  1. I loved Robin as a player, and liked the hire at the time, and thought he did a very good job last year except for his brutal management of the bullpen and overall roster during September. However, I felt like he got the players ready to play pretty much everyday... but now it is looking more like the players showed up last year more as a wake up call with Ozzie and all the coaches being gone, as opposed to the extra practice they went through with Robin and his staff. I have no idea how Robin just sits in the dugout game after game without showing any emotion, and then parades the same lineup out there day after day with no accountability on this team at all. Sure, the front office did nothing to help, but I am in awe by the lack of discipline on this team which showed it could be extremely disciplined last year. It would not surprise me at all if Robin steps down, both sides claim it being a mutual split, and he goes back to his role of roving instructor/go back home in Cali and relax and play golf. Hopefully Williams leaves with him.
  2. He definitely has shown more promise in his one inning as a reliever as opposed to his 30 some ABs as a hitter. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see him make an attempt at becoming a reliever sometime this year or in the offseason.
  3. I'd guess Keppinger because he is heating up at the perfect time, has the ability to play multiple positions, and will not be expensive to trade for (if the team trading for him takes on his whole contract). Rumor or not, the Yankees do seem like a likely destination as they need the versatility and they were one of the teams trying to sign him in the off season.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 04:47 PM) Getting rid of Dunn just to lose his salary with the amount of salary we are dumping already is lunacy IMO. Whats the point of keeping him if a team is willing to take on a good portion of his contract?
  5. Hopefully Dunn keeps on this hotstreak and a team in need of 1B/DH be willing to take a chance on him, and take on most of his contract. Also, I wonder if it is more than a coincidence that Dunn finally started to hit once the White Sox pretty much established themselves as a terrible team in late May/Early June. So far in his time with the White Sox, this has been the only time he has gotten to play for a team pretty much entrenched in last place, and this has been easily the best he's looked since he played for the Nationals in 09 and 10. And unsurprisingly, the Nats finished easily in last place both of those years.
  6. Granderson just screams bad idea, I think. I really think playing at Yankee Stadium has created bad habits for Granderson, plus I think with all the hand injuries this year, it's not out of the realm of possibility that it would take at least a whole year of playing everyday again for him to find his swing again. It could turn out to be a solid move, but with the way the Dunn signing turned out, I think it would be wise to avoid giving out any big money to guys with strikeout issues who have habits of being feast or famine. Speaking of Dunn, if he keeps up this hot streak and gets his average above .200 with his power numbers, I think he could be traded without eating too much salary. The Orioles definitely need a DH, and I could see them being interested as Dunn batting .200 with his power numbers would be an improvement of the platoon they have going on right now. Also, Jake Arrieta seems like the perfect "Coop Can Fix Him" type of guy if the O's would be willing to trade him for a year and a half of Dunn.
  7. No, you don't heavily shop him but you listen to offers, like you would do with anyone on the roster when the team is this bad. However, with Reed as opposed to some of the other guys we might be willing to depart with, you can hold out for a great package as Reed can be considered part of the retooling/rebuilding. Reed definitely has the potential to be a top of the line closer for the next ten years, as he has good stuff but more importantly he has become a better pitcher over the past 2 years. However, there is no way the Tigers will overpay for Reed by giving up their top prospect and one of the best prospects in baseball who can play 3B or LF. If anything, the best chance the White Sox have at acquiring Castellanos is if Peralta gets suspended soon for PED's. If that happens, you might be able to get the Tigers to overpay for a combo of Alexei and a reliever, and be willing to pay Castellanos (still doubt they would ever trade him within the division though unless they know something everyone else doesn't) as there really wouldn't be any other SS on the market as attractive as Alexei for a team thats trying to win now who just had a massive hole at SS open up.
  8. Having an odd amount of teams in each league is just unsound (just as having an uneven amount in each league was). You either need to add a team in each or delete one in each (deleting would probably make more sense, but we all know that is not going to happen, so we need two more). Best places from all the research I have done have to be Portland where support for baseball and a team seem pretty high, and probably somewhere in South such as Nashville, San Antonio, or the Carolinas. Las Vegas would be nice, but that's not happening. The idea of adding another team to the playoffs is really stupid, but what are you going to do. People will do anything if they think it means a couple more dollars in their pocket.
