Having wins over Atlanta and Tampa will probably be helpful when tiebreaking time rolls around in Week 17. -

I'm glad ND tanked early enough that I could switch over and catch the end of the amazing MSU game, though now that there is at least a possibility of MSU ending up 12-1, I'll be very sick if one of my schools was denied a NC chance by the other. -
LET'S MAKE A LIST OCTOBER '11 - FAVORITE SPORTS MOVIES

I am not going to go back and redo my list, but I will put a plug in for a lesser-known movie called 'The Grand'. It is a comedy with a plot based on the World Series of Poker and characters who are based on actual poker players. On top of that, the end of the movie was unscripted, and the 'winner' in the movie was determined by having the characters actually play out the final table for real. -
I'm pretty far from Kansas myself.

AJP - Keep Konerko - Keep Beckham - Keep Alexi - Keep Morel - Keep Pierre - Not a f**ing chance Rios - Trade (unlikely) Quentin - Keep Dunn - Keep Viquel - Adios Buehrle/Danks - Keep one of the two, dependent on MB salary demands Peavy - Trade (very unlikely) Floyd - Keep Thornton - Keep Ohman - Keep Frasor - Keep only if he will stay for less than he made this year, so most likely no

In the Full Tilt Ponzi Scheme thread I asked if people were interested in separate thread about playing poker, and a couple people said yes, so here it is . . . I got started on poker from watching it on TV around 2003-04. Began playing a bit more seriously after moving back to Indiana in 2006. I play about 1-2 times a month at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana and 3-4 times a month in home games. Have also played on trips to Vegas and Tunica (MS). At the 'Shoe I play $80-100 NL tournaments or $1/2 NL or PLO cash games. At home games we usually do $25-40 NL tournaments and $0.25/0.50 mixed cash games. My biggest tournament score was winning a $100 tournament that paid me $840. My biggest cash game session was running $100 up to $740 in a NL/PLO home game. My wife plays also and she once finished second in a 180-player women's-only $230 tournament that paid her $5500. I used to play online some before the shutdown, but for pretty low stakes. I must have been bad at finding the fish online since I was a losing player online despite being a winning player live.

knightini, did you get a list from me? I could have sworn I sent you one but I just checked my sent message file and it isn't there. -

My opinion would be to draw the line between pool and poker, since pool requires some physical skill/dexterity to pull off and poker is pretty much purely mental. However, if we are going to include poker, I will have to revise my list and put Rounders near the top. -
They do now, but they didn't four years ago when I made the switch.

Wow, massive fail by the Raiders. -
If moving Rios' salary allows the sox to keep Quentin, then Quentin is better than what the Sox get from trading Danks.
-
I switched from Dish Network to DirecTV for the sole purpose of getting the MLB Network.
-
I think there is an outside chance that the Yankees or Red Sox would take Rios along with Danks if they are desperate enough for pitching and miss out on other targets. Nobody is taking Dunn or Peavy.
-
Yep, this is my first choice as well.

This will be the 4th World Series of the last 7 that will be played with no teams from either Eastern Division.

2011 Spring schedule was released on 11/23/10, so I would expect it in about 5-6 weeks.

Yes, there have been instances of cheating in online poker, and you know what, there's cheating in live poker too! Even so, poker offers the possibility of long-term success that is not possible in other casino games.

Functionally there is a big difference. In any casino game aside from poker and to some extent blackjack, you can play 100% of the time with the perfect strategy and the odds are still that you will leave a loser. In poker, your skill is competing against the other players and not the house, so even though the house is taking a cut and the entire group of players is losing, your skill level has a major impact on whether you win or lose. So from the house's perspective, yes it's the same in the sense that they are always taking X% of the players' money, but from the players' perspective it's very different.
-
I'm not aware of there being "computer opponents" at the major online poker sites. Poker rooms, real or virtual, make their money differently than other casino games. You don't play poker against the house, you play against other players and the house makes their money by taking a cut of every pot. It's the only game in a casino where you do actually have a fair shake at winning, unless you are an expert card counter playing blackjack.

I was wondering if there are enough poker players here to warrant a separate poker thread?
-
Good for MLB in finally evening out the divisions! Now all we need is for people to get over the quaint notion of pitchers having to bat and we can get rid of the AL and NL completely and have a total geographic realignment.

I would think any team employee that is under contract could be traded. ***Dreams about some team trading the Sox a prospect for Hawk***

I got to see 92 points in person in South Bend. Was really hoping for a last second TD + 2pt conversion. -
I clicked on this thread thinking it was either: 1) A joke 2) Some stupid BS rumor that somebody heard The possibility that it was actually true didn't even cross my mind.
