  1. imagine if coop can turn Surkamp into Santiago 2.0 we would have just gotten Eaton for nothing.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) Well then I guess we're down to Semien I highly doubt Semien is going anywhere.
  3. great signing. worst case we flip him at the deadline.
  4. pointess to trade viciedo.... de aza is gone.
  5. QUOTE (balfanman @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) Let me say that I'm impressed too and think the team is in better shape then they were 5 months ago. That being said, I don't believe that Hahn has exactly aquired 'Blue Chip" prospects either. Davidson, Eton, Garcia, Abreu, eyt. are all nice prospects, but I don't think any of them are top 50 are they? Please correct me if I'm wrong (I have no doubt that someone will), but it's not like the Sox now have a stable of "Top of the Line", "can't miss" youngsters. I realize that you would of had to of had top of the line players to start trading with, but just sayin. I feel like often times many "blue chip" prospects end up playing poorly and are in reality overhyped. There have been a lot of 50-100 ranked players who wound up becoming very good players.
  6. Keith law insider piece saying the sox won the trade. Basically praises Hahn for recognizing we have the ability to replace Reed, and for getting a young bright 3B in the deal. LAW LOVES HAHN!
  7. Seems like everyone is forgetting we still have Johnson under the wings, who has the potential to be a #2 starter along with all of our new pieces. Sale, Quintana, E. Johnson, Abreu, Eaton, Garcia, Davidson Wow. That is one heck of a young core.
  8. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 14, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) Not saying you're wrong but who do you think misses those marks? i'd say Abreu is the most likely to miss his personally. more along the lines of .250-.260/20 HR I'm hoping i'm wrong.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2013 -> 03:01 PM) Hooefully Hawkins has a snapback season. Coming into 2013, BA considered him a better prospect than Garcia or Eaton, and he was only slightly behind Puig. if hawkins can snap back into the prospect he was thought to be, along with our #3 selection and our new additions, the future of this team would be looking very bright.
  10. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 14, 2013 -> 01:22 PM) Don't think my earlier post will truly come to fruition, I'm just merely having some fun with what ifs. I'm hoping for something in the realm of... Eaton- .275/.360 30-40 SBs Abreu- .290/.360 30 HRs Garcia- .270/.320 25 HRs if that happens we could very well see ourselves close to the playoffs.
  11. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:22 AM) I've never understood this "won the deal" mentality. It's not a video game. It's not about "winning a deal" based on your perceptions of value. It's about improving the team. Couldn't agree more. Different trades will benefit different teams in certain ways. They are meant to fill a need with a quality player without giving up something that will hurt the team substantially. We accomplished those criteria with this trade.
  12. If we can find a way to get lawrie without giving up Quintana.... wow. Lawrie, Abreu, Garcia, Eaton, Sale, Quintana yes please.
  13. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 06:53 PM) I know it's early, but has there been a Hahn trade in which it looks like we clearly won? "win" is an extremely relative term. we are winning in the sense that we are getting young-high potential players who we control for a long period of time, and saving money in the process.
  14. completely. winter meetings > grad school finals
  15. include De Aza to replace Eaton and give us Davidson
  16. QUOTE (balfanman @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 10:32 AM) Why is Kenny on there and not Rick Hahn? probably busy talking to agents/other teams
  17. isn't day 2 historically the most active day?
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 05:18 PM) McCarron, Manziel and Lynch dont even need to book the trip. Lynch in all likelihood may be runner up
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) Raise your hand if you've had enough of rumor talk. Now let's see if the Sox actually do something, in say, the next 56 hours. I vote next 12 hours, I need some excitement to get me through 6 exams in the next 2 weeks.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 12:53 PM) I don't trade a starter. Our pitching depth is grossly overrated. If we dont trade a pitcher, we aren't getting anything in return. None of our position players are worth anything except Garcia and Alexei. Need to give up something to get something.
  21. trading Sale would be a franchise-altering move, it needs to be treated as so
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 09:57 AM) Now that Sale talks are heating up, I'd actually try to get teams in a bidding war. Package I'd ultimately settle on, from Dbacks: Eaton, Davidson, Owings, Bradley, Trahan, Skaggs and Delgado. Sox toss in Nate Jones. You then hope in a few years you get this... 1B - JDA 2B - Semien SS - Owings 3B - Eaton LF - Hawkins CF - Eaton RF - Garcia DH - Viciedo Quintana Delgado Santiago/Skaggs Johnson Bradley You need a God's Ransom for Sale. Nothing less. If we can get that deal, I'll drive Sale to the airport
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 07:07 AM) If we get both guys and extend Headley to a fair contract, then I'd be willing to consider using Quintana as the key piece. Most of my trades start with dangling Hector. It wouldn't surprise me if this happened. There are still a few decent SP on the FA market. Hahn could use Quintana to shore up C and 3B, and then go sign another starter.
  24. thanks to mother nature megatron and torrey smith got me 11 points and I lost my playoff match ./season
  25. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 8, 2013 -> 11:29 PM) The timing of this release is suspicious. Couple that news with our reported interest in Headley... and I see Hanh making a leverage play. that's exactly what he's doing. we're not signing uribe, and if we do he's not playing 3B for us.
