I don't think your base action was wrong, but I agree with most here in that you could have gone about it better. This merited a face-to-face conversation. Yeah, it'd be hard with or without autism, but it's what needed to be done. I'm a social media hater. The only reason I still have any platform (which is Facebook) is because it's got oodles of pictures that I don't have anywhere else and am, for the moment, too lazy to save elsewhere (also, it did help us retrieve a piece of luggage we left in Ireland). Generally, it cheapens the human experience. One doesn't keep in touch with old friends by casually seeing their updates every once in a while, and you didn't do honor to your current relationships by tossing them away in a DM. Personal interaction would give the whole thing dignity and perhaps even achieve a different result. You say it'd have been more awkward, but perhaps if they saw your emotions in real time, it would have reached them better and even changed their ways. It's easy to laugh at and dehumanize words on a computer screen- there's just no gravitas at all. Lastly, since you brought it up, the most "grating and annoying" thing you do is bragging about your intelligence. If you are a "super smart person", as you said at the beginning of this thread, then just go be a super smart person. No reminder necessary. If it's true, people will see it and will talk about it on their own. But telling everyone all the time shows a lack of confidence in yourself. So knock this particular trait off and consider it an easy way to look more confident and develop a bit more charisma. FWIW.

Acuna has 19 solo homeruns this year out of 27. I don’t know how that intersects with his batting order position, but he has 20 homeruns from the leadoff slot and 7 from the cleanup slot. I want Robert to hit homeruns with men on, which is why I’m wary of him leading off.

I’d say leadoff. Moncada second, then Robert/Eloy/Vaughn.

I really don’t get the appeal of batting Robert leadoff. Sure, he’s fast, but he’s also powerful. What’s more beneficial? A) Him leading off, stealing bags to get into scoring position, so that he can score on a single by our guys who should be hitting homeruns anyway, and at the same time hitting a crap ton of homeruns himself but often with few if any runners on base... or B) Him hitting third or fourth, constantly clobbering two or three run bombs because he’s hitting behind our OBP kings, and then, when he does merely single, he can steal and be in scoring position for our relatively weaker lower of the order hitters who are more likely to hit singles? B makes so much more sense to me. To the extent that I will furiously protest A, and you guys know how annoying that can be.

Thanks, man. Yeah, I'm not too worried about Beard. He's a fourth round pick, so whatever. Looking at the 2009 4th rounders, the second best player by bWAR is Ryan Goins. So if we get an MLBer out of it at all, terrific! Burger is the one I'm more worried about out. He'll be at Kanny next year as an A-baller as a 24 year old with two missed years of development. That was a failure.

Couple of wonderings: 1) Where the fuck is Jake Burger? 2) Where are Thompson and Dalquist? Are they not pitching anymore this year? 3) James Beard doesn't look good so far. 48 Ks in 113 PAs. And only 67% success in SBs. Eh, if it works, cool. If not, oh well.

Why Covey? Without knowing anything about him, why not someone like Matt Foster? He's 24, right-handed, decent peripherals, never played in the bigs. Maybe he sucks, but we know Covey sucks.

I don't know how serious you're being right here, but I really don't understand this mindset (which many people are super serious about). So many things could happen between now and 2026- Kopech could have a second TJ, Eloy/Moncada/whoever could pull an Upton and forget how to hit, etc. Our success beyond 2026 depends not on necessarily extending the guys we have now but on continuing to find and acquire talent. As much as I'm excited about him, the difference between winning or losing in 2027 is not going to be whether or not Nick Madrigal still plays for us. So if the guy is ready now, and his AA performance suggests as much, bring him up and let's start working out any wrinkles at the MLB level.

Steve Stone must be senile. For the month of July, Yolmer is hitting .235 with a .244 OBP and a .602 OPS. From 17-19JUL, he had a hot streak with six hits in three games. Including that streak, which is pretty much the most generous thing you can do to his stats, he's hitting .261 with a .696 OPS. Yolmer Sanchez is BAD. How many times does that need to be said before anyone looks at the stats and realizes it?
