  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 14, 2007 -> 01:54 AM) I have been listening to alot of Brand New, On, Failure, Led Zeppelin, a little ELO, and some I am Kloot. Brand New's latest album is great. Lot of good songs on there.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jan 13, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) Did somebody earlier in this thread say they had a chubby for two hours during Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Isn't that movie about people dying? I would with the new Texas Chainsaw Movie with Jordana Brewster.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 13, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) I LIKE YOU!!! Man Borat is awesome. But yes, I have seen them play without Nash....but not this year. He deserved the last 2 MVP's, but you could put an average player at PG with this years cast of characters (Boris Diaw realized he's good, Amare, Barbossa, Marion, etc etc) and they'd be nasty. He's having a great year, but there is no way he should be an MVP. Dwight Howard might be my MVP right now, i know they are in the east, but Grant freaking Hill is their 2nd best player. I'm a Dwight Homer, but there's no way he should be MVP considering how many TO's he gives up a game. As for the Garnett talk, I can't see the Wolves moving him right now, when they've won about 7 or 8 out of their last 10 games (something like that). Seems like they might finally have something going there. If I'm the Bulls I put all my eggs into the Gasol basket. I'd offer picks and players not named Deng, to try and get a deal done, because I think he's a guy who's available, and will put you over the top.
  4. Penelope Cruz - For the obvious reasons. Pamela Anderson - I don't fell the same way that Borat does about her. Salma Hayek - Same as Penelope, she doesn't really do it for me.
  5. If Dye would accept 40M for 3 years, I think we've got to make that signing right now. Yes it's a risk, but in this current market, you're signing Jermaine Dye at a discounted rate. And we need his bat in the middle of that lineup. Hopefully something can get done here.
  6. Interesting deal. KW gets some more of that young pitching. Hopefully the Sox scouts have seen something in this guy that they think they can change (maybe in terms of his mechanics etc.), hence why they wanted to pick him up. Best case scenario, is this guy turns into the next Bobby Jenks. And for a possible serviceable backup catcher who can't hit, I think it's worth pulling the trigger on this deal, just for the possible upside.
  7. On Beckham, he's certainly not what he once was, but he's still a pretty good player. If LA sell out most out of their games, and it raises the interest of soccer in America then it's a job well done. Until they start developing a better talent base though, the only way they can get better players to the league will be by overpaying them, because all of the good players will just stay in Europe. If say the top American team could somehow play in the Champions League (.01% chance of happening I know), then this would certainly hope the cause.
  8. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) it took me 4.5 years to get my first speeding ticket. i got one tonight. I'll try to one up you on the stupid stakes; I forgot to pay my registration and have been driving around with an unregistered vehicle for the past 2 days. Oops.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) I started bringing my ipod into work again (stopped doing it a couple months back) and I forgot how nice it is to listen to music/podcasts while I work. I listen to mine at work for about 4 hours a day, and so does everybody else (shows how productive we are).
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 11:54 AM) Here's All I could find from Rogers on Rasner: Toss in an article from Some texan site: Yeah that's what I was referring to from Rogers. Rasner could be the guy that turns to Danks trade from a good one, to a great one.
  11. QUOTE(HoosierSox @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 10:22 AM) I was just curious about this guy. Does this guy have any potential or did Texas just throw him in the deal to get rid of him? He was a 7th round pick IIRC, who struggled in A ball this season. Think he throws around 90-92 MPH though, and there was something in a Phil Rogers piece a few weeks back which was interesting about him. Expect better numbers in 2007 anyway.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 01:02 PM) She looks great on FNL. Did she have some work done? Wasn't she on 24 as well?
  13. We just got a new Gelati store opened up near my work. Good Times. EDIT: Which poses a question in itself. What's your favorite Ice - Cream flavor?
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) Dumbing it down Sabathia>Buehrle Contreras>Westbrook Garland>Lee(close IMO) Vazquez>Byrd Sowers>Floyd Now that doesn't mean a damn thing, and I'm not really sure why I just wasted 3 min doing that, but thats the way I see it. The thing is with the Indians, they don't have a lot of good young pitching in the minors which is unlike us. They've only really got Adam Miller, who's had arm problems, unless I'm just forgetting anyone else. I really like Sowers and consider him a mini Buehrle though.
  15. QUOTE(Damen @ Jan 8, 2007 -> 01:47 PM) Well, that was assuming McCarthy was to play for the Sox. Considering Garcia got to 17 wins on a 4.52 era (that sunk half a run in his last 5 outings), its certainly not out of the question that McCarthy could do the same with that level of run support. I doubt Floyd will do that with his ERA around 6, but maybe we'll get lucky and Haeger can take over the 5 spot. Floyd wouldn't be anywhere near our rotation if he's going to put up an ERA close to 6. Hopefully the Sox can turn him around like they have with numerous other pitchers, otherwise Haegar gets the job and Gavin starts the year in AAA. I'd at least give Floyd a chance to show what he can do for us, before writing him off though. A lot of people were doing that with Thornton when we acquired him, calling him a guy with absolutely no control.
