  1. It got over 100 here yesterday and it's over a month and a half til Summer. Needless to say, we're gettin the El Nino Effect.
  2. The Yanks will probably be all over him. The Red Sox will surely try to make a bid, because the Yanks are and they need a SP. Seattle probably will because they need SP and because they already have Ichiro. The Rangers have been mentioned that they'll try to make a bid for him. I imagine the Mets may try to get in the negotiations as well.
  3. From the N.Y Post; So if they keep Torre, it can only increast the likelihood of A-Rod getting dealt. And here's an example of a possible A-Rod deal; In our terms that's probably B-Mac, Josh Fields and Lance Broadway.
  4. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Oct 10, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) Thing is I only live 30 miles from the stadium but Traffic doens't flow well through there yet so I will only drive the mile and half. Once all the streets around the stadium are finished that will lead to more access to the 101 and to the I-10 Yeah the traffic was really bad on those roads especially when I went over last year. I remember getting off the plane at 2 p.m on a Thursday and the I-10 heading West was pretty much stopped. Have a great time though BHAM, should be a great spectacle.
  5. If Dallas make the change and put Romo in at QB, the NFC Championship is a distinct possibility for us. Either way, our pass protection needs to signifacantly improve from last night as well. Roy Williams needs to learn how to play in coverage as well.
  6. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) Nah, the Yankees don't want Freddy unless they could get him for a middle of the road prospect or get rid of Pavano's contract. Let's have a look at the Yanks current rotation; Wang - He's a keeper. Mussina - Free Agent I think. Could decide to bolt, cos he's had enough. Johnson - Almost becoming a liability. Wright - The Yanks have a $7M option, and a $3M buy-out. It's been mooted they'll trade him, I'd expect a team like Baltimore or the Braves to try hard to acquire him. Lidle - A Free Agent IIRC. Not sure if he'll be back. Pavano - Who knows what's going to happen with him, Cashman may try to trade him or buy him out. So that's 2 definite they've got coming back in Wang and Randy Johnson, albeit RJ ain't that good anymore. But that's 3 other spots they've got to fill still. They'll get one of Zito or Matzusuka I'd imagine, so that's 3. One of Mussina or Lidle, more likely Mussina will probably be back so that's 4. So it could very well depend on what they do with Pavano. Phillip Hughes will probably be ready mid-season next year, so Garcia makes sense for them in the sense that he's only got 1 year left on his deal, which gives Cashman the flexibility to trade him at the deadline to fill another need possibly. So I certainly think a Crede and Garcia for A-Rod package is feasible. And I like the idea, because it lets Josh Fields develop at Charlotte for another season (don't want to rush him), and you can let A-Rod take over SS in 2008 when Uribe's contract finishes in 2007.
  7. These ads for McDonalds are on down here ATM and they made a web-site for it; http://www.makeupyourownmind.com.au/ Really quite fun exploring the Maccas Kitchen.
  8. Parcells, please make the change. From Bledsoe to Romo, NOW! Against good defences with a good pass rush, Drew is basically useless. Now give him time against a bad defence and he'll cut you up. But if we want to make a Superbowl, we won't be playing "bad" defenses.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) If Lou Piniella became the Yankees manager, I have a feeling ARod would stay put. Yeah I saw that, and unfortunately I think that would be the case as well. Definitely shouldn't stop KW from making Brian Cashman an offer though.
  10. I'd offer them Crede and Garcia to start the negotiations. If you acquire A-Rod, get him to play 3B for 2007, and then SS for the years ahead, when Uribe's contract is done and Fields is definitely ready to play 3B. I'd get him more seasoning down at AAA. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 11:29 AM) Garcia, Fields, Crede and Broadway for ARod, Matsui and 20mil would be great. Yanks don't need Matsui, they have Sheffield and Abreu. I doubt Sheffield will be back next season, think his contract is up, not sure if they have an option on him or not though.
  11. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 06:21 AM) That's the reason why you need great scouts which the Sox don't depend on from what it seems. So we acquired the likes of Matt Thornton, Jermaine Dye etc. for basically no reason?
  12. So I just came back from an Indian Fundraiser Dinner, and saw lots of female Bollywood Dancers (shaken their booty, and other various body parts). Not something you would do every Saturday Night I'd say.
