Nationals are definitely the biggest threat. The Mets like I said yesterday you should be able to outbid.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:13 PM) Mets fans are crazy on Twitter about Cespedes. Rosenthal has a proposed deal suggestion that I'm sure people will relay as being an actual offer. Well it's worth discussing...would anyone be willing to defer money like Chris Davis far into the future when he's not playing baseball?
-
Mets should be fairly easy to outbid if the Sox actually wanted to
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) You're the man. God damn right. But really I have a ton of miles to use. Might as well use them on my baseball team.
-
I've already told them I'll sign up for my season ticket package again this year if they sign Cespedes. I will absolutely fly from Texas to see them play. Just get it done.

David O'Brien @DOBrienAJC 2m2 minutes ago David O'Brien Retweeted Ken Rosenthal Braves could've moved Olivera to 3B to make this work. Am told don't want to trade Markakis. David O'Brien added, Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal #Braves talked to Justin Upton's camp about reunion. Story:... http://fb.me/4hSmyad40 https://twitter.com/DOBrienAJC

In case you're wondering, hearing nothing has changed with the Angels: Still want to stay under the tax, still not going after Cespedes. https://twitter.com/Alden_Gonzalez/status/689502299836706821

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:41 AM) It's been done a few times, actually Great. I'll start linking my account on here.

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) A guy who consistently makes up stuff & is never right. He's copying that Mets blog clearly. Are we going to start posting incarceratedbobs reports on here too?
-
I may be the only one who asked so far...but who the f*** is Mibelt Rodriguez?
-
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 10:24 PM) There was also a lot of talk that Detroit & KC wouldn't either & here we are. Detroit yes but nobody bought their denial in the first place. Angels have a new general manager.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 10:19 PM) Joel Sherman and Heyman tweeting a lot about how good of a fit Cespedes would be on the Angels. Sherman has been on top of things this offseason. Ofcourse he's a good fit. He's a good fit for alot of teams. But the Angels said recently that they werent going to give out a contract like that. Seems to be suggested that they are a little spooked about those deals after the Josh Hamilton incident and Pujols.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 10:07 PM) I agree. People complain about not building a consistent winner but then want them to sign long term deals that willbe awful in 3-4 years. Pick a lane. I prefer the patient uild the team through prudent trades and drafts. Great. Be patient. Trade Sale,Q and Abreu. That'll require ultimate patience going through multiple years of losing and waiting for prospects.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) I can see the direction Hahn is taking. He's incredibly patient, and that is driving a lot of fans nuts. Better he be in his job than many of us. Breathe, people. As for Ventura, can't argue with that. I mean they can only be patient for so long. Pressure is mounting now. 1 premium player left on the table and a division rival got better. Apparently now the media is starting to jump onboard with the fans.
-
With everything that's been said. It does seem that the pressure is mounting for the White Sox to do something. Especially now that Upton signed with Detroit.
-
QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:47 PM) Bruce Levine reporting the White Sox have offered Cespedes a 3-year $27M contract. Probably won't get it done. Ok that sounds like bull
-
The people complaining about the Sox not signing him is a little silly. But being mad about him going to the Tigers is not. Division rivals getting better isnt a good thing.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) Gotta figure some of these guys will pass on theirs (Ian Kennedy needs an opt out? Really? He's going to get more than that?) Right...but it seems to be clear now you have to have it in the contract somewhere. Just to give the player the option.
-
The question is would Cespedes want an opt out? Upton is younger. Not sure Cespedes would opt out getting well into his 30s.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) Problem is that might be all it takes to break up this Sox core if they struggle this year. Hopefully it's with a new general manager if that happens
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:35 PM) Free agency has really sucked as a Sox fan so far Well it's essentially been non existent for them
-
Hey we finally get a good view of what a contract for Cespedes will look like
-
Oh good...great news
-
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:04 PM) Ah gotcha. Wasn't sure what type of context the conversation was in or anything like that. FWIW, I'm really starting to think the Sox end up with close to nothing before the end of the season. I just tried to cover all the bases we've been discussing on here. The 3 year deal rumor,Fowler,Cespedes and Garcia in the OF. The most important one atleast for me was the by Friday he signs expectation. I just want this to be over with. But obviously if he does get the contract he originally wanted i dont think it'll be from us.
