  1. Not one of Wes's better outings but his ERA only goes to 2.62 after 4 starts down at B-Ham.
  2. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) And a Raw musing: Hahahahahahahaha, Lita tossed that damn spinner belt in the river and we've got an Edge "Rated R Superstar" spinner belt. Fantastic! Beautiful, I hated that old Cena spinner belt.
  3. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) I seriously want to know... for those who do not like him, please explain why. Probably just because people just get sick of seeing him win I guess. But you have to respect what he's done in his career so far no matter if you like him or not.
  4. Thoughts and prayers with you in this tough time Nick.
  5. Have a great one Tony!!!!!!!
  6. QUOTE(zenryan @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:06 AM) is there a site that I can watch live streams? nice win for Man U today! all is right with C-Ronaldo and Rooney on the pitch Do a google search on SOPCast, and you should be able to download their latest version. Has about 7 sport channels I think you can watch, including ESPN.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) Let me know when you have some time and we'll get together. The PGA was AWESOME yesterday. We sat on the 14th green for most of the day in the grandstands and saw some amazing chips and putts. And to the left of us was the 16th fairway and we saw some kick ass drives and approach shots to the 16th green. I'm really going to miss not having the Western Open here every year. I love watching golf in person. Yeah I would imagine it would have been a great spectacle yesterday, especially with the conditions they had, which was beneficial for low scores. And especially with all of the good players in contention as well. Personally hoping for Ogilvy to do the double, but Woods will be hard to beat.
  8. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 04:07 AM) Arsenal ties Villa 1-1. Arsenal did not look that great until Walcott provided a much needed spark. Also, Reyes is staying with the club. Yeah I watched the game live on the TV Streaming on SOPCast, while I had the radio feed of the Hammers game going. Arsenal just really struggle in the final 1/3rd in terms of actually getting a shot on goal. They have so much buildup play for no end result. When Walcott came on though, they actually had a purpose. He looked very good, and really quick and sharp attacking opposing full - backs on the dribble in the brief time he was on.
  9. Some really great stats here; Beckett has given up 32HR's in 26GS so far this season. Not even a Jon Garland in 2004 could approach that. He has a 6.75 ERA since the ASB in 8GS. His ERA+ this season, 88. Which means he's below average when it comes to the league norm. Javier Vazquez is higher on 91. He gives up a HR/F 19.3% of the time. Yikes. He actually has a higher DER ratio, then he got the past 2 seasons in Florida.
  10. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) Granted he's moving to the NL, but Moyer will get eaten alive at Citizens bank. His road ERA has been awful the past couple of years. I guess its not a bad gamble for the phillies because they didnt give up much. Yeah, it ain't going to be pretty when he's pitching at home that's for sure. If the Phillies can get him to pitch most of his starts on the road though, he could be effective enough. Not like they gave up anything for him anyways.
  11. I saw this yesterday on Santana; Just maybe, it will affect him and we may actually get a hit or 2 off him for a change. Huge game though. Will give us a 3 game cushion, instead of 1, and these are the type of games we probably don't expect to win when you look at the matchup, but if we can, then it's quite a breakthough in terms of our season.
  12. QUOTE(Pastime @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) The one thing that stuck out to me last night is that Garland was getting first-pitch strikes, and that is always HUGE. Those Twinkie hitters had no idea what was coming. P.S. I still hate Torii Hunter, and hope he's eaten by Bartolo Colon. Yeah it's such a fine line with Garland's pitches in terms of balls and strikes. His control really needs to be pin-point, but I always had faith he would turn it around, because he was just missing those pitches, and there wasn't anything wrong with physcially unlike say a Freddy Garcia.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 06:01 AM) Is it really necessary to save up all your stapling for the entire week and then use the loud ass electric stapler to do it in the middle of the day when everyone is trying to work....??? Replace the stapler, or at least hide it somewhere.
  14. A little late here, but congratulations Boz. It's always nice to go through the entire process, and then actually come out with the job.
  15. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) I despise driving down a street and coming upon an area where two lanes merge, because there's ALWAYS one jerkoff speeding about 10 mph above everyone else in an attempt to get several car-spaces ahead. Yeah we have that quite a lot down here too, although I will say, if I'm stuck behind cars, and I see that far lane open, I'll go for it, just to try and get ahead of the traffic. SnB please tell us more, this could be one of the infamous Soxtalk Threads that go down for the ages, if you catch my drift; Also on LcR's point tonight about people not turning right when you have a red light. Being in the passenger's seat while someone who hasn't driven much in America AKA my folks, when you get to these situations, it gets a little frightening to say the least. Especially when it's a 4 way intersection, they look left, seethat no-one is coming, BUT, fail to realize people directly opposite you are turning left into the road where you want to turn right (I don't know if that made ANY sense whatsoever).
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) Dont leave me out. I know our names our similar but im not associated with his hating and Ive always backed Garland Everyone wants to get in on the "I backed Garland before he turned it around bandwagon" all of a sudden. But IIRC you were on there as well.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) Think its too early for a thread just about the off-season? I really want to start hearing peoples ideas, becasue I know I have been thinking about it ALOT. (In know way do I think this season is over, I just am always looking ahead.) I think if you look around there have been quite a lot of discussions about the off-season, just not a thread basically on it. But IMHO, it's never too early to discuss ways you can improve your ballclub.
