  1. Man I feel old now. Happy Birthday Alex!!!!
  2. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) 430 views and only a few posts... Gager you might be in danger of getting the ax if the ratings don't improve Are you volunteering your services there Ian?
  3. Darko's agent has said there's no chance he's re-signing with the Magic now as long as Otis Smith is GM. Don't think Otis has really handled this greatly, although we have ended up with a star in Lewis. Real chance now for the Bulls to get him, and they should do whatever they can to do so. A frontcourt of Wallace, Milicic, Thomas and Noah is well pretty good, and would make the Bulls favorites in the East IMHO.
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 06:52 AM) Do they have Squishees? Ah, yes they will. They should have Smushees instead.
  5. Just heard on the news that Terminal 4 at Heathrow was being evacuated and passengers are being searched. Not good.
  6. It's a tough question, but honestly I don't know if you can. Our bullpen is so fragile right now. You lose the most stable guy in there, how are you going to replace him? One of our own, or a free agent who would be more expensive than Jenks? Unless I got wowed by an offer, Jenks should stay IMHO.
  7. Entertaining show guys. Some thoughts; 1 - Jason was upset and had to go for a #1. Classic line there Mario. 2 - No suprise on Buerhle, pretty much summing up most of our opinions really. 3 - Kobe in Chicago. Uhhhh no. Maybe time for Darko talk next week though. 4 - With the Chris Young, I can't remember if this was true or not, but at the time there was some talk maybe Anderson could have been included instead. I love Vazquez, but I still didn't like that deal as it was hard to give up on argubly our best prospect who compares to Mike Cameron. Sure he's not producing now, but it's very hard for a young player to produce in the majors instantly. 5 - I agree on having a minor league segment. At least in this utterly depressing season, you want to have something good to focus on. 6 - Does anyone else think Jason could just talk to himself for an hour on this show?
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) Melvin Ely, Chris Mihm, Corliss Williamson, Jamaal Magloire, Joe Smith, and Marc Jackson. The only name that is really exciting on that list is Magloire, IF, he can get back to that form he showed a few seasons back. Hence why I thought trading for a young talented big such as O'Bryant would be a good idea. He won't contribute for a few seasons, but the Bulls can mould, and he could provide the low post need you desperately need. He got compared to Brad Daugherty before the draft IIRC. As for ninetrain's thoughts on Duhon (I think that was you, can't be bothered going back), well that is true about Duhon's shooting ability, but the Warriors could need a backup PG still if Ellis was traded in a package for Yi. Or, the Bulls could trade their 1st rounder next season for him, if the Warriors would accept that deal, because you're not likely to get a better big in the 20's.
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) That was pretty much my point. So who do you see the Bulls going after with their MLE besides Darko then?
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:35 PM) If he wants the MLE... I'll honestly be shocked if he settles for that. 40/5, or 50/6 is what I see him ending up getting. There are just not many bigs around with the skill level that he has, and he showed quite a bit when Brian Hill actually used him as a starter. I thought Toronto would really go after him, but since they've signed Kapono (for once Colangelo what were you thinking there?) they're probably out of the race. I'm worried the Heat might make a run at Darko now since they've missed out on Lewis.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Rashard Lewis agrees to sign with Orlando. 5 yrs, 75 million. Magic are going to let Darko walk. Get him Pax! Kapono to the Raps. 4 yrs, 24 million. WAY too much. Hmmm. Well right now I'm hoping we can trade Hedo Turkloglu for say Golden State's trade exemption, to open up cap - room to re-sign Darko. Lewis was our 1st priority and it's good to have him. He'll seriously open up the court for Dwight. Darko's agent thinks he could get 60/6, I don't think he's going to get that unless a team gets desperate. But I'd like for him to stay. But Milicic could be a VERY good option for Chicago. He's just got to be used right.
  12. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) yeah, I tried that a couple summer's ago and you don't realize the amount of energy it takes out of you; but nothing feels better than relaxing after a good swim Especially if you try doing things such as butterfly kicks (or dolphin kicks whatever you call it) for a lap or 2. Then you turn into the doggy paddle stroke . It does really give your legs a really good work out though.
  13. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 09:19 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2922738 Gomez a Ranger. I still think they sign Nylander also. The Edmonton Oilers have traded captain Jason Smith and forward Joffrey Lupul to the Philadelphia Flyers for Joni Pitkanen, Geoff Sanderson and a third round draft pick in 2009. Wow, shows how desperate the Oilers were for a puck moving defenseman, and how much Lupul's and Pitkanen's stock went down over the past season. Perrault had a fairly nice season for Phoenix didn't he? I think he's capable of being a solid #2 center. With Nylander, he really didn't score many points without Jagr, but if he could create some good chemistry with Havlat as he did with Jaromir, it could certainly be a shrewd signing.
  14. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 12:54 AM) I just can't see that being a big deal... how would THAT be the piece that holds this up. This has to be bunk info. Buehrle could be worried if he signs this right now without a NTC and the Sox continue to struggle and a team comes in with a real great offer, he could be traded. He wants that security to stay here. But I think a compromise can at least be reached. Buehrle should be allowed to have some teams such as the Cardinals which he'd be able to accept a deal to. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 12:56 AM) Let me clarify, a good team was put together by accident since KW is all for collection the Jon Adkins of the world. The team playing well was not an accident. So let's see, signing Iguchi as a free agent, and having him have a good rookie season was an accident? Getting A.J Pierzynski to fill our catcher need was an accident? KW made a lot of shrewd moves that off-season (and yes the Lee for Podsednik deal looks bad right now, but it helped us to win the world series so I'll always be thankful for that). As for the Jon Adkins, well is Gio Gonzalez and Gavin Floyd going to be Jon Adkins? You think Philly would like to have those 2 back now for Freddy Garcia wouldn't you?
