Professional question. So I stated earlier that I got a pretty dismal raise for having such an excellent review. It turns out, they probably used the money pooled for my division to give another member a promotion raise. She decided she's leaving now and I was thinking of asking for a salary adjustment. I figured the straight forward approach would probably get me laughed at. I am going to get an offer letter with a greater salary and hopefully use that as leverage for salary adjustment. This job is good but the pay is just crap. That's why I would like to stay but the monetary reasons are starting to become glaring each day. I'm not saying this idea is or isn't good but I wanted to get some input from people who have been in this s*** a lot longer than I have.

That's just highway robbery. In reality most people pay like 50% of their income in taxes. s***, they take 33% for income now and when I pay for the consumer and utilities taxes, I imagine it's pretty close.
