  1. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 18, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) If this team can get Zues signed for next year (and we'll assume he's back to full strength), Toews and Skille up (we'll assume they are ready), and sign 1-2 top 9 forwards (hopefully at least one of them being a top 3 forward), the offense will be good to go for next year. No reason it can't be at least league average, especially with an improved power play. Get rid of Aucoin and Cully (and maybe even Vandy) on the D, perhaps sign one defenseman in the 3-4 range to play with all the youngsters, and you have a defense that will only get better and better with each game. Habby i'm still up in the air about. Lalime still has a ton to prove. I realize Habby is making a ton of money, but what if next year we actually have a playoff team, and then find ourselves without a 'proven' goaltender? I'm not totally opposed to dealing him, it just really matters what we'd get in return. Where as with other guys, i'm fine dealing them for pretty much whatever. Dale still has 10 days til the deadline. He better accomplish something positive going into the offseason, and there's about 5-6 guys you could easily look to try to unload. That's the thing about Khabibulin. It's not worth trading him, unless you get a good offer. The cap is probably going to rise to $46M next season which makes it more feasible to keep him. If you can trade Aucoin, LaPointe and Cullimore that's about $8Mm in salary there, although we'd have to take some back. For Khabi, if we got offered a 1st round pick or 2, to me that's more valuable than getting a Martin St. Louis back. You can always target a good top 6 forward in Free Agency. This team has a good young core and I think we should be adding to that.
  2. QUOTE(T R U @ Feb 18, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) Yeah, hes a 6'11 guy who jumped up.. slapped 12'6 on the backboard WITH a sticker while catching the ball in the other hand and dunking it, first try. Was it the greatest dunk ever? No, but it was creative and he also planted it. He should got a higher score for that dunk. Not a 10, but higher than what he did get, it was pretty impressive. Aside from Tyrus' and Nate Robinsons continuous misses in the finals I thought it was a solid dunk contest. Gerald Green is awesome, I am still pissed that Orlando selected Fran Vazquez instead of him Remember that draft thread TRU? I was begging for us to take Green, begging I tell you. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Feb 18, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) Charles and Kenny certainly acted like it was. Hey, it was impressive. No doubt about it. But some are acting as if he should've gotten a perfect 50. That's all I'm saying. I think for one he was going to kiss the ring and then dunk it IIRC. He also wanted a 12 foot basketball ring, but David Stern nixed that idea, which is absolutely absurd.
  3. The Hawks past 8 games or so has really given me hope for next season. I think Lalime has showed enough so far to indicate IF Khabibulin was traded that he could handle being a #1 goalie again, but then again he's only been in a couple of games so far. Still I'd like to see Khabi traded for picks, free up cap room, and go after some nice top 6 forwards in FA.
  4. Hey Mark, if you want what Paulie got, I'll gladly give you that.
  5. He'd only be doing it for 1 reason. $$$$.
  6. You guys are all missing the point; DARKO >>> TYSON. And anyone see the week Dwight Howard had FG% wise?
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) Uribe had about the 11th best SLG% out of all MLB shortstops, and he had the 12th most XBH's. Using both OBP, SLG, and defense, I figure Uribe is probably about the 15th best SS in the league - meaning exactly in the middle - with the potential there to be a top 10 SS in the league next year. It's almost guaranteed that he can't put up a worse year, even with his offseason troubles. I'd probably put him at putting a .725-.750 OPS next year with the capabilities to go up to .800. I find that quite realistic, and so long as the glove shows up too, those will be great numbers. Personally I think Juan Uribe can consider himself very fortunate that he can play for the White Sox and hit half of his games at the Cell. Because the only good positive offensive stat he can argubly put up is SLG%. And if he was playing for say a team in a pitcher's park, imagine how much uglier those offensive stats would be. Do I think he's going to improve next season? I don't know, many people think he will, and if he comes in camp with the right playing weight and fit, he could very well do so. But he's done nothing but get worse since his 1st season here, and there doesn't seem to be a plan for him to get better, besides that leg kick which for some reason now he doesn't use. Considering where he hits in the lineup, I would rather have a guy who could put up a better on base percentage rather than a guy with an OBP below .275 who hit around 20 HR's. So if it wasn't for his defense, he wouldn't have a starting job in my view, and I'm sure most people would be in agreeance on that. So it's imperative in 2007 that he and Anderson can at least hold their heads above water and contribute. Whether that's going to happen with Uribe, I don't know. Frankly I'm more confident in Anderson improving more than Uribe in 2007 offensively.
