  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) Is Toronto trying to go for a non-American team for the non-American city or what? Might improve their chances of winning then.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) .906 OPS, 20 X-Base hits including 10 HR. Ok better than ok-ish then. I still remember that trade wasn't really getting favorable reviews at the time though. Still it hasn't turned out so bad for the Royals now anyways.
  3. So how long did that take you Dan (oh and am I banned now?)
  4. So who are some possible candidates to take over if Walker's head is indeed on the chopping board?
  5. Is 3:15 p.m late to be having lunch?
  6. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) Good to see Carter back in action. Wing is having a great year, good story. McCulloch seems to finally be succeeding in high A. That's 8 straight starts of 6 or more innings and 3 or fewer earned runs. During that stretch he has a 2.52 ERA and a WHIP of 1.26. McCullough's also starting to K a few hitters in his last few starts (IIRC), so I think if he's keeps this type of production up for the next month or 2, we'll see him in B-Ham to finish off the season if there's room for him in the rotation.
  7. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) I don't see how the Sox could trade Buehrle for Clement as the centerpiece. I know he's had injuries, but his offensive production has simply been bad. I don't see how you can project him to hit in the big leagues based on what he's done so far. On the other the Sox "scout the player, not the numbers" so what do I know? It'd really be trading for a "need" and not getting the best players in return. Kansas City did that when they traded Beltran for Houston. Luckily for them, Teahen has turned into a pretty good ballplayer and John Buck is having an ok-ish season last time I checked. We should be trying to get the best package available, no matter what position they play, or whether they're pitchers.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 12:36 AM) Not only is it because of his defense and the ballpark he plays in, but he would be a FREAKIN' ALL-STAR if he played in Seattle. WOWIE WOW! BMAC love at its finest. I am sure there are certain stats that can be manipulated to make BMAC better in certain areas, but I really don't know. I am not a huge stat guy. I overreactions. Please keep em coming, it makes my day. All I was saying is that McCarthy would be a much better pitcher this season if he pitched in a ballpark which suited his tendecies. He's a flyball pitcher, he's not going to do well in HR parks such as in Texas and the Cell. Put him in a pitchers park such as Seattle however, and the numbers would be much improved. In fact after his horrid April, B-Mac had a 3.55 ERA in May and in 1 start so far this month (he's had a blister problem) he only gave up 1ER. But oh no, B-Mac is horrible and he's never going to amount to anything good!!!!!!!! This is not to say I have not been impressed with what John Danks has brought to the table mind you.
  9. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) Is he out for the year? He has a strained back or something like that. Placed on the 15 day DL. Ozzie wanted to use him or Prinz the other day against Rowand, but neither of them could get loose. Prinz is now released, and Day injured.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) Pistons send Carlos Delfino to the Raptors for second round picks in 09 and 10. First sign of rebuilding? Watch him and Parker become one of the better SG combo's in the league from next season. Right now if I were to pick anyone from the East, I really like Toronto. Especially if they sign Milicic, which I'm very worried about as a Magic fan right now.
  11. Charlotte won 4-3. Phillips 6IP, 1ER, Aardsma picked up the win. He pitched 3 innings, but gave up 2ER, 1BB and 4K's. Don't think he's ready just yet. Pods 2 for 4 with a 2B, Sweeney 1 for 4, BA 1 for 3 in the DH spot, Snyder and Perez (not Tomas) homered. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb B-Ham won game 2 9-2. Wing picked up the win, 5IP, 0ER, 1BB and 3K's, ERA down to 1.80 now. And they even had some offense, Valido 3 for 4 with 2 2B's average up to .185 now, Aldridge 2 for 4 with a HR, and Nanita 2 for 4. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...biraax_hunaax_2 They also won game 1, 4-2. Eggy picked up the win, 5.1IP, 2ER, 2BB's and 5K's, ERA at 3.21. Valido 2 for 4 (he had himself a good all round day), Aldridge 2 for 3 provided the bulk of the offense. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...biraax_hunaax_1 The Warthogs won 9-5. McCullough picked up the win, 6.2IP, 3ER, 1BB and 7K's, ERA at 3.55 now. Omogrosso gave up 2R in 2IP of relief. Aaron Cunnigham had himself a game, 3 for 3, 4 runs and 2BB's. Armstrong the catcher went 4 for 5 with 3 2B's, Orlando 1 for 4 with a BB. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...wswafa_wilafa_1 Kanny lost 5-2. Edwards went 7 innings, 3ER, 0BB's and 3K's, gave up 2 dingers, ERA at 3.90 now. Gartrell went 1 for 4 with a HR, Carter 1 for with a 2B, Shelby 1 for 4 with a 2B. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...kanafx_gboafx_1 EDIT: I hate you Ace.