  9. QUOTE (W1CK3D @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 10:37 AM) I just hope he isn't another AJ Hinch, a coach with no managerial experience yet we know how that one turned out. I guess we will know within a year from now how he is. The difference is that AJ Hinch was a front office guy who was hired to run the team completely on sabermetrics.
  10. My favorite thing about Ventura is that when no one thought he could cut it at 3B, he worked hard and transformed himself into a gold glove third baseman. I really hope he does the same thing as manager for the Sox. I really don't understand the outrage about this hire. Surprising? Yeah, but there were worse moves you could have made. There is no doubt that Ventura knows baseball as well, if not better, than the other candidates. There is no doubt that Ventura is a good person and hard working. The only doubt there is about Ventura is how well he can manage a clubhouse and players. But I feel that Ventura is such a respected and smart player that he might be able to learn quick. Will he succeed or fail? I don't know, but I think he has decent odds. One thing I know for sure though, he will be easy to root for because he is a great person who loves baseball and hopefully won't make a full out of himself and bash the whole fan base when things don't go right.
  11. As glad as I am that Ozzie's gone, it's still only a fraction of a problem. Kenny still being the GM is a joke.
  12. If everyone on the team had the same work ethic and commitment to the game and hitting like Konerko does... I bet people would be begging for Walker to stay right now.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) If people are genuinely making anti-hispanic remarks or even threats against the Guillens, then they have every right to criticize them, and there's plenty of reason to think that stuff does happen. We just don't want it here. What I took from Ozzie Jr.'s quote was pretty much him implying that this is a fan base and specifically this site is filled with racists. Now it does happen, but I bet someone would have to spend all day to find a handful of blatantly racist quotes about Ozzie Guillen on this site, or all the other sox sites combined.
  14. I love how the Guillen family continually criticizes the fan base with no repercussions.
  15. Well, he will probably get called up soon if the attendance continues to go south.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) He's just a really good pitcher. The trade has never seemed worse than it does this week. The ironic part is that he has not only out produced Edwin, he has outproduced Rios, Dunn, Morel, and Beckham with the bat.
  17. Honestly, the amount of contradiction and non-sense Ozzie has done and said this year is mind blowing. Does he really think the average Sox fan is that dumb and gonna believe everything he says? And I can't honestly believe Ozzie believes anything he is saying either. I have never been a big Ozzie fan, but never in my wildest dreams ever thought he could be this ridiculously bad as a manger. It really seems like he is doing a George Costanza and really trying to get fired.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) Dunn ...............................................Now 3-for-77 against LHP with 35Ks And I can honestly say not one of those three hits were hit even remotely hard.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:33 PM) It would be hard to. Two other candidates, Wade and Hendry, will be out of a job shortly. How could I forget about Hendry. I've always thought Hendry was bad, but his past 3 years have been pretty freaking terrible. Its almost like they are trying to see who can waste more money on terrible offensive players.
  20. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Fortunately there is Unfortunately, over the past 3 or 4 years, I honestly don't think there has been a worse GM in all of baseball.
  21. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) I think there is a possibility that Adam Dunn would be claimed The only chance of that is if there is a GM out there that is worse than KW.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Yet they keep their jobs...this is torture. The only positive is IF they do hopefully and rightfully so get fired, at least KW and Oz won't get a say in the hopeful rebuilding process this summer.
  23. I really hope we see Dunn in the cleanup spot and Rios in the 6 hole for the rest of the damn season. If that doesn't justify Ozzie getting fired, I don't know what will.
  24. God, it's nice seeing a CF hustle for a shallow pop and then seeing the LF backing up, exactly where he is supposed to be.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) Jeff Abbott says hi. Morel has no power and has walked 3 times this year. You constantly have been on Viciedo for not walking but this guy takes that to a whole different level and you look the other way. Why? I think most would kill to see Morel, Beckham, Dunn, and Rios all put up the same level of production Jeff Abbott put up with the White Sox.
