  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 10:06 PM) Wasn't that guy like 40+ years old anyway? There's only so much you could do with that gimmick, but I have to say I am a little surprised that Vince didn't keep him around through Halloween, at least. Boogey was doomed from the start - didn't he blow out both knees just jumping onto the ring apron from the floor at his first house show? Yikes!! And I thought he would have been good as the 3rd member of DX.
  2. At work the internet. At home also the internet, with some TV and Video Games mixed in. So survey says Internet for me.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Podsednik will not be back, so that shouldn't be a necessity. If you sign a Dave Roberts type of leadoff hitter though (.314 OBP vs. lefties compared to .372 vs. righties) than Ozuna could keep his role still.
  4. You'd have to get Rockstar's Table Tennis. For the cheaper price as well you can't go wrong.
  5. Someone's gotta lead off against lefties. Hence he'll probably keep his role for next season I would imagine, although his 2nd half of the season has been poor.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) I said this in another thread but I think it bears repeating and discussion. I would estimate between the regular season, post season, and WBC, that Garcia has thrown about 300 innings in the last year, with next to no rest. I don't think that there is anyone is all of MLB that has done anything approaching that. It doesn't surprise me at all that his velocity has been way down. It also doesn't surprise me that he thinks he can crank it back up for next year. And this is what KW has to ask himself, if he can get more for Jose Contreras than he could for Freddy Garcia in a trade this off-season, does he head down that route this season? Does Brandon McCarthy even become a starter for us? I saw a Sun - Times or Daily Herald article where Ozzie mooted the possibility they may have him start down at Charlotte next season. A lot of scenarios to play around with here, so Kenny's certainly got options up his sleeve in terms of which way he wants to go here. I think everyone knows though, something HAS to be done regarding our SP because it has been our weakest link this season, and it's probably going to cost us a playoff birth when it's all said and done (although I am still hoping for the playoffs of course).
  7. I believe you can sign up for leagues now. Now we had 2 leagues last year IIRC, Soxtalk League1 and Soxtalk League 2. So I assume if those people want to play again, we'll have those leagues up and running again.
  8. Would I trade Joe. No, unless you were wowed by an offer. And that would have been to be a stud position prospect like a Brandon Wood and a young stud SP, and I doubt we would get an offer like that unless a team like the Angels were desperate if they couldn't get a big bat in the off-season like Tejada or Ramirez.

