QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 05:36 AM) I don't know why you all think we'd move Fields.... We shouldn't considering Joe's contract situation, but I think if you want either Blanton or Duchscherer, you'd probably have to give up Fields to get a deal done.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) You guys should confuse DBAH0 and have him play Rover. Uhhhhhhh no.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 02:21 AM) Take advantage of drunk college girls on Lincoln Ave. Go to Edwardo's for pizza. Is that all the way in the Southside (just had a look on Google Maps for kicks) and it came up with a place named Dolton?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 10:03 PM) In fact, I'd go as far as saying that entering the season this is as bad of a WR corps as I've ever seen the Bears have. Yeah I'd say it's probably argubly the worst in the NFL right now (maybe the Titans and a couple of others), but the Bears are definitely down there.

Maybe Cena's taking time off to do a movie or something. And I hope Kane gets his mask back after this heel turn. Was so much of a better character with it on.
-
I'll play one of the corner OF spots then.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 11:20 AM) Another reason for Obama to pick Richardson (or Gore) as VP. I've heard a lot about Richardson becoming VP, as he'd be good for the Latino vote for Obama (although how would that affect white middle class voters who may then go from Clinton to McCain I wonder?). Who are the other main candidates for the position?

Happy Birthday to the Hawks fan!!!!

Right now, I'll say Ray Lewis.

I think Joe's just in a bit of a slump right now, and the ASB couldn't have come at a better time. Unfortunately I'd rather prefer he had a few days off, but he'll be playing in the game, although I don't know if he'll actually be used or not. He'll get a good contract in the off-season due to his numbers, but with Fields waiting to take over, I don't think the Sox would pay the $9-10M a season that Crede could certainly get in free agency, maybe even more. And with Uribe and OC's contracts coming off the books, that's about $17M in open payroll the Sox can use to either sign a Rafael Furcal, or upgrade at an OF spot if they decide to use Ramirez at SS and Richar / Getz at 2B.

I wouldn't mind playing 2B/OF, but I'll play anywhere (except catcher).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 11:02 AM) The Sears Tower is a great ideas, as is the Hancock building. Make sure that there is a clear view before you pay, or you will literally be looking at clouds. Grant Park and Millenium Park are very beautiful this time of year. Depending on what kind of food and price, I can load you up with ideas of places to eat. Too bad you aren't here Friday, or you could check out some of the financial markets. I'm staying right near Grant Park so I'll definitely be checking that one out. I probably want to try some Deep Dish Pizza while I'm over here, since I've heard so much about it on here.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) I think he is known as a super disciplinarian, which is why nobody likes him. I think thats why he has been run out of whatever town he has coached at That type of coach just doesn't work nowadays unless you have won championships. Coaches like Bill Parcells etc. can get away with that, nowadays coaches just have to be more player friendly if they want to have success, otherwise the players will just tune out.

Loss thread, 1.5 games up at the all star break

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) Teams that play great defense, execute offensively (and have some speed) plus have a solid bullpen rarely lose. The Sox possess one of those three things and the pen helps them a lot, but the lack of defense (even though they have some talented defensive players, the team defense has blown balls) and execution/speed (not just speed, but executation, ie, making solid contact and moving the runners over and in when all you need is one run). Having that ability helps you pull out lots and lots of one run ball games and games that you shouldn't even win. And when you dont' have that ability, you put your team in a spot where it loses a good share of games that it should win. Defensively the team would certainly be improved with say Swisher at 1B, Dye at DH (both Thome and Konerko gone in this situation which I can't see happening), and 2 new players in LF and CF who are good defensively. Just FWIW, who are the major LF's/CF's who will be FA's in the off-season? I think KW needs to target more hitters who can get on base more (like your Swisher's), but they still need to be able to hit for a good average. The OC acquisition has been a good one for what he has brought to the table offensively (after the 1st 2 months), but unfortunately, the guy just doesn't fit in the clubhouse, so he won't be back. Getting 2 draft picks will be good compensation though. -
Well I'm finally going to be in the Windy City this weekend, and I'll be doing some sightseeing on Saturday Morning, and maybe Sunday Morning before the Sox games. So what are the best things to do? I've heard doing a boat tour around Lake Michigan is meant to be pretty good (if anyone has any suggestions on what the best one is, I'm all ears), maybe going up Sears Tower for the view also? Gotta be something close to the Loop / Downtown though because that's where I'm staying.

Yeah O'Neill had a pretty bad reputation when he was coaching for the Toronto Raptors. Think he used to be on Larry Brown's staff once upon a time?
-
Any ideas on what positions everyone wants to play?
-
Well he ran into a pretty damn good hitting team yesterday. But I agree on the worries about him (becoming a 1 pitch pitcher, and his velocity being down), which were the problems he had last season. I'm hoping after some rest, he can get back a little to where he was earlier on, but I'm not overly optimistic.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 12:01 AM) Too early to say Tony Romo? I knew someone was going to say that. Until he wins a playoff game, then that's what more and more people are going to think.

Evans took a nasty fall on stage 9, but apparently it's only grazes he's got. Still only 6 secs beind Kirchen/

John Madden just collapsed in happiness. Really, this is just getting old. The Packers have all the leverage here, but they'll come out looking like ass-holes if they don't do anything, considering how loved Farve is. My guess is, eventually, he'll get traded or released, and either the Bears or the Panthers (don't know, Delhomme and Moore is a decent 1-2) will sign him.
-
Bit of a leadfoot driver are you Rowand?
-
These are Konerko 2nd half splits thru his career FWIW; .284 .355 .500 .855 He's the team captain, and arugbly the face of the franchise. I just can't see a move happening here for the foreseeable future with him.
-
Because? And yeah you'll say the doping I know. But I still think it's one of the best sporting spectacles we have in the world today.
-
He ain't going nowhere, at least not until the off-season.
