  1. Way to play the game the right way Swisher. Too bad we can't have you and Rios both out there patrolling the OF.
  2. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) Damn...De Aza is still available. Darn...I wanted to see a pitcher hit with the tie run on base. De Aza pretty much looks like a pitcher up there anyway.
  3. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) Really. Sometimes the pitcher is just better. Hell, even Ted Williams was 'bad' almost 60% of the time during his .400 season. People need to keep things in perspective. If Beckham misses consistent meatballs and can't do anything with ordinary pitching that is one thing, but DONT DUMP on him when someone does to him what Bard did... it indicates you never have played and/or understand the game of baseball. Bard was nasty, but let's get real here. Beckham struggles to hit most fastballs.
  4. So let me get this straight. We're all in still, but managed to weaken our rotation (not saying the Jackson trade was bad), and leave huge holes at 3B, CF, and DH. Baffling to me.
  5. Ozzie should be fired for how he has made up the lineups for the past month and a half.
  6. So all I get from this is that KW wants Beachy or a similar pitcher in return for Quentin.
  7. Good trade for both teams. Jimenez is cost friendly and at worst a solid no. 3 with Cy Young potential. Gave up two really good pitching prospects, but prospects living up to their hype is at best 50/50.
  8. I question Mike Rizzo's ability as a GM if he makes this trade. This seems like a classic example of a GM falling in love with a certain player and over paying badly for said player.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:20 PM) Just trade him for someone else's bad contract. Jason Bay maybe? I would do that in a heart beat. At least Bay doesn't have a reputation of being a POS on the field.
  10. At this point, you either got to eat 75-90% of his salary and hope there are some fools out there who think they can fix him. If not, then I think you gotta say see ya and cut him. If you are trying to build a winning team, there is no way you can justify keeping him. Adam Dunn looks like Charlie Hustle compared to Rios.
  11. Well, this team NEEDS to add at least either a third baseman or center fielder with some sort of offensive output to even think about being a serious contender. Also, Dayan needs to come up and start playing 75% of the time (Rios finally got shown the bench, now its time for Dunn).
  12. I don't get this deal at all for the Astros. Congrats to the phillies for getting a great ball player without having to give up any MLB ready talent.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) He said he doesn't pick up a bat in the off season. That no where near means he doesn't work out or condition. Just by judging his body from this year compared to previous years, I don't think it's a stretch to say either his workout habits have slacked, or he hasn't made the proper adjustments in his workout routines to offset his body getting older and slowing down.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Wow. I'd turn that down to. Neimann is a big risk, and Howell has not been the same pitcher he once was before the surgery.
  15. This team needs a third baseman bad if it has any plans on competing this year or next. Morel can play defense, but his bat is terrible and not MLB ready. And Vizquel needs to get the hell off the 25 man as soon as possible. And please god, no Dallas McPherson. There needs to be someone brought who can hit or who the organization will be able to hit and at least be able to platoon at 3B with Morel.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:57 PM) I didn't list 3B because it's clear he shouldn't be playing 3b. You stick his ass in the outfield. Well, that argument would make sense if he hasn't played the vast majority of his career, including at the MLB level, at 3B. And considering the Brewers still haven't made a position change, I think they would be willing to deal with the below average defense at 3B if they thought he would be able to hit at all. I don't think the Brewers think he can hit MLB pitching.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) Alex Rios. Shoot, that is pretty much a wash offensively there. At least Morel will hustle.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) Gamel does have some good potential. We'd give him a shot at 3b it would seem. However, price is going to be high for him since he's Prince's replacement. I was under the impression that Gamel wasn't really part of the Brewers future anymore. He also has some serious work to do with his approach. He looks like Russ Branyan/Ross Gload at bat, and thats a terrible combination.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) He'd be far superior to Morel offensively at 3b Who wouldn't. If we wanted to take a gamble on an underachieving third base prospect, KW should make a move for Ian Stewart. At least he can play some defense.
  20. So we trade Teahen only to replace him with his younger, cheaper self?
  21. Not saying I am upset at the notion that De Aza is gonna get most of the PT in CF for a while... but why did this team wait so long to make a change? I mean seriously, I don't know if he would have done s***, but couldn't we have made this change like almost 2 months ago?
  22. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Halladay's two years in the NL would be his second and third best ERA's of his career. Lee is having his second best year ERA wise. You could say in fact that they have gotten better in the NL. Look at Halladay's numbers from 2008 till now. If you see any significant differences in domination, please let me know. And lets get real. Lee has never had numbers in the NL near the numbers he put up in 08 with CLE.
  23. I wonder if it is at all possible to make a Rios and a prospect for Uggla. Uggla's power numbers haven't been terrible this year, but his average is only slightly better than Dunn. I don't know if the Braves are ready to give up on him yet considering the contract they gave him. However, I do know the Braves are looking for some speed in the OF.
  24. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) If KW dumps Q/Danks/Thornton for cost controlled talent, Rios will be DFA'd. Considering teams can still fall in love with his potential and tool set, I'd feel pretty confident either a trade involving an equally bad contract coming back or us picking up at least 75% of his contract could still happen.
  25. If Sale gets Avila without much trouble, I say you keep him to finish it... Great play by Quentin.