    Buehrle

No doubt we'll be picking up Buehrle's option. You just don't let pitchers with his talent leave without getting any compensation back whatsoever. That said, if the Cardinals came to me and offered me a nice deal revolving around Anthony Reyes for Buehrle, that would be something that I would seriously consider. KW needs to consider how many innings Buehrle has thrown over the past 3 to 4 seasons, and how much stress it has taken on that arm of his which may explain some of his performances this season.
  10. To Freddy and the offense for getting it done!!!
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) 4 pages? Alot of people have taken a vacation huh. BA is really starting to look better at the plate every week. Maybe Ozzie will figure out he hits RHP nicely. We can only hope. Let's hope we can actually keep this lead though.
  12. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) I think he's about to leave... and we're going to have a new LF and CF next year, unfortunately. And the sad thing about that if that happens, you know he would turn into a nice ballplayer in a different organization which shouldn't be happening. Plus he'll be under that team's control quite cheaply for the next 5 seasons. For example if say Texas lose Matthews Jr. this off-season, Brian Anderson would be a very nice replacement for him.
  13. QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) Some guys can come out of the pen. Some guys can't. Some guys suck as starters and thrive as middle men. Some can't do it. I still say trade his ass before we can't get anything back And yet Brandon has thrived as a starter before. Why wouldn't you give him that oppurtunity to let him pitch where he is most comfortable again, especially for such a low price, which is becoming extremely important in the makeup of our team?
  14. I'd expect Brandon to put up an ERA in the low 4's and pick up about 13-15 wins for us next season. And yeah you may call that optimistic, but the guy showed what he can do as a starter. I would basically chuck out his ERA when he 1st started because he obviously wasn't ready and he had major problems giving up the longball. When he came back as a starter in the 2nd half of the season that wasn't a problem for him anymore.
  15. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 05:17 PM) If Brian Anderson got 500 at bats he's probably be hitting under .200. He wasn't ready for prime time at the plate; may never be. Now if they have a designated fielder ... he can play on any team, any day. I'm sorry but that's laughable. For god's sake, hasn't anyone seen Brian Anderson's stats from July. July - .313/.328/.469 August - .296/.367/.437 September - .243/.263/.378 Yes he would hit under .200 alright.
  16. QUOTE(tpezz27 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) Im with Greg on this one and Ozzie too....BA has had terrible at bats all year long. Even when he has been better and raised his average up to .234 he still has terrible at bat after terrible at bat. Im not sure why there is so much man love for him. He is a good fielder and a very suspect hitter at best.......and I never agree with anything Ozzie does or says but he definitely shouldn't be happy with what Brian has done! Mack playing center has been terrible. This guy is a utility player and thats it...he shouldn't ever be in center. Unfortunately this team was put together without a real CF or LF....Platooning Mack with BA and Pods with Pablo is a disgrace for a team defending the world series! Uribe has been terrible all season as well. Why Cintron didn't get to play over him ill never know. This team can't afford to have Uribe, Anderson and Pods all in the lineup.....no team can with how useless Pods and Uribe have become! I for one really hope we can get a starting CF and a starting LF for next year. If BA goes on to another team I won't be upset. Ive seen enough of him at the plate to think he might never get the job done consistently. This platooning lefties and righties is good if you want to be a third place team! How can someone who has post ASB splits of .285/.327/.439 have terrible at bat's after terrible at bat's? Aaron Rowand for comparison's sake last season put up a .270/.329/.407 line last season. So that means in the 2nd half of this season, Brian Anderson has hit better than Aaron Rowand did last season. And yet I didn't hear Ozzie complain about Aaron Rowand's AB's. What about Juan Uribe? Wouldn't you say he has terrible AB's after terrible AB's?
  17. I wanna see a Ozzie doesn't like Uribe article real, real soon. This BA hate is just getting old really.
  18. So the Jags look good early don't they. Looks like Reggie Williams and Matt Jones are stepping it up as the starting WR's, and they needed to. Makes our performance against them last week seem not so bad.
  19. So the 1.69 ERA he put up Post ASB last season was a fluke?

    Perfect Pizza

I'm actually going to try and make my own Deep Dish Pizza sometime this week, I got sick of you guys talking about it so much, that I figured I would see if it actually lives up to the hype. But knowing my skills in the kitchen, I'll probably screw it up.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Idonno you guys won... but didnt impress me that much. If anything Id say the Redskins showed they are more of a bad team. The penalties on both teams is pretty The Skins are just brutal on offense right now. They need to get that sorted out quick if they want to have any chance of making the playoffs. We pretty much just blitzed Mark "I'll throw 2 seconds before the rush hits me" Brunell all day long. Ware is a stud, and Ellis is doing pretty good too. Offensively I wouldn't say we're in great synch either. Owens obviously had a shocker, but there were a lot of dropped passes as well, but we still managed to score 27 points.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) Can't say I'm not happy about this news. Good time to have the bye. At least we showed tonight we can still score points without TO having a big impact.
  23. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) TO has a broken bone in his ring finger. He is going to have surgery tomorrow. Yikes, thought something was up with those dropped passes he had today. Any word on how long he's out for? And oh yes, our defense is GOOD.
  24. If we sweep Detroit, we'll be 2 games back of them. Minny play a resurgent Boston who took 3 out of 4 at Yankee Stadium. We'd need to be within 3 of either team after this series to have ANY chance. But that means our guys have to step up, and they haven't done that in the past couple of months. It's just annoying because you know the talent is there to win another world series but for whatever reason they just haven't gotten the job done.
  25. And we lose to Newcastle at home for christ's sake.