  12. Don't scare me like this Alex. I'll post a recap of the game in a sec (Dan can have a night off for a change).
  13. Who wants to be the hero here. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) The board is dead, this makes me sad. Lowest posts ever for a game thread I wonder?
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 11:53 PM) Not 2 mention that Texas has been horrid defensivly this season so when he does get groundballs it gets booted. Yep. Jon Daniels is in real trouble over there. Every move he's made so far in his tenure really seems to have backfired, with the Soriano trade, trading Gonzalez and Chris Young to San Diego for Otsuka, wasting a 1st round pick on Frank Catalanotto, signing Millwood to that big deal, not having an adequate rotation etc. Now there's pressure for him to get a real big haul for Teixeira.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 10:39 AM) Why do you make this statement? You do realize as bad as McCarthy supposedly was last year, Danks gives up more hits, more walks per inning and has just a slightly lower home run allowed rate than McCarthy did last year. I still don't understand how this site has McCarthy one of the worst pitchers to ever put on a uniform and Danks in the Hall of Fame at this point. If McCarthy pitched for say Seattle, he would be a candidate for the all-star team this season. He's just in a terrible situation over there in Texas, who need to be finding groundball pitchers and not flyball pitchers such as B-Mac.
  16. Maybe we were having a look at Todd Coffey? He's been terribly mishandled by the Reds and Jerry Narron, and I know Krivsky loves his relievers, but maybe he's getting sick of Coffey?
  17. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) good to see Podsednik is in midseason form I was just thinking that looks like a typical Pods line. Oh goody.
  18. You guys really do have some terrible journalists / media guys up there.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) What happened to Tuesday? Nevermind, I'm a moron. I thought it was Monday.
  20. Oh come on, I so called the Billingsley and Betemit deal.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) As a rookie, Cabrera put up a .752 OPS. Name me the last time any rookie from the Sox came up and put up those numbers? He's also only 22 years old now. He's not great, but he'd at least be a major league talent we'd be assured of acquiring. No doubt that's not a bad number for a rookie. But I also look at the fact that he has only has 34HR's in around 1800 AB's, and he's going to be a player who will struggle to put up anything better than a .400 OPS unless he develops power later on (which he may still do mind you). He doesn't steal a lot of bases, so really his only positives are defense and getting on base, which mind you aren't bad. You could say he's an advanced version of Jeremy Reed with a better arm. Is that the type of guy you want for Buehrle, instead of say an Adam Jones who's got better power potential etc.?
  22. There's a potential replacement for Walker right there. Get it done KW.
  23. Gartrell keeps on hitting, won't be long until he's up with the Warthogs.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) Morrow has some serious control issues. His K/BB is nearly almost 1 to 1. Nonetheless, he has a 1.80 ERA and immediately helps this team out. He's also a SP 1 year out from being drafted, and he's thriving in the pen, he would argubly be our best reliever right now. So I mean this ratio is obviously going to get better, but it's quite amazing what he's doing, hence his value would be really, really high right now. He's kind of on the same path as Mark Buehrle really.
  25. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) Cabrera is a hell of a lot better than many of the names people will pray for over the next few weeks. If anything, at least it would give us a good throwing arm in the outfield. I don't particuarly care for his throwing arm. The guy has enough problems putting up anything higher than a .750 OPS, despite the good plate discipline he has. He's basically another Ryan Sweeney, and that's not the type of OF we should be going after if we're trading our main chips at this point.
