https://www.prospectslive.com/prospects-live/2023/7/7/2023-mlb-draft-mock-4 Noble Meyer for the Sox. Don’t see that at all. Sox are big on the spin on his pitches and that’s one of his concerns is sometimes his fastball is hittable.

Blake Wolters RHP MAHOMET-SEYMOUR HIGH (MAHOMET, ILL.) Scouting Report Bats: R, Throws: R Wolters is a 6-4 Arizona commit who didn’t do the showcase circuit, making him a hot name this spring as scouts have rushed in to see him. He’s been up to 97 mph already with a slider that’s at least a 55, showing a loose arm and high 3/4 slot that puts some riding life on the fastball up in the zone. He’s already somewhat filled out and has the classic “workhorse” pitcher’s frame that teams have targeted for decades. Some minor delivery help to get him to generate more power from his hips and legs could have him sitting mid-90s in a few years, although he’ll need to also develop a third pitch to reach his ceiling as a mid-rotation to above-average starter.

Insiders keep on mentioning interested in prep players, but no one ever has them selecting the HS player in the mocks.

ESPN 15. Chicago White Sox Chase Dollander, RHP, Tennessee The White Sox are checking out the prep bats here, but I think this pick will come down to Yohandy Morales or Dollander. Morales closed well and could hit 30 homers as a third baseman, while Dollander had a real shot to go in the top three picks when the spring started. He wasn't bad this spring, he just performed below the lofty expectations

Keith Law last mock. Ton of new information on each team. Chicago White Sox – Enrique Bradfield Jr., OF Vanderbilt I think this is the floor for Dollander and they could be in the mix for Waldrep as well. I haven’t heard them with Wilson specifically, but he’d fit here given how they seem to scout and value players.

Fangraphs 15. Chicago White Sox Pick: Chase Dollander, RHP, Tennessee At some point, Dollander’s fall will come to a stop, and I think it’s most likely to be with a team that seems to care less about fastball shape than others do. The White Sox fit that bill.

Any word what happened to Jordan Sprinkle?

I’m not sure I would call Davis one dimensional. Brings a lot tools to the table! Scouting Report Bats: L, Throws: L Davis is one of the most improved players among the college prospects in this class, cutting his strikeout rate from 22.8 percent as a sophomore to 14.4 percent this year as a junior for the Wildcast, while hitting for more power. A good chunk of the improvement came from closing up the whole he’d shown on the inner-third as an underclassman; he still does most of his damage on stuff middle-away, but he doesn’t whiff as much on stuff inside, and if there’s any weakness here, it’s on velocity up. His game power is at least a 60, and he’s a 55 runner who plays center now and should at least begin his pro career out there, with the downside of an above-average defender in right if he can’t stay up the middle. I think he’s at least a regular and has more upside than some of the safer college bats who’ll go before him.

Great stuff as always!

Nice to see Reyes have two good outings. Definitely have some talent on DSL. Would love to see an in depth report on Nunez.

Athletic fired Fegan in Jun23, now hired with Sox Machine

The White Sox Athletic sucks! We miss you Jim! -
6 days away from the draft. Top 5 choices in the 1st Round 1. Houck 2. Nimmala 3. Shaw 4. Aidan Miller 5. Chase Davis- His analytic numbers are super impressive. Would be extremely happy with any 5 of these players. Please no Morales, Bradfield, or pitching in the 1st round.

I have big concerns when a high velocity fastball that is being hit very successfully by college hitters. Lacking fastball command is a big red flag. Wish the intel from Law had them more linked with prep hitters.

Keith Law’s latest mock 15. Chicago White Sox— Hurston Waldrep, RHP, Florida DOB: 3-01-2022 | Height: 6-2 | Weight: 205 I’ve heard them on a couple of the college arms, including Dollander, as well as Taylor and Yohandy Morales. It sounds like there may be two camps in the front office, one favoring an arm and one a bat. Scouting Report: Waldrep might have been the No. 2 college pitcher coming into the spring, but a spring of inconsistent performance didn’t helped his draft stock, even with stuff that should have him in the top half of the first round. Waldrep’s splitter is one of the best swing-and-miss pitches in the draft. It’s got huge bottom to it at 85-89 mph, coming in like a fastball and dropping hard very late for the hitter, so he may already be committed to a pitch that’s no longer there. That’s also its weakness, as it usually finishes out of the strike zone. He’s got a hard curveball and a slider, both of which also generate misses but neither of which appears to be more than a fringe-average pitch because he doesn’t consistently finish them out front. I think batters are whiffing because they’re so geared up for the splitter, and that better hitters will pick up the spin and lay off the breaking balls. Even if you want to call the breaking balls average or better based on the whiff rates alone, Waldrep has two things he has to improve: He doesn’t throw enough strikes, and his fastball gets hit hard for something that averages 95 mph. This year Waldrep allowed a 4.83 ERA through the regular season with 12 homers in 15 starts. The whole is less than the sum of the parts, and that could represent an opportunity, because it’s a 70 splitter and plenty of arm strength that could make him a very effective closer, along with the history of durability as a starter.

Ridiculous hit that a homer with one arm!

Keith Law mock 15. Chicago White Sox – Yohandy Morales, 3B, Miami The White Sox have been linked heavily to Morales and Taylor in the last few weeks, with a heavy presence at TCU’s regional and a strong workout with Morales after that. Would absolutely hate this!

I’m out on a high school catcher. Track record is brutal. Agree rather go after Miller, Houck, or Nimmala.

Obvious behind Salas-lol!

Majority of people on this board was a fan of the Vaughn pick. I was included . The only other option that Sox were considering at the time was CJ Abrams which I would of been also been very happy with. Right now 22 years old Abrams has been rushed and struggling with MLB ballclub. Abrams is still super young and as his body fills out will start producing offensively. My philosophy is about picking up guys that play up the middle and leaning more towards prep players. The more toolsy the better and their trade value holds up longer. I know Vaughn isn't that type of player. I think the Sox really did a disservice to his development by rushing up quickly to MLB and playing him at a new position. Slowly we are starting to see what type of hitter Vaughn can be recently. If we can get his launch angle up more some of those hits in the gap and warning track will turn into homers.

ESPN KILEY McDANIEL 15.Chicago White Sox Colin Houck, 3B, Parkview HS (GA) I'm again hearing a lot of bats here, mostly on the prep side, with catcher Blake Mitchell being another hot name the White Sox have been getting late looks on. Houck should go sometime between pick 10 and here. He gives me Evan Longoria vibes. Definitely down with this pick. Glad to hear their mostly looking at prep bats.

Keith Law’s 1st Mock. Would hate the two players being mentioned here. 15. Chicago White Sox – Noble Meyer, RHP, Jesuit High (Portland, Ore.) I also think they could be the high team on Florida right-hander Hurston Waldrep, who definitely fits in with some of the college starters they’ve favored over the last 10-plus years. This is just me talking here, but in their situation, with a weak farm system and their best prospect on the shelf, I’d be all over some of the college bats likely to be around here – Troy, Shaw, Bradfield (if he gets here), Colton Ledbetter and so on.

Would love if Nimmala would fall to 15th!!!!
