  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 12:14 PM) A few of us talked about it a few weeks ago. I really didn't like the trade at the time, and still have some problems with it, but we said if the Sox make the playoffs, it has to considered a good trade. Garland would have been the 5th starter this year, and might not even get a start in the post season(Even with his rep, I still start 2008 Vazquez over 2008 Garland). Cabrera was huge for this club down the stretch. The move payed off, so far. Garland may not even pitch for the Angels in the playoffs IIRC. He won't be back next season, but OC did bring an "edge" this season, and he did out-perform the other big acquisition at the time in Swisher. As I said last week, Sox fans shouldn't be disappointed if they don't make the playoffs, because compared to where we were a year ago, this team has improved a long way. And we've made the playoffs now, so yes, you can call it a successful season. But I still think there is definitely room for improvement in the off-season. I'd like to see Hudson brought in at 2B, and to acquire Beltre for 3B giving up Fields in a deal (would Seattle do Swisher and Fields for Beltre I actually wonder). FWIW, Beltre had an .862 OPS away from Safeco, and I think he would hit over 30HR's for us at the Cell. I'd like to see another quality lefty brought into the pen, as I have questions over Logan over the long - term. Don't know if Ron Mahay is a FA or not, but someone like that who can do a job for you in the 6th or 7th inning with an ERA around 3 would be ideal. And if KW is working the trade market, I think he should try to go after these 2 type of players; 1 - A young CF who can step in from next season. Not sure who that is, but I would actually offer say a Vazquez around, and see if you can get that type of player. 2 - A young pitcher in the Danks or Floyd mould. Poreda may be ready possibly at some point next season, but if the Sox see a young pitcher they like, and they've obviously had major success recently with Gavin and John, go after that guy again.
  2. Bloomberg will definitely get voted back in FWIW. He's very popular over here, and there's nothing like having a billionaire in charge in the current economic crisis. His rationale is he thinks he's the only one who can fix it.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 11:59 AM) Keep in mind that a lot of the games that you would want aren't on VC (Virtual Console - where you buy it online). i don't believe Goldeneye is - most third party games aren't because the third party wants a large share of the profits. Oh that sucks. I'll see what's on there anyways, thanks for the heads up.
  4. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) The newer the game, the more space they take up. You arent going to be able to get a lot of N64 games Hopefully that Wii harddrive comes out soon, there are too many games I want to play I probably only want GoldenEye and that WCW/NWO Revenge game at this stage. All in all, I'm looking to spend just over $400 for the Wii, Mario Kart, Super Mario Galaxy, a few N64 games and some extra controllers / nunchuks (via E-Bay). Pretty good overall package I think.
  5. I'm going to get about 4000 points I think, and get the Internet, and a few N64 games on top of that. It was actually really easy to set-up my internet connection through my wireless network actually, so that was pleasing.
  6. So a few questions with the Wii; 1 - Do you have to buy the Internet Channel to actually use the Internet? 2 - How much are points to buy? And how much would old N64 games such as Golden Eye cost?
  7. WHITE SOX WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
  9. My guess is he'll still go to Los Angeles. Gerber and Auld is a decent duo for Ottawa, but they could still upgrade obviously. Either way, I think Tallon should of handled this situation better, but to me Huet will provide an upgrade on what the Bulin Wall has produced for the Hawks.
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 12:54 PM) The Packers Cullen Jenkins will miss the rest of the year with a torn pectoral muscle. Big loss for them, their defense suddenly looks quite shaky. All of a sudden the NFC North may be wide open.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) That's how much my tickets were and they are very good floor seats. I was pretty happy with the prices We're in the Press Box for where Sporting Events are, Row A Tier 300, fairly close to the stage apparently. Wonder if Noel Gallagher will go apes*** if someone jumps up on stage again (after Toronto).
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 01:31 PM) Kiffin ought to find a job surprisingly quickly. Yeah I thought he'd done a decent job actually, although a lot of that had to do with Oakland's D.
  13. I have the 05 World Series Sox Hat on right now. Getting some angry looks from some Mets fans in the office right now.
  14. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) BINGO!!! Thanks! It's a pretty darn cool song! I like that one. I'll have to check out their other stuff. You need to listen to I Predict a Riot then. You'll either love it or hate it.
  15. Got tickets to see Oasis at the Garden on Dec 17 today for $60, and also am seeing Kings of Leon in Philly in November.
  16. Well it's basically come down to how our young pitchers will do on the mound to determine if we make the playoffs this season. They've done the job all season, and Gavin pitched great on 3 days rest last night, now it's time for Danksy to do the same. I like our chances tonight, even though the Twins have had our measure recently. Time for some payback.
  17. It'd be nice if he got some recognition, but it's been amazing to see how far he has come this season. If we signed Orlando Hudson, we could have argubly the best 2B/SS combo in the game from next season. I hope it gets done.
  18. All I know, is that I'm much happier that we're playing them at the Cell instead of the Dome. It's a BIG night for our power hitters, especially the middle of the lineup. They need to produce, and with Blackburn's recent form, they should have some chances to.

  20. QUOTE (rangercal @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) same can be said for the redskins. Better execution and they win by 14+ I'd have to rank the NFC east as follows Giants Redskins Cowboys Eagles I'm confident we'll still finish top. Why Garrett abandoned the run I don't know, but I think yesterday was more of a wake-up call than anything. On paper, we should be better than the Redskins for sure.

    Entourage

Drama's message to Jacqueline was just hilarious. Easily the best character on the show right now.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) What strategy? The strategy of having an elite offense with multiple Pro Bowlers on it? I wonder why more teams haven't tried that, it seems to work. Well the Bears D used to be "elite" and teams would just struggle to put up points against them at all. And then when Mike Brown went down and you had Archuleta in at safety, and Chris Harris got traded (playing at a pro bowl level for Carolina now BTW), teams saw a weakness in the secondary and just decided, no we're not going to run against Tommie Harris and co., we'll just pass the ball al day long. And last season it worked, and McNabb has pretty decent success last night also. Philly really should have done better last night, better red zone conversion and they win last night.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) There's some good songs on the new CD (like Sex on Fire, I think that's the first one they played), but overall its just very...blah. If you like that song, you should check out either of their first two albums. They said they wanted to be the "American Coldplay". So there's you problem. I took think there's not enough Rock'N'Roll on there, and that's when the band is at its best.