  8. It's because he put some weight on this off-season I think.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 16, 2007 -> 10:53 AM) Who is a better player at this point of their career? Brady Clark or Darrin Erstad? I have no idea as I see very little of either one of them. What is your opinion? Would Clark be or have been a better option? What if Pods is traded? Would Clark be better than him? Probably Clark. The thing is, what would we get back for Pods on the open market, and what would the Brewers want for Clark. I think most of us would swap Clark and Pods in a heartbeat, but Pods has one thing over Clark which makes him valuable in Ozzie's eyes, speed. We signed Erstad because he's got good intangibles, plus he was a free agent, so you don't have to give up anything to sign him, instead of trading for Clark.
  10. Brady Clark was a guy a lot of people were talking about last season when BA was struggling. The thing is, we've just brought in Erstad for basically the role that if Clark was acquiried, he would play. So unless one of our OF's was traded first, I can't see this happening. We've already got enough of a logjam on the bench as it is.
  11. Well to top that off, the 1st time I flew back from Los Angeles to Melbourne (bout a 15 hour flight IIRC), we got diverted to Sydney and I was stuck on the plane from 8a.m to 1p.m, so that would mean I was on the plane for about 20 hours, which was not a great experience at all.
  12. Interesting to see Wilder replacing Duane Shaffer, who's moved to another role. A repucussion of KW's thoughts on not finding enough young pitching through the draft perhaps?
  13. The sad thing is, he now won't be remmbered for his career and all of the great things that he did, and the amazing crossover dribble he had. It'll be for this.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 04:28 AM) An awful lot of that though is the coming-of-age of Chris Bosh. 23.2 ppg, 10.7 rpg, both up significantly over last season in a couple fewer minutes per game, fouls per game down by 1/3, etc. That improvement also comes from the new offensive friendly style of play they use though. And guys like Calderon and Bargnani are starting to step it up. EDIT: And hey, DARKO'S BREAKING OUT.
  15. The Knicks could even make the playoffs at this rate, so the Bulls may not even have a lottery pick in this year's draft. I think Gasol is the man to help possibly put the Bulls over the top, and I'd include Gordon in a deal for him because of his weaknesses.
  16. QUOTE(OfficerKarkovice @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) ????? The 49ers already hired the Chargers LB Coach as their new D Coordinator about 2 weeks ago. Link It must be someone else I'm thinking of, the DL coach perhaps? I know Phillips wanted Manusky pretty bad originally though. And as for a veteran coach, Jimmy Johnson's name got thrown out by the Czar on FoxSports.
  17. Can I ask, if we're talking about a "fair" package for Garcia, based on the trades we've seen with similar starting pitchers, what type of package are we talking about here?
  18. When they move to Glendale, hopefully I will be in the future.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 04:23 AM) Why would you want to build a roster like the Suns? So you can lose in the playoffs? The Suns arent anything without Steve Nash anyway, so teams should look to pick up one of the greatest point guards ever if they want to compete. I actually think it might be different for them in the playoffs if Amare Stoudemire is healthy and playing well. Gives them that impact big in the middle they desperately need. But Dallas will be extremely hard to beat though. EDIT: Also look at Toronto. They were TERRIBLE last season. Now with Colangelo in as GM and the new fast break offense, they've actually been one of the best teams in the league over the past 20-25 games.
  20. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 06:59 AM) I know, but im talking where he had sable with him and he did the curtsy There's a Youtube Video with HHH bout 6 months later when he was feuding with Goldust, and Chyna was swinging Marlena (Terri Runnells) around like crazy. Funny stuff. With that gimmick, didn't he lose to the Ultimate Warrior in about 30 secs at Wrestlemania though?
  21. That's kinda crazy that I was actually there about 9 months ago.
