  1. Just wondering why the obscure reference to Manchester College? My parents went there.
  2. You didn't have to wait until tomorrow on West Virginia. Still no word on Louisville.
  3. If the SEC really wants Missouri, then 1) Why didn't they grab them at the same time as A&M? 2) Why is there a holdup in getting them now when they are very openly pursuing the SEC? Anybody else think that the SEC doesn't really want Missouri and is using them to see who else is really interested in heading their way?
  4. Yes, it's very weird. You should watch it if for no other reason than the stirring performance by Extra #102 in Scene #34.
  5. There are very few opportunities for the Hawks and Bulls to play in the same city on the same day, though Detroit would be one of them.
  6. I'm not sure, but that would really be stretching the definition of same city, even more so than Boston/Foxboro.
  7. Right, but the criteria is two teams, playing two teams from the same city and in the same city. The Bears may have had a home game the same day as 2005 WS Game 2, but it wasn't against the Houston Texans.
  8. This question came up on another message board prompted by the Cowboys hosting the Rams and the Rangers hosting the Cardinals this past Sunday. How often do the same two cities compete in two different sports in the same city on the same day (including playoffs but not including exhibition/pre-season)? I checked the Bears/Sox and had to go back to 9/21/1997 with the Bears@Patriots and the Sox@RedSox (taking a fairly liberal definition of same city as far as the Patriots are concerned). There were a couple more recent occasions of the Sox-Tigers and Bears-Lions playing on the same day, but they weren't in the same city. Anybody care to check this out for Sox/Bulls, Sox/Hawks, or maybe even Bears/Cubs??
  9. In 2012, the NFC East plays the NFC South and the AFC North, so their schedules are going to be significantly more difficult compared to the NFC North teams.
  10. Do you not live in a jurisdiction that does yearly assessments for the purpose of property taxes? I know that appraisals and assessments are two different things, but in most places they do tend to trend similarly. I haven't gotten any appraisals done, but I know what the county assessments have done in the last 4 years and can reasonably estimate what an appraisal would be based on that.
  11. Maybe too early to begin looking ahead to next year, but in 2012 the NFC North plays both the NFC West and AFC South, who are a combined 43-68 (.387) in non-division games since the start of the 2010 season. If the NFC North doesn't gobble up both Wildcards in 2012, it will be a massive fail for the division.
  12. OK, I took it to mean currently existing, observable life. Of course there has been other life out there, but it's not a given that any of it still exists and is close enough that we will ever see it.
  13. I'm not certain of that. There are an awful lot of conditions that need to be within very small specifications for life to exist to begin with, and then that life has to be able to survive for 4+ billion years without getting wiped out. Add on top of that the very minute percentage of the universe that we are yet able to observe and I really don't think that the discovery of other life is at all certain.
  14. I'm in a similar boat. Financed 95% of purchase price (90% of appraised value) when I bought my first house 4 1/2 years ago. What I owe is now about 101% of current appraised value, yet there's no way I could get even close to appraised value if I tried to sell right now. Would love to be able to refinance, but I don't think this new program covers me.
  15. I've never liked him since I read this ESPN tell-all book several years ago that basically painted him as the poster child for major sexual harrassment.
  16. I started about 10 minutes into his first game of his rookie season.
  17. Yes, the Bears have the tiebreaker over the other current 4-3 teams, Tampa and Atlanta. If Dallas wins next week, they would go to 4-3 and have an edge over the Bears via conference record.
  18. How young, exactly, because most of his errors are on concepts taught in 3rd-5th grade?
  19. Anyone know the last time an NFL game had 9 or fewer total points?
  20. Just do keg stands, then you don't even need the cup.
  21. Yes, I couldn't even continue beyond the first paragraph.