  16. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jan 8, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) You've confused the football coach Bobby Petrino with the basketball coach Rick Pitino, and it looks like the falcons got him! ESPN Shows how much knowledge the Aussie has of the College Football scene.
  17. ESPN is reporting the Falcons have offered the head coach's spot to Ricky Petrino. Would certainly be interesting to watch with Mike Vick in that high octane offense.
  18. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 7, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) Props to the Colts. I really thought LJ might break a record yesterday. And LMAO@the Cowboys. Sorry DBAHO. You would laugh to if that had happened to anybody else but your team. Yeah I would. It's the 2nd time this season, something like that has happened to us though, maybe we're just jinxed with kicking field goals forever. Funny thing is, if Gramatica actually got a decent block on Babieneux, then Romo walks in for the TD. He was only a yard shy of the first down anyways.
  19. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 7, 2007 -> 04:44 PM) Any news on how Greg Ellis is progressing and if he will return next year? The defense seemed to totally change after his injury, which really sucks because he was having another good season in his first stint at LB at the pro level. No I haven't heard anything about it, which is probably a good thing. Still at his age, coming back from a torn achilles isn't going to be easy, which is why if there's a good young pass rusher who can play the OLB in the 3-4, I think we should go after him. And you're right about the impact it had on our D. Because then other teams are keying up on Ware, who was our only other pure pass rusher. Spears and Canty need to step it up next season though. Jason Hatcher is one to watch out for though.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 7, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) As you should. Typical performance from an Eastern Illinois graduate. This is appropriate as well in this instance. Watch people say this was a "team loss," even though everyone knows it's entirely Romo's fault. Similarily, I hate when such an idea is applied to baseball. There are individual losses, everyone knows it, but it's easier to toss blame across an entire team. There were key mistakes made in the game all round. That last challenge killed us though, even though it was the correct call. But Romo's mistake was inexcusable, and he should never be put in that spot again. TO won't be back (and good riddance Mr. Dropsy), I'm almost certain of that. I actually hope we target Mike Williams if he's cut, he had a very nice game against us last week, and he could be another Keyshawn still possibly. We need a stud free safety (becuase Roy Williams cannot cover as you saw tonight), another pass rushing linebacker (although Carpenter may grow into the role, and he was pretty good tonight), and maybe a new cornerback to replace Henry, although he has been playing with a bum knee. Offensively I think we're pretty well set, although we may try to find upgrades on the right hand side of the line, and get younger at the WR spot. And I hope Parcells is back, because frankly I think he's deserved better than what he's got, in his 4 years at Valley Ranch.
  21. Patrick Crayton. Defensively we're actually looking pretty good. Stooping Alexander on the un, and Hasselback hasn't exploited us in pass coverage. If Romo can get it going, I think we can run away with this, and probably play the Bears next week.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 7, 2007 -> 06:18 AM) Ok, Cintron put up a .310 OBP in limited time which was only 25 points higher than his batting average that's pretty damn brutal. Who's to say if he gets starters ABs that his batting average doesn't plummet taking that horrid OBP right along with it? I just don't get how you could use OBP at all, Uribe was terrible last year I totally agree I just don't see how Cintron is any better. Well Cintron is a career .280/.318/.409 hitter (OPS of .727), so I think he's shown throughout his career he can certainly hit for a pretty good average when he's given the chance. If only he was a bit more selective at the plate, it would certainly raise his offensive value. Uribe is a career .258/.297/.433 hitter (OPS of .730). EDIT: And I just looked at Northside's post. OOPS.
  23. QUOTE(beautox @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 11:09 PM) Podsednik might not have alot of value in the eyes of sox fans, but i think two years of Podsednik at around 7mil total is a reasonable deal for a B lvl SP spec that has a checkered injury past and a 1B who hasn't moved above A. Scott would certainly be better than Terrmel Sledge & Jose Cruz in LF and hes cheap, how much more $ do the padres have left to pay on Petco? The marlins got 3 good arms for Pierre in his contract year. Basically I thought the Cubs definitely overpaid to get Pierre. Hendry was stuck b/w a rock and a hard-place, the fan base was basically demanding that he get a leadoff hitter who gets on base by any means neccessary. Would Podsednik be better than Sledge and Cruz? I don't know. I always liked Cruz, he puts up a solid OBP (better than Pods's) it just depends on whether he can actually hit. And they've been saying good things about Sledge this off-season, although whether he'll produce is up for discussion. Would I call Carillo a B level spec? No, I'd probably say B+ because of the injury history, he'd be an A and probably already in the Padre rotation if he could stay healthy. So I'd definitely take him straight up for Podsednik, and I'm sure since KW values young pitching a lot, he probably would too.
