The official "Greg Oden vs. Kevin Durant thread
DBAHO replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(T R U @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) If the Celtics were smart they would trade Pierce and just rebuild.. Fire Ainge too That would be Danny Ainge's dream. Hell anyone not named Pierce on that roster is probably under 25. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:04 AM) Just wait until he cuts Tony Romo to give Rob Johnson the starting QB slot. We know, we know. He's got a pretty good career record for a coach so that's alright. Sticking with the 3-4 defense and keeping Ware as an OLB is a positive, so long as he can improve the secondary play. And that starts with getting a FS that can do a damn good job at covering, because Roy Williams sure as hell can't. Do I see Owens on the team next season? I sure as hell hope not, and at this stage I'd say it's 50-50. The thing is, if Owens leaves you'll need a replacement for him. And although this year's draft class is good with WR's, recent history shows that unless you're a real good one, you'll struggle initially. Hence why I think unless we can sign a FA to replace Owens, he's staying.

It's going to be real hard for Haeger to beat Floyd for that 5th spot in ST. And that's because his kncukle-ball just won't be as effective in Arizona. Dick Allen brought up an interesting point about the 5th starter possibly not being on the team yet. If all of the candiates really struggle in ST, KW may possible decide to trade one of the OF's in Pods or Anderson to try and get a 5th starter possibly? But Floyd should be the man to beat at this stage. No way do I want John Danks rushed to the big leagues if he's not ready.

Shows you how much Ozzie thought of B-Mac doesn't it.

QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) LoL!!! I actually like what ECW is setting up with the new breed vs. originals. Nothing more than the New Blood vs. the Millionaires Club back from the WCW days.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 10:36 AM) Oden. Durant has closed the gap a bit but in the end I take a guy that can be the best big in the NBA and it has been proven over the history of the game that the best bigs get championship rings. You can't always say that about the best wing players or the best guards. Unless it's Michael Jordan. And for the record I go with Oden. But if Philly get that #1 pick, it'll be interesting to see which way they go because Dalembert is starting to come on again. -
And so it begins;

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 09:24 AM) Why is this in the white sox section and not in the general baseball? Because he's a guy I think he can certainly help us in the future, and plus we get more discussion in here.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 09:21 AM) I will keep that on the back burner...luxembourg too. You could always play for the Luxembourg National Soccer Team. That's gotta be a positive.

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 04:45 AM) Was Bazardo with the Marlins before the Mariners? Yes. He was. He was part of the infamous Villone trade. I say that because for us to have traded for Villone at the 05 trade deadline, we would of had to given up B-Mac.

Poland. Don't forget Poland now.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) More of a general thing that related to this article, but why does everyone think Masset is Major League ready? His AAA numbers are unimpressive, only his K numbers are decent. I think probably because of; a) his stuff in terms of a power arsenal, and the impact Don Cooper has had on power pitchers B) his Mexican Winter League performance as a closer. I do see your point though.

All the best Nuke, stay safe out there.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 12:16 PM) Oh I definitely think I should now. Ha. Oh well, I can be your scapegoat now Bears fans.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 07:09 AM) VARIOUS SOURCES REPORT THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS HAVE TRADED FORWARD BRANDON BOCHENSKI TO THE BOSTON BRUINS FOR RIGHT WING KRIS VERSTEEG AND A CONDITIONAL PICK. Guess Bo never really got much of a chance with the Hawks because of his lack of speed. At least we still ended up with that 2nd rounder for Arnason.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) Umm both games are carried by ESPN and are at different times. Magic game going on now, Bulls game in about 30 minutes. Yeah I know, but instead of both games, we only only get the 1 instead. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 04:48 PM) Is this dude a lefty or righty? He's a righty. Certainly a lot better than most of our relief prospects though.

Why I hate ESPN down here. The Magic v. Nets game is on ESPN right now, but instead down here we get the Bulls (for about the 10th time this season) vs. Sonics game. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 03:54 AM) Eggy is still my guy to watch. I CALLED HIM FIRST DBAH0!!!! Uhhhh no you didn't. And I take issue with Wes Whisler being down at #29. Matt Long gets into the top 10, and Whisler is down at 29, don't understand the logic behind that at all.

Once again showing what a fantastic GM Bill Bavasi is; Now our 40 man roster is full at the moment, IIRC. Bazardo would be the type of young arm I'd like to stash on there, so who could we possibly bump off to make this happen?
