  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) Umm...the Pack won't win it next year and that's a gurantee. Don't forget the extra a in there.
  2. Oh yes, and there's a John Madden reference too; Brett Farve's Excuse-O-Matic
  3. Ok cool, I didn't hear about Ransom even though I knew the Scrubs inked Fox to a minor - league deal, who is a very useful reliever when his arm is healthy. I've heard the Osuna to Washington tidbits as well, but at least KW knows what the guy can do here, and he'd be worth bringing back to a minor league deal. You can never have enough good bullpen arms.
  4. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) Pablo put up some very respectable stats last year in AAA... 472 AB .307 AVE 6 HR 76 RBI 31 SB 12 CS 22BB/43K .759 OPS Plus, he's "26" years old... And he has had some short lived success at the major league level with Florida... I'll take him over Valdez... That would explain the connection, especially with Ozzie. If he gets a minor league invite, Valdez and Ozuna can have a spring training competition to see who becomes the backup SS, while the other goes back down to Charlotte.
  5. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) Joe Thurston... He was supposed to be their can't miss, we will not include him in any trade, prospect. Has anyone seen him play? What is his downfall? That was 2 years ago. Now Antonio Perez has passed him and Thurston has gone backwards. Here were Rotoworld's thoughts; He hit .284 for Las Vegas in AAA, and I believe that's a real good hitter's park.
  6. Going along with the thread, here are some guys who could be useful for minor league invites or contracts; Antonio Osuna Ryan Hankins (if he wants to return) Chin - Feng Chen (although we have a glut of outfielders already) Brian Boehringer Rich Aurilla Mark DeRosa Franklyn Gracesqui Cody Ransom (likely to resign with Giants though) Brian Sweeney Also Jim, I found this on Daigle a while back from Rotoworld;
  7. QUOTE(bulokis @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) I think Joe Thurston is a possibility he was designated for assignment by the dodgers. I can't really see much of a point with that, the backup infielder is going to have to play some SS, I don't think Thurston can do that. Plus we've got Bryant Nelson down at Charlotte even though he's a couple of years older. Pretty much, Thurston would be a poor man's Willie Harris if there's such a thing.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) The mentioned him as possibility for 25th man as a SS back up. Ozzie mentioned the backup infielder had to be able to play some SS to backup Uribe. So I guess that would mean if we signed Iguchi, Harris would probably be dealt, since I don't know if he's out of options to go back down to Charlotte or not. Still I don't see what Ozuna would have over Wilson Valdez who despite his OBP shortcomings when it comes to walks, hit over .300 at Alberquque and Charlotte.
  9. The BOB is a hitters park as well, so it's not like there's going to be a huge difference if he pitched at the Cell. He's a young guy with potential though, and he'd an excellent guy to give an invite too. The Knights and Barons rotations are going to be pretty stocked as usual in 2005, but I'm sure Daigle would find a place on there quite easily.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) The 6th playoff position is going to be the ideal slot to be in this year. Absolutely. I bet the Bulls would love to play Boston, New York or Philly, unless the Nets or Raptors can make a late resurgence. Chicago has had the wood on the 1st 3 teams all season long. They'll have to settle for 7th or 8th though, I see Orlando and Washington fighting it out for the 6th seed behind Miami Detroit Boston Indiana Cleveland
  11. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 07:17 AM) Huh, get rid of that crap at 7:00, and it looks like a damn fine evening. In my best Hank Hill Voice: "DANG IT!"
  12. Happy Happy Happy Happy Birthday!!!!
  13. QUOTE(LDF @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) i am impress with the out pouring of care. i hope some of the sox brass is seeing this. we has fans are a demanding group, but that is baseball. this is his health and everyone here knows how to seperate the 2. best of luck to him. Absolutely, I wouldn't consider the person who couldn't do that to be much of a person really. No matter what we may think of JR as an owner, my wishes go out to the Reinsdorf Family for a full and speedy recovery.

    I need to buy me a Wireless Access Point first unfortunately, and that'll put me back over $100.
  15. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 07:17 AM) Thomas is most likely a FA after this season. I believe Sox option for $10M or a $3M buyout something like that. Also Shingo only has 2 years of service time after this season, he is not even arbitration eligible. Does his age impact this? I guess Steff's copy of the CBA may be needed. It was a nice Konerko piece though. I think there's a player option for $10 million, and if that's rejected there's a $13 million team option (or it may be the other way around), so it's likely Thomas will still be here in 2006.
  16. Believe, BWAHAHAHA. Uh yeah, believe you're stuck with Shammy folks.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) A couple things before I forget.. those that are worried about Carl.. don't. He is already in awesome shape. And his attitude is amazing. I can't tell you how many times he promised a .300 ba. I believe him. Hawk confirmed DJ was at a family wedding (which is what I had heard). Freddy got married 2 weeks ago and ironically was in Cancun the same time Jim and I were there. There was an issue with his papers going from Mexico to the US so he had to go back home first, thus not making it to the fest. Not a big deal, IMO. Willie still has a bit of a chip on his shoulders.. but he said he's looking forward to Rock working him. That's a positive sign, IMO, from his "I am the s***" attitude last year. Speaking of Rock.. he was hysterical.. and for some reason was the only person my 4 year old neice would pose for a picture with. She was scared crapless of Southpaw. One other thing.. the guys from the World Crossing board were sitting next to us Friday night.. great guys. Melton talked their ears off for a good hour or two. That's real good to hear about Everett. I suppose I've come to expect the worse with him and Uribe with the reports of them not being in shape and overweight, but now it seems that they are ready to go for Spring Training. Hopefully Jurassic Carl can actually get through quite a lot of games this season, as we'll need him in the first few months especially. Let's hope he can get off to a hot start like he did with the Rangers back in 2003, it's certainly not out of the question.
  18. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 02:31 AM) oh thats why colon is so over weight, 100 hot dog contract Most of us thought the Tub of Goo's problems started with the Krispy Kreme Diet actually.
  19. QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) Maybe he should set a goal for actually getting on base. Maybe Willie needs to stick to making the team and having his manager on his side before he sets his sites on leading the league in stolen bases. I assume if you steal that many bases your at the top of the crowd. Bag Willie all you want about his stealing ability and rightfully so, but he shouldn't be criticized for his On Base Percentage, especially compared to others on this team. Harris - .343 OBP Podsednik - .313 OBP Perez (just for Gene) - .285 OBP
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 03:07 AM) Aaron's got a B arm for a CF. Everything I have heard is that Pod has a bad arm. That is another good reason for Aaron in CF. My thoughts on the subject too, at least with Pods, his arm won't hurt you as much in LF, which was the same deal with Carlos Lee, and why the Brewers had to move Geoff Jenkins to RF to accomodate him.
  21. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) I'm not a Bulls fan, or think that you guys should get Garnett. But Garnett is far from stuck up or selfish. My thoughts too, he just needs the right players around him, and the right situation. The T-Wolves are just having massive problems with player chemistry, with Spree probably going to be moved soon and one of Cassell or Hudson. If they could get Jason Kidd, they'd still have hope of doing damage in the playoffs (if they make it first). The Bulls won't prove anything to anyone until next month anyways, when they hit the road against some better teams. It'll probably make or break their season.
  22. I couldn't beat the Japanese dude on my 1st go of Mike Tyson's Punch Out, my favorite game on the NES. And they even have the Aussie Rules Footy Game.
  23. I bout a 62cm TV for my room a couple of weeks ago, I have no idea what that is in inches probably about 30 I'd say.
  24. I've watched Dan Rather once in my life doing last year's Presidential Election..... needless to say, once was enough.
