  1. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) Where is dbaho when you need him? Getting sick of that slacker. :headshake Hey 2 finals on the one day excuse me (my right wrist sounds like a cement mixer after writing about 25 pages in 6 hours today).
  2. Hillenbrand is an intersting option, but I don't think it's cut and dry that J.P Riccardi will want to deal him at the deadline, unless he's wowed by an offer. Their lineup is weak as it is, when you've got Eric Hinkse, Corey Koskie and Hillenbrand as your main 1B/3B/DH guys. Hillenbrand has cooled down significantly since April too. May - .252/.316/.398 June - .235/.366/.294 And here's Joe Randa's numbers in those months; May - .308/.326/.440 June - .300/.378/.575 Now compare this with Joe Crede; May - .155/.211/.286 June - .308/.438/.769 The next month and a half are the most important in Joe Crede's career with the Sox so far. It could very well determine his future with this ballclub.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) He's back It was inevitable unfortunately.
  4. And you know who is looking a bargain right now, Michael Young. 4 years @ 10 million. Chump change compared to Rollins, yet he puts up better numbers.
  5. But he still manages to get the JR must spend more message across; http://www.suntimes.com/output/mariotti/cst-spt-jay14.html
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) Jay Mariotti, the epitome of professionaism. I really hope they run his ass out of Chicago. Anywhere but down under.
  7. Johnny Gomes should have never been sent down in the 1st place. He's got 20-25HR potential if he plays everyday and was just crushing the ball in AAA.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) Yup, my friend is going to UNC in August and I told him he's going to get to see a ton of good pitching prospects when he goes to Winston Salem. That's going to be a fun team to watch no matter who's out on the mound. Really our starting pitching depth is really looking huge right now, compared to 2 years ago. Honel's coming back in AA (although he still has a LONG way to go) and so is Corwin Malone, Sean Tracey's had a good year, B-Mac in AAA, Ray Liotta has dominated in Kanny, it's looking good.
  9. Kris Honel is coming back, and seriously let's hope he can still make it. There's hope yet, even thought there wasn't much light left in the tunnel about a month ago.
  10. The Warthogs are going to have a very nice rotation real soon. Broadway, Gonzalez, Lumsden (when he gets back from injury) and Wes Whisler.
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 04:56 AM) Furcal is the happiest. There will only be him and an injury-prone Nomar as the best shortstops available this offseason. Furcal is gonna get overpaid even more than Rollins. Too bad Furcal isn't maximising his value. He has a BA of about .220, and an OBP of below .300 IIRC. Brutal for a leadoff hitter.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) Baj's ERA is at 1.15 with 15 BBs and 35 SOs in 31.1 IP in the bandbox known as Knight's Stadium. And you have a look at that compared to Jon Adkins and Kevin Walker, who have BOTH pitched in relief for us before, and you know Baj definitely deserves the next chance.
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) Not sure why they would platoon two lefthanded hitters. On Jenks, seems odd they wouldn't promote Bajenaru first. It's not really for the fact that they're both LHH's (although I think it helps because we really do struggle against RHP). I'm just planning ahead if Konerko isn't here next season, and the Sox don't sign a replacement like Doug Mientkiewicz, J.T Snow or Scott Hatteberg. Of course there's Frank Thomas as well, and if he doesn't come back, that opens up the DH spot for a guy like Erubiel Durazo, or even Brian Anderson.
  14. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) With Neal Cotts coming around, I beg to differ. A right hander would be much more helpful to the Sox bullpen. The thing is with Cotts, his splits against righties are much better than against lefties. So, Marte is effectively our only lefty reliever who can get lefties out. Righties - .071/.264/.071 Lefties - .270/.282/.378
  15. Since this isn't White Sox related, I'm moving it to the Around the Horn section.
  16. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) I could see Jenks getting sent to Charlotte and Baj getting promoted. But, I don't think that Jenks is quite ready for the majors yet. I'd prefer to see Baj get a shot before Jenks too, but that's probably unlikely to happen. Jenks does have a nice long - term future though.
  17. And meanwhile Travis Hinton the PTBNL in the Carlos Lee deal (who also plays first base), has splits of .258/.341/.500.
  18. It's good to see Rogo on his way to Charlotte. A good half season there, and he could be in the mix for 1B next season if Konerko doesn't re-sign. A Gload / Rogo platoon wouldn't be the worst situation if they both hit to their capabilities. Jenks doesn't have the best walk ratio, 17 BB's in 30IP, but it's not catastrophic. Look at the other stats, 35 K's and only 1 HR given up in 27 games, that's impressive. Now who would he replace? I can only see 2 options. Willie Harris (since they're never going to send down Timo), or Shingo.
  19. I'd prefer Matt Perisho. Brower would be handy in the AL though, considering a lot of hitters wouldn't have seen his slider.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) JP Howell makes his major league debut for Kansas City tonight. He went to Texas and was drafted last year, making him the third (or is it fourth?) player from the 2004 draft to make the bigs. I really wanted him to fall to us, unfortunately, he didn't (oh well, we got Gio instead). Would've been real nice to get both of the lefties, but whatever... He does have a mean curve (Howell), though -- compared to Zito's, IIRC. My Dad was at that game, said he looked very good, 8 strikeouts a very nice first outing. Hopefully Lumsden does come on though (since he has been injured), but right now Howell looks the better pick for sure.
  21. Jermaine Dye vs. Righties - .239/.276/.419 Carl Everett vs. Righties - .218/.294/.403 White Sox vs. Righties - .244/.306/.382 What we really need is a LHH outfielder who can actually hit better against righties, but I'm wishing for the best of both worlds.
  22. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) Was the trade between the Padres and Athletics Kotsay for Hernandez, straight up? If so, pretty good deal for both sides, even if Hernandez might not stay with San Diego. I heard from some Pad fans that he wants Varitek money... I'm pretty sure San Diego got Terrence Long in the deal as well. But he's with the Royals now.
  23. If there's going to be market for Harris, the Sox will most likely want a reliever in return. A team like Milwaulkee that just dealt Junior Spivey, could want Harris to platoon with Rickie Weeks for a while. The Sox could have interest in a guy like Ricky Bottalico, or Julio Santana. Just something to consider, the Sox do have Ricky Gutierrez down at Charlotte IIRC.
  24. Just bumping this Contreras thread because of this little piece I found;
  25. Tony and Mike, I both offered you deals, I am looking for a good second baseman, and am willing to trade an outfielder for one.
