  1. I saw the end of that game. Arizona got completely screwed over because the umpires had no business allowing the 9th inning to be played in that kind of rain. The batter before Helton was hit by a pitch because the wet ball slipped out of Putz' hand. The Putz had to resort to throwing cookies just to avoid walking/hitting every batter.
  2. Apparently, it can expand by about 400 more tickets than seats, however.
  3. Despite only having 5 hits, the Sox have hit for the cycle!
  4. Missiles don't perform well in April--just ask North Korea.
  5. Through 5 innings, 47% (16 of 34) batters have struck out.
  6. So through 3 innings there have been 20 batters and 11 Ks. Guess it doesn't matter if the wind is blowing out.
  7. If you are within range of AM 670, you can listen for free, otherwise it costs $20/year for an internet audio subscription. There is no way to watch online for free.
  8. If my early season trend holds up, Dunn will rack up the second most points today.
  9. According to his tweet, yes he was. He didn't identify Beckham's date.

That was exactly the reason I clicked on the thread was because I thought it was about golf. My degrees are in math, so I'm about the last person to give Tex advice on how to pursue an English degree.
  11. Not really bragging, because I already don't like living down here, and in a normal year they spend too much time talking about college basketball during baseball season on local sports radio, and now it will be even worse!
  12. ESPN has updated their post-signing day preseason Top 25, and the Top 3 are all within 100 miles of my house.
  13. Being less thorough when digging into the past of questionable recruits is not an NCAA violation, and Calipari has taken full advantage of that fact. At some point, his employers need to realize this and cover the bases that he isn't since they are the ones who will get stuck with the penalties later on.
  14. Unless he's at 80%, I'm angry every time he runs with less than 2 outs. And he's only been above 75% in half of his seasons anyway.
  15. So the difference between a very good catcher and a very bad catcher is under 20%, which, like I said, is a minority of stealing attempts. Over 80% of the time the outcome is determined by the pitcher and the runner. When I sign a catcher, I'm going to worry much more about his hitting and how he handles the pitching staff. If he can throw out runners, that's just a bonus.
  16. Cleveland will sell more tickets to a game scheduled several weeks in advance for June-August than for a game scheduled one day in advance in April.
  17. I've always contended that the majority of stolen base attempts are made or failed based on the runner's jump and the pitcher's delivery, and only a minority of the outcomes are affected by the throw.
