (current campus is 80 years old).
