QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Sorry for changing the topic a little bit, but if Honel rebounds and has an above-average season, and Tracey/Mac/Gonzalez continue on there ways without any significant injuries, I think one has to start looking at our minor league pitching (starting pitching, too) as pretty damn good, and probably the top third in the MLB. It would definitely be a joy to see Honel succeed, as he's a local kid -- but man, if Mac/Tracey/Gonzalez all pan out, I think we're looking at one hell of a staff the next five-ten years. And, I'm still holding out hope that the Sox will take the risk (pay the man, as we don't have any supp. picks or second rounders) and go after Jered Weaver, as the two sides (Angels and Boras) have totally split, apparently. Man -- if the Sox got Weaver, I'd be one happy, happy person, as well as Jason and many others... Those early draft picks in the last MLB draft really helped rebuilt the young pitching for the farm, even though a lot of them are still down in the lower levels. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) Minny has the 7th and 18th picks...if the Bears trade their 4th and a later pick for those 2 1st roudners, the Bears could draft Johnson/Benson with the 7th and Williamson with the 18th. Why in the hell would Minny trade up for all things considering a RB!!?? They've already got Bennett even though they'll prob move him, Onterrio Smith and Meweldi Moore, a pretty damn good rushing attack already. They'll keep their picks, draft Williams at 7 considering they'll miss out on Burress and take the best available at 18. This is not a draft worth trading up for in the first few picks.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) idonno i really think this is the year the twins fall.... they lost possibly their best bat last year in Koskie and their 2 biggest bats in the lineup our young guys in Mauer and their 1B but oh well i guess we can see what happens when the season starts. A healthy Mauer, Morneau > Corey Koskie.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) Yes. If John Weisbrod could trade Steve Francis for Michael Redd, he'd be a very, very happy man. It also depends on the Doug Christie situation though.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) Actually, turnovers per 48 mins. 1)Francis 2)Wade 3)Kobe 4)AI 5)Ben 6)Curry Pretty elite company for Ben. Eddy has the most for big men by a solid margin. Anybody want Stevie Franchise seriously?

There's a lot of areas in which the Sox may improve from having A.J on board this board and which they WILL improve. Frankly, I'm not too concerned about his offensive numbers, because I know they'll increase from him moving over to the Cell from SBC Park. IF he can handle this pitching staff very well, and the ERA from the games he catches are significantly lower than say from the games Ben Davis caught last year, well that's going to make a HELL of a difference.

It's nice to be liked.

WHarris1 and I have been discussing the scenario of Curry and what to do when his contract is up at the end of the season, he's a restricted FA. Now I know some (not many) of you like Eddy (or in Jason's case love him), but there's a few different scenario's here that could play out which could make the Bulls better even if they lose Curry. My suggestion was this, Atlanta is supossedly in love with Curry and are going to make him a big offer come this off-season, whether it's a max offer we'll have to wait and see. My scenario was this, what if the Bulls and Hawks pulled a sign and trade deal like the one a few years ago, where the Hawks got Curry and the Bulls got Atlanta's first pick, and were able to draft another big like Andrew Bogut or the Lithuianian guy. Sure the Bulls would miss Curry's scoring, but Gordon and Deng are going to have bigger roles in the offense the next few years, and Bogut and Ankrulisyius? would add a lot more rebounding especially and defense with Tyson with the added shot-blocking. Definitely something to consider, although I think it's very unlikely to happen.

There's something else doubled there.........

The Bulls miss Deng because there's no real replacement who can come in and do all the things he can do. Sure Noc will be a player, and he hustles like hell on the court, but he's not a good shooter, and teams will attack him as the weak link. Duhon and Noc aren't really capable NBA starters at this point of their careers, even though Duhon's done a good job at everything but shooting thus far.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 07:23 AM) I know. But Baj should get a chance somewhere, if not for the sox then another team in need of a closer Baj could be a guy who could be moved mid - season in a big deal like Majewski was, if the Sox don't want to give many of their major prospects.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=250208015 ROFLMFAO Case in point, the Bucks had Mike James explode in that game and Van Horn making a contribution off the bench. The Bucks didn't have either of them tonight, but that didn't stop them either. The Celtics have now added Walker, not that I'm saying that's neccessary a huge upgrade.
-
The Bulls just need to hang in there during this stretch, and keep above .500 at all costs, whether they can do that or not, I don't think so. But there are some teams just above them like Orlando who have a brutal April schedule, so the Bulls are still definitely in there.

He's certainly doing his chances of making this bullpen this season no harm at all so far. I don't think it's much of a secret, a lot of us here would prefer it to see Cotts sent back down to AAA and starting to work on his secondary pitches, but KW and the Sox have to decide whether having 1 lefty in Marte and Vizcaino who's nasty againt LHH's is enouigh.

Interesting experience for me driving home from work tonight, was pulled over by the cops for the 1st time since I've had my license (1 and a half years) and I thought I was in trouble (judged by the "Oh s***" I yelled to myself), had the music blaring with the Garden State Soundtrack and was going about 55 to 60 in a 50 zone down a suburban street. Very luckily however, the senior cop was very nice about it all, and said it was only a routine check, and he proceeded to small talk me about my exciting daily life.

Have fun in Texas Nuke and have a nice break (well sort of).

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 5, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) The Bulls foul the right man with 22.4 seconds left. That would be Tim Duncan. He's 5-5 and he's gonna miss at least one giving the Bulls a shot. This games gonna go OT, I can feel it. Scrap that. He made both.

Spurs are gonna win here. Good. (Sorry got my Magic cap on)
