Don't think Alou is going to settle for a platoon job, especially when he can probably get an everyday job for a team like Cleveland.
-
The Padres are pretty desperate for a power hitting corner OF. I think they'll end up with Iwamura (the Japanese 3Bman who was posted) and Sheffield. Dave Roberts already knows he won't be returning to the Pads as well FWIW with either Giles or Barfield to lead-off.

Some thoughts on the topic at hand here; 1) Bonderman isn't going to get traded for young pitching. Detroit already has plenty of that in the likes of Sanchez, Zumaya, Verlander and Tata. If they trade Bonderman, it'll be for a LHH power hitting first baseman like Mark Teixeira. Now would you do Jim Thome for Jeremy Bonderman? 2) There's absolutely no way we get Mike Pelfrey. He's basically the Mets version of Brandon McCarthy. Phillip Humber I think is certainly attainable though, especially consdiering his arm problems which makes it a risk though. Humber and Gomez for Garcia could be a possible deal perhaps, but I'd like KW to look elsewhere, to the Texas Rangers. Try to pry John Danks away, or Eric Hurley or Thomas Diamond. 3) KW's going to have to wait until the FA market settles until we can see a trade of a SP here I feel. The Mets will probably try to fill their SP need from FA, before having to settle for a trade for a guy like Garcia or Vazquez. Luckily for us, that's where the inflated market value for pitching comes in. Jarrod Washburn's 4 year $36M deal he got last season is a perfext example.

Guess we'll be hearing more on this over the next couple of days.

Carlos Arroyo = one of the best, if not the best backup PG in the league today. He's my early favorite for the 6th man of the year, and if Jameer Nelson ain't careful (e.g stop turnin the ball over so much), Arroyo just may steal his starting job. -
I think it's all setting up for a big double cross with Juliet, and I think everyone knows it's pretty obvious that she's bad (although as I say that, I'll probably end up being wrong). Also, didn't Ben say before that there was some "other" who was really crazy or powerful or something? Wondering if the guy in the other station with the eye patch could be him maybe?

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) How the hell are they getting Teahen? Are you just throwing names out there? Why would the Royals deal Teahen? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Maybe because uber prospect Alex Gordon is almost ready, Teahen's value is pretty high and Dayton Moore wants to build the team around young power arms? Don't be so quick to jump down everyone's thoughts.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 09:54 AM) The Bears would have the same record with Griese or Orton at QB. Somebody go ahead and try to debate it, but it won't work, because it's fact. I'll debate it with Orton that's for sure. Miami also have a pretty decent defense as well, when they actually feel like playing. Probably a case of the Bears thought they had an easy win today, and it was far from the case. Probably the best thing that could have happened to them at this stage of the season.

Easily the most annoying loss of the season so far. At least Romo keeps looking good though. Looks like we've got a good one here.

I'm interested to see how high of a bid Tom Hicks and the Rangers make here. And if I'm a Seattle Mariners Fan, I'm majorly pissed at Bill Bavasi and Ownership for not even attempting to make a bid here.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) Sarge Jr. is more likely to go to LAA. If that's the case, I could see the sox making a play for figgins. He'd be cheaper than both Pierre and Matthews. What was confusing about Figgins this season, he had a .321 OBP as the leadoff hitter in 131 games, and then when he was moved to the 9 spot (last in the season IIRC), in 17 games he had splits of .352/.410/.593 (albeit it's a very small sample size).

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Please. Mack is very underrated here and it's too bad Ozzie's misuse of him makes people want him off the team or think can be replaced rather easily. Right now I think there's only 1 spot for either Ross Gload or Rob Mackowiak (unless a guy like Cintron is traded, but then you need another infielder). Here's how I see the bench; C - Blanco or Stewart Cintron Ozuna Then you have 2 spots for Gload, Mackowiak or Terrero, if you carry 11 pitchers (if I added that up right). And I think Terrero is going to be given a good chance to win a backup OF job for the simple fact he can handle CF defensively which Kenny Williams has said was something he needed to address. Who knows, Kenny could bring in someone else maybe even.
-
Makes Mackowiak expendable in the right deal, because I think Terrero will end up winning a bench spot for the simple fact he's a good defensive CF, which KW said one of the needs he needed to address for the bench in the off-season. EDIT: The guy also hit .318/.367/.560 in 302 AB's for AAA Ottawa after a 0 for 19 start. If he can handle the bat alright at the major league level as a backup outfielder, it's a good signing.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) There is no way they bring Hill back IMO, but I think Carter might end up down there. Carter and Nelson would be a backcourt than I WOULD like . Yeah, Orlando is up and coming though. Hill said he would probably come back for the minimum salary. Would be great to have off the bench. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) Best post player in the league, and yes I know Tim Duncan plays basketball still. Howard is unreal. Oh, and my sleeper MVP candidate has 21/10/5 in a game in progress. Mr. Vince Carter is the man, he's in a contract year, so he'll actually maybe, you know, try in most of the games. In which case, look out. And Vince Carter could be playing for Orlando next season. Imagine a lineup of; PG - Nelson SG - Carter SF - Turk / Hill PF - Darko C - Dwight -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However, they are killing the Bulls tonight. At least Hill and Nelson. And yes, Nelson is pretty good. The rest of them though are mediocre, other than Grant Hill, who used to be good before most of his body parts fell off. Show me how many other teams have a better guard rotation than that. Arroyo would be one of the best backup PG's in the league. Bogans and Doolins are good solid defensive guards to have off the bench. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) I haven't been able to watch the game but Jameer Nelson is not pathetic. Just wanted to clear that up. I'd call a guard rotation of Nelson - Hill - Arroyo - Dooling - Bogans - Redick and Diener one of the best in the league actually. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 12:21 PM) With the way the Bulls look right now, it's all I got right now, so lets talk fantasy hockey Magic came out firing on all cylinders. Dont know if the Bulls can close the gap in the 2nd half... Didn't like the way we finished off the half turning over the ball quite a bit and getting sloppy. But we've just gotta keep doing what we're doing, cos you know the Bulls are going to come back at us. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 12:07 PM) Dwight Howard is an absolute monster. I'll be dissappointed if he's not a 20/10 guy this season. Having a great game tonight, and his shooting is a LOT better than last season as well. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) Cough*fantasy hockey*Cough... 1 week dude. How am I meant to know that Alexei Freakin Yashin is going to explode for 7 points in 1 week? And hey a Darko sighting. Lucky he doesn't play for the Bulls or Willie would be hating on his Free Throws. -

I don't think you can. And it's for this major reason. Payroll flexibility. You move B-Mac, you're stuck with 5 starters who b/w them make almost 50M. Then you can't trade 1 say Garcia to the Mets for a Pelfrey deal, the Rangers for a Danks deal, or the Pads for a Carillo deal, because who's going to be the 5th starter then? Lance Broadway? A FA? Sign Dave Roberts on a 2 year deal, trade a starter for the best deal of young pitching you can get, move B-Mac into the rotation, and beef up that pen with the likes of Justin Speier.