  15. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 12:20 AM) Aside from winning its first world series in 88 years, which I think more and more I was an accident, An accident? C'mon dude, we won the world series because we were the best team in 2005. We had the best starting pitching etc., and we swept the final series. Now on this Buehrle situation, well it won't look good for the Sox management if indeed Buehrle doesn't sign because of a no trade clause, especially if they've agreed on financial terms. I just wonder if the Sox brass think Buehrle may at all in any of the next 4 seasons return to that post 2006 ASB level, which I think most people will think is pretty ludicrous considering his numbers and lack of arm problems as a pitcher. The Sox really gained momentum after 2005 and brought in a lot of new fans, increasing attendance and payroll. If Buehrle doesn't stay here, I think it's really going to hurt that a lot.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 02:56 AM) Wow....Golden State not only got rid of Jrich's contract and got Brandon Wright but they also get a 10 mill trade exception from the bobcats. Geeze, talk about a terrible f***ing deal by Jordan. Also, apparently Yi is demanding a trade from the Bucks. I wonder if the Bulls liked him or not. They could really set themselves up to be a MAJOR player for the West if they can handle things right this off-season. Garnett would be a major target obviously, but I also think they may make a run at Rashard Lewis. They could also offer Monta Ellis and a future first for Yi (assuming Mo Williams leaves the Bucks). How would a lineup of Davis, Jackson, Lewis, Al Harrington and Biedrins with Yi, Beldrelli, Matt Barnes on the bench etc. look? Pretty dangerous. Also if you're looking to acquire a big on the cheap, go after Patrick O' Bryant. He's got no future whatsoever with the Warriors while Don Nelson is there, and he could be had cheaply. The Warriors could need a backup PG such as Chris Duhon if Ellis was traded for Yi, so you could maybe try to work a Duhon for O'Bryant deal with other pieces included. And how do Portland look right now? They're going to buy out Stevie Franchise (oh how the mighty have fallen), Darius Miles will probably retire, and they're loaded at a lot of positions, especially at the PG with Jack, Sergio Rodriguez and Petteri Koponen (I think that's his name?). Add in Brandon Roy, Martrell Webster and Rudy Fernandez at the swingman spots, with Aldridge and Oden down low, man oh man are they loaded.
  17. FWIW, Hawes only averaged something like 6.4 rebounds this season, which many people thought were a big "red flag" for him. So I mean I think there's more of a chance Hawes will bust then Noah. Yes Noah's probably not starting material, but he'll give you instant energy off the bench in that Varejao role, and who knows, he may develop some offense arount the rim. But right now, I still think LaMarcus Aldridge should have been the Bulls pick last season, because he offers more of what the Bulls need right now than Thomas, you've got Noah to play the Thomas role. And if you don't pick either of those 2, who do you go for? The draft really dropped off after the 1st 8 or so picks IMHO. So Pax was stuck in a "no win" situation, unless he traded the pick for say Zach Randolph.
  18. I saw this little piece here; If you can sign Mark Buehrle to that type of deal, the Sox have GOT to jump on that.
  19. Didn't see this posted elsewhere;
  20. Looks like some promotions are in order for the likes of Gartrell as well. As for Floyd, well he's doing what he's been doing, and it's working. Time to move Contreras, use that money to sign Ichiro in the off-season, and call up Floyd.
  21. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 11:28 PM) While I see a Count trade being more like a salary dump in tha we won't get much back, I think Count might thrive in a weaking hitting national league and make KW look stupid again. So you're suggesting we hang onto the Contreras and bear the risk of his velocity decreasing, and his numbers getting worse with that contract on our books?
  22. The Ordonez situation you can understand. You couldn't offer him arbitration and risk him accepting it coming off that knee surgery. Plus not re-signing him allowed us to fill other needs and help us win that World Series in 2005.
  23. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) I guess it could technically happen w/o re-signing Mark. the sox could hang onto Mark for the rest of 2007, and try and work out a deal. Yet signing him would go a long way towards dispelling talk about the complete dismantling of the sox for 2008. [something if I were GM, I wouldn't want to be facing the same questions from the media for the next year. And it would relieve the pressure from Mark, who is and will be asked about that all the time]. anyway, if the sox are serious about competing in 2008 and beyond, they need to have a rock like Mark to build their rotation around. Why not come and sign him before the trades start happening? It might even make more teams up their offers for Jose and Javy. KW may also be trying to free up cap room to make a run at Ichiro or A-Rod in the off-season, which makes sense. If you can save around $20M in contracts in Buehrle and Contreras, get 4,5,6 top prospects for them, and sign one of the guys above, it could bring the team back quite a bit.
  24. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) First, the sox would have to re-sign Mark, ala what the sox did with Freddy. when first they signed Jose and Jon. Then they were able to flip Freddy. IMO, that would be the best way to start the "retooling". Not only is it good baseball sense, since Mark is the best sox starter, it's also the best way to show fans that KW's intent is to compete in 2008 and beyond, even if the sox start trading some players. I honestly think you could do it, even if you couldn't re-sign Buehrle. Garland, Vazquez and Danks are the 3 locks to stay. Floyd is just about ready. The Sox could plug a Pelfrey or Humber into the rotation, to continue the rebuilding phase. Pelfrey and say Milledge or Gomez or Martinez for Count would be a great offer.
  25. Oh please make this happen. He's signed thru 2009. Perfect for you then Omar. I would take any of the Mets top couple of prospects straight up for Jose right now, that's how much of a burden his contract has become.
