The Bears are 4-3 against a tough schedule, have a good track record against both the Eagles and Vick, and are playing pretty good football right now. I'm trying very hard to find reasons that I shouldn't be taking the 8 points tonight and can't really find any.
Yeah, unless you think somebody is in immediate danger, you notify your first-line supervisor first and give him a chance to deal with it, but at some point there needed to be a follow-up conversation where Joe told his boss either you get the cops involved or I will, and that clearly didn't happen.
I don't care who wins, but I want it to be an absolute blowout so there's no talk of keeping the loser ranked ahead of one or more unbeaten teams and no talk of a rematch for the national championship.
Yes, but the quote in the story referenced a very specific situation, where there is a runner on third (and presumably less than two outs). In that case, getting the run home is more important than not making an out, unless you're behind by 3+ runs or something like that.
I would want to hear more from this guy than a quote about that specific situation before I judge his approach to hitting.
I agree that there is no place for Castro on the 2012 Sox, but his tenure was a very bright light compared to the utter crap that has been the Sox backup catchers for as long as I can remember.
Yes, you can still use SOS as a tiebreaker. If you went 0-16 against a weaker schedule, then technically you were worse than the team that went 0-16 against a tougher schedule.
With Rios, Viciedo, Lillibridge, and deAza already on board, I don't see the Sox bringing in any other OF. In fact, I don't see the Sox adding any position players via free agency other than a utility IF.
Calculating and 'average cost per win in each league' is not a really good way to do this, at least not in MLB.
The Yankees spend 5 times (or whatever) as much as the Pirates but it's impossible for them to win 5 times as many games, so the Pirates are automatically going to rate better than the Yankees.
If a team has won a World Series in the past 5 years and at the same time made a profit that is acceptable to their ownership group, then in my book that makes them smart spenders.