  13. Start speculating your deals folks!!!
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 02:00 AM) Why in god sakes would we make that trade. Garland is hands down better than Santana and while I love the offensive potential of Kendrick, right now he doens't even come close to holding Crede's jock strap. That would be bloody awful. I wouldn't say that Garland is hands down better than Santana especially when Santana has more scope for improvement with his numbers in the future seasons than Garland does I would have thought. They both have pretty similar numbers this season as well (although Jon was much better in the 2nd half of this season compared to Ervin). I basically threw that idea out because I got wowed by thought of having a future IF consisting of Kendrick, Wood and Fields for the next 5-10 years.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) I don't think the Angels would be willing to even trade Santana and Kendrick for Garland and Crede. They value their young players more than anyone, and they have enough money where they can go out and sign similar players to Garland and Crede if they have to. The package, from what I can gather, that Tampa would want for Crawford would be along the likes of McCarthy, Broadway, and another good prospect. Tampa isn't in a situation where they need to trade Crawford, so they want to get the most value that they can for him. I've seen things on this site about how Tampa would want someone like Jerry Owens in a trade. They have seemingly dozens of better outfield options than him. That's been Stoneman's motto in the past to hang onto the young players. But the Angels missed out on the playoffs this season and Arte Moreno has let it be known that they want to get a stud player in the off-season. So like I said earlier, if the Angels can't sign a good run producer in FA (and I don't think it's a very big class this off-season IIRC), they'll have to fill that need in the trade market. I wouldn't believe though that the Angels wouldn't offer Santana and Kendrick for Garland and Crede when they offered a deal of Santana, Aybar and Kotchman or Adenhart for Miggy Tejada about 2 months back. As for your Crawford suggestion, that's why it's improtant that we trade a veteran starter for a stud pitching spect, so we can include that in the Crawford deal. I'd have no problems with a Danks and Broadway for Crawford deal for example. And if people here think that Tampa would be interested in Owens considering the depth of OF's they have, well I have absolutely no idea where they are coming from.
  16. Danks would be a guy he'd be hard to trade, unless you got a stud player like Crawford back in return. Having a potential dominating lefty like him would be huge for the future of this rotation. The more I think about it, the more I like a Contreras for Danks and prospect deal. And here's another question. If you added Jon Garland along with Joe Crede in the deal to the Angels, do you think they would then offer say a Brandon Wood/Kendrick/Santana deal? That way, you could have a rotation that includes Buehrle, Vazquez, Santana, McCarthy and Garcia. You could then even trade Garcia to a team like San Diego for a deal around Cesar Carillo, and have a 4 way competition b/w Carillo, Danks, Broadway and Haeger for that 5th starter's job. Either way, it's fun to speculate about all of these scenario's, and it shows how many damn options Kenny Williams has this off-season. He's got talent to move to find the right pieces for this ballclub.
  17. QUOTE(ptatc @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 02:49 AM) How many GMs would trade a Liriano, Bonser and Nathan for a catcher. Who you release in a year. Do you think Brian Sabean would have made that deal, if he had realized how good those 3 players have become now?

  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) The Angels aren't going to give up Santana and Kendrick for Crede. I don't even think they'd give up either of those guys for Crede. The Angels can just use their money and make a big offer for Aramis if they want. But then again they could miss out on Ramirez to a team like the Astros, or he could re-sign with the Cubs, which puts them back to square one. They could trade for Manny Ramirez, but that's a big contract to take on, plus the talent you'd have to give up. They'll go for Tejada again, but I can't imagine the O's trading him now. So they're essentially back to square one in that scenario. If they would offer Santana, Aybar and Kotchman or Adenhart for Tejada, then maybe a Kendrick and Santana deal for Crede is possible. We may have to give up a prospect on our end possibly I don't know. But it's definitely something, if KW is offered, he should certainly consider.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 01:37 AM) Yes, I do that deal. I probably don't even need the prospect. I then turn around and try to deal Santana + someone (maybe even Iguchi) to Tampa for Crawford. I'm going to throw another curveball here. Would you rather trade say Contreras instead for a Danks and another pitching spect or someone like Arias, and then trade Danks instead of Santana in the deal? Personally if there was a way to hang onto Santana without giving up B-Mac, considering his stuff/age/contract etc. I'd like to do that. So you end up with Crawford, Kendrick and Santana, while giving up Crede and Contreras (and possibly prospects)?
  21. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) If we had decent ones, we would be talking about a Liriano type at least. We have no one like that in the system. But then again, how many teams have a "Liriano" type in their system?
  22. How's everyone's work life going at the moment? The reason I bring this us, is because I've had to work overtime everyday over the past 2-3 weeks (even though I am basically a casual employee). Gotta love your quarterly reporting periods.
  23. Right now if you were offered Howie Kendrick, Ervin Santana and a prospect for Joe Crede, would you do that deal? Kendrick becomes your utility man, and would replace Iguchi in 2008. I don't buy the Santana is average talk. Yes his away splits aren't good. But this is his 1st full season in the majors, and that 4.28 ERA he put up this season would put him in the upper echelon of our starters for this season. And he's got pretty damn good stuff too, so that would please the people on here who are calling for us to have starting pitchers with more velocity over control. If he's more consistent, he'll take a big step forward. And I think he could do that next season. As for Joe, yeah he's one of my favorite players. But the Sox brass have to realize if he's not going to sign long - term and he's going to test the market, then his value will never be higher than what it is now. You've got Fields waiting in the wings, so I think it makes sense if you get a real good offer, you move Joe.
