The pitching was absolutely horrible. I was shocked to see us give up runs everytime we scored a f***ing run. I thought Jake would do a better job than he did. Gavin and Axe are who we thought they were.

Yeah this Axelrod experiement should be over. He did alright against a less than harmless Seattle squad but he absolutely got crushed by a superior squad. Atleast he a can bunt for a hit?!?!!?!

The flip flop sounds good but it also stacks 3 righties in a row. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. Kepp and De Aza have to do a better job getting on base because Rios is hot right now. What about if we did... 1 De Aza 2 Kepp 3 Gilespie 4 Rios

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) Nats too good. 6-5 Nats. Preposterous. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) Some girls really like that and, in a lot of cases, I think it serves as a confidence booster too. If you've asked the father for his blessing, and he's given it to you (begrudingly or otherwise), you'll go into the proposal itself with a full head of steam. It really is to each their own. If you do it, great; if you don't do it, great - just make sure you're happy. I already said that you thief.

White Sox avoid the sweep today. Axelrod goes 9 innings and gets the W. Sox 7, Nats 1. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 11:46 AM) Oh, I completely get it. I just find it shallow and nothing more than a dog and pony show. And since you love tradition so much, if you do this, I sure hope you waited until you were married to have sex for the first time, too. Oh, wait, you like one tradition but not the other? I forgot...it's all about respect. This does not bode well.

People probably know what the father's going to say before hand but it's all subjective. If both parties are satisfied with whatever they decide, that's the more important aspect.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 05:14 PM) North Korea tells foreigners to leave South Korea. This is bad. Not sure if you're serious or not but this is pure saber rattling. They are just upping to the nth degree. North Korea knows they are isolated and not even China will help them if they do something stupid.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 09:58 AM) Yeah, you are right, then they start allowing the ball handler to push him back off... It's just stupid...that is not defense, it is a foul. Sure but it's a ticky tack foul. Michigan turned the ball over way too much and it wasn't due to the pressure probably 80% of the time. They also played no defense. They started playing not to lose and they lost. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 09:34 AM) But the officiating did favor Louisville's style of play, which eventually wore down Michigan...whereas if they would have called a tighter game, then the game gets played more along Michigan's style and they win the game. What drives me nuts about college basketball is that they allow the teams that pressure to foul constantly. The play that stands out is when they allow the pressuring defenders to ride on the ball handler's hip as he brings the ball up the court. Coaches have done a very good job of teaching their defenders to then lean on the ball handler. Now I don't know how much you play full court basketball, but it is incredibly annoying to have a defender leaning on you and pushing you as you try to bring the ball up the court. And if the ball handler slows down to try and shake the defender, then the defense brings over another defender to trap. Once a team gets a trap on, the officials will almost never call a foul. So instead, the ball handler is rushing the ball up the court with a defender riding and leaning and pushing him, which is where you see the errant pass or the out of control drive to the basket, where another defender suddenly slides over right as the offensive player leaves the ground to attempt the shot, and a charge is called. And so much of it stems from the one play that the refs do not call...all they have to do is refuse to allow the defender to ride the ball handler and so much of this would go away and then we'd have basketball again... The refs allowed Michigan ball handlers to push them off the entire night and didn't call a foul. They were simply letting them play. I remember Hardaway Jr. was bringing the ball up with Siva pressuring him and he just pushed square out of the way. There was way too much theatrics for my taste on both sides and that's probably why there was hesitation for calling fouls. -

Officiating was inconsistent and sucked all night. I don't know who got the better end of the deal but it was definitely out of hand. That being said, Louisiville outplayed Michigan in the 2nd half and won the game. AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE! That game was Michigan's to lose. They let cock boy hit 4 threes in the span of a minute and half and didn't even contest them. -
It's a man's daughter! It's just respectful to do because a father wants to know who will be taking care of his little girl the rest of her days (knock on wood). I second what Illinikrush said.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 8, 2013 -> 04:53 PM) So I find this all very old-school, is it still common place to do this? I know it's a way to show respect to the father in law, but I just thought this was out-dated. Outdated or not, I personally believe it's something that needs to be done. It's sort of nice to find out if your father in law will be in your corner in the future or not. Some fathers might not be too peculiar about this but it's better safe than sorry. As for OP, you should do whatever makes you comfortable as far as the venue goes. Dinner at his favorite resturant sounds good.

I think they called it a charged because the flying leg kick into the opposing player not because of his defensive position. -
So does that give Vicideo a +1 in the WAR category?

I like our chances to win the series. Could be biased but I just think with Gio being a lefty that he's going to get shelled.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 8, 2013 -> 09:59 AM) You still have to transfer to the red line though from the Metra right? Or is there some route I'm missing? Green or you can xfer to the Red at Roosevelt if you don't want to walk the extra blocks from the green. 147 is my favorite because you get dropped of a block east of the Green line Randolph/Wabash stop.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 8, 2013 -> 09:50 AM) I go to about 3-6 Sox games every year, but I also plan a Sox group outing every year which gives the Sox $1-1.5k (patio party + game tickets for 20+ people). I may go to more games on Sundays since ticket prices are so low now, but I live at the very northern border of Chicago so it's still not "easy" to get down to the ball park (yes the redline goes all the way down to it, well ish with the construction, but that's a long train ride). I live in Rogers Park too man. You can hop on the Metra to blaze down there if you don't want to deal with the Red Line or hop on the 147 express at Howard Station.
-
FWIW I plan on going to more Sox games this year with the prices dropped. I also work at IIT so it's a small trek to travel after work for the games. I'm not sure why people keep bringing this topic up. The Sox fans are who they are and will probably never change so... DEAL WITH IT!

Don't blame that on T-Flo. Wilhelmsmen found his groove at the right time.