  18. West Ham beat Charlton 3-1. Perfect start to the season. Oh and SoxFan1, HUGE rumors going around that Sam Allardyce is going to quit Bolton and take over Sunderland. Sunderland losing 3-0 today under Niall Quinn ain't going to help things on that regard.
  19. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) Plain and simple, Ozzie is on the short list for worst in-game manager in the majors. He doesn't know when to pull a starting pitcher. He doesn't know how to handle a bullpen. He doesn't know who to walk and who to pitch to. He doesn't know when to play regulars and when to give them a rest. That has been pretty consistent throughout his tenure with the Sox. And this season he hasn't been able to motivate to play with fire and intensity. So here's my question: if a manager is horrible during a game, and can't motivate his players, what good is he? So how does a guy who's on the short list for the worst in - game manager in the majors win a World Series 1 year, and then has his team on top in the Wild Card standings with a good record the next season?
  20. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) I say let's do Podsednik for Pat Burrell. He's a good OBP guy plus Philyl will likely swallow half his contract a la Jim Thome. We have a working relationshipo with them already and they seem desperate to unload him because of his big deal and because they want to go with the out with the old policy. BUrrell strikes out too much to leadoff(plus he's slow although that hasn't hurt Kevin Youkilis) but he'd be a definite upgrade over Pods I should add that Burrell might want something to waive his no-trade which admittedly complicates things. although the same was said for Abreu and he didn't ask for anything more. Since Philly is benching Burrell to piss him off enough to make him want to be traded, he might just come here no questions asked Basically if you're going to acquire Burrell, Josh Fields has nowhere to play unless Crede is moved. Plus we would need a leadoff hitter still, probably at the SS position for Uribe. If you were going to go for an OF from Philly, I'd probably prefer Dellucci. Burrell absolutely crushes lefties though which has been a weakness for us this season, he has a 1.112 OPS against them.
  21. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) You've got to wonder what sport is clean anymore. Sad. Yep exactly. How many sports over the past few years have been tainted by this type of thing.
  22. My point on the Crisp and Hansen for Garcia deal is this. I would personally rather trade Garcia for prospects to an NL Team for say Cesar Carillo and someone else rather than trade him straight up for Crisp. I think you can find a FA like Dellucci who is really very similar to Crisp in terms of numbers, both being LHH's etc. BUT, if Boston were to include Hansen (and they would have in the Andruw Jones deal, plus his ERA is up to 5.93 now), I would do that deal in a second. I don't know how Epstein feels about Hansen right now, they might have soured on him a little after what he's done this season. Who knows how Garcia's going to pitch next season. The WBC didn't do him any favors at all you have to remember, and it's affected a lot of pitchers in a negative way.
  23. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) What about Omar Vizquel? Yeah he's having a nice season no doubt. But he'll also be 40 at the start of next season. I think the Sox would prefer more of a longer term investment if they were going to replace Uribe, because they don't exactly have anyone in the minors who's really ready to take over at SS. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) Those 37 SBs come with 11 CS. Fields has 25 SBs to 5 CS, and Rogo has 26 SBs to 9 CS. Owens has a sub 700 OPS in AAA, so I don't think he would be ready in 2007, possibly 2008. The one odd thing is the Sox will have to find room for one or two of them soon. If Anderson is locked in at CF, then Fields, Sweeney, and Owens are competing for the other 2 OF positions. That doesn't even count Dye. Personally I think the Sox see Owens' role in the future as that 4th OF, kind of like what Pablo Ozuna is doing right now. On Dye with these OF's in AAA, you can see why some people here have mooted him in a deal for Roy Oswalt. QUOTE(beck72 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) The Sox want to improve LF, and leadoff. But I don't think they'll do it at the expense of a solid SS, who gives gold glove caliber defense and enough hitting. Uribe is due for one of his hot streaks, esp. if his back is in decent enough shape. Is is just me, or does seeing Sweeney hit leadoff in Charlotte seem more than just a coincidence? I think putting Sweeney at leadoff in '07 would be too much pressure for him. Well then you would have to sign a FA like Dellucci or trade for one like Crawford if you still wanted that leadoff hitter at LF, and it's not Pods, but you don't want it to go to a guy like Sweeney either. KW certainly has multiple options on this though.
  24. If you could get say Crisp and Hansen for Garcia, that would be a deal hard to turn down. Otherwise it's more likely Garcia would be dealt to a NL team for prospects I would say. On Sweeney, I think Anderson's 1st half of this season may push the Sox Brass to start him in AAA next season. He should definitely be in the OF for 2008 though. Interesting to see Zazueta up at Kanny as well. Started off great at Bristol, and has tailed off a bit since then. He is somone to keep an eye on though. Kind of reminds me of Daniel Cortes a little, even though I don't really have a great idea on his stuff.
