  1. Great to see Zach Braff being recognised, now if only they put Scrubs back on local TV down here.
  2. I know, you wouldn't have seen that type of form for about a year I'm thinking, or when Skiles first took over. They do seem to be building a nice nucleus of young talent, and have a system in place, but until they get a legiminate shot blocker, and as a team get to the free throw line about 20 to 25 times a game, compared to about 15 now, they won't be a playoff team.
  3. But you'll scare off all the newbies then. Oh well.
  4. I wouldn't say it's been Lee's fault at all, it would be very unfair and unjust to make him the scapegoat for the past few seasons. The guy has been our most consistent hitter over the past 2 seasons, and has improved in the field significantly as well. He'll be missed.
  5. What would you classify as a PS2 trade? Or a Gamecube trade? Or an Atari trade even?
  6. So Frank can pick up his $10 mill option at the end of 2005?
  7. It took me about 25 mins to read through the whole thread at breakfast for me, which would be at about 8 p.m up there I think. So as usual, I miss out on all the breaking news down here. Sigh..... :banghead
  8. I believe he had a player option for $8 mill for this season which he picked up. I then think the team has a $9 mill option on him for 2006, or they can buy him out for $3 mill.
  9. No I don't, although I do believe one of Konerko or Thomas will be back in 2006, it just depends on which one comes at the right price. We all know Frank thinks he's undervalued, although he may not think that after he probably has a sub par 2005.
  10. Gload had played 1 season in the majors and Podsednik 2, so it's not really fair to make a valid comparison. For all we know, if Glaod was given a regular spot in the lineup next season, he could flunk like Podsednik did in 2004, or Gload could hit .290 - .300 with 15 HR's. But if you go by minor league stats, then Glaod has the edge, he just didn't catch on with a team in his career yet.
  11. Realistically if the Sox want Hudson, the money is there for him to sign a long term extension. With the contracts of Thomas and Konerko alone off the books at the end of next season, that's about a $13 million saving, which should be easily be enough to resign Huddy to a 4 year deal. But no way do we trade Uribe, he could be Miggy Tejada like in a couple of years. Willie Harris, now he's expendable with the addition of Podsednik.

    Last Supper Beer

Double post. Probably a Heineken or a Leffe Bruges from Belgium.
  13. Bulls lose again. That's what happens when you hav about 25 turnovers and go to the free throw line only 12 times.
  14. He was the PTBNL in the Kolb deal.
  15. Uribe, B-Mac and 1 of Anderson or Sweeney is majorly overpaying for 1 year of Tim Hudson possibly. Willie Harris and B-Mac should beat LA's offer of Antonio Perez and Edwin Jackson straight up in my mind.
  16. Heh, I guess people just didn't care that much about Ken Griffey Jr. after all.
  17. I'm just trying to psyche you up so you go in with all guns blazing.
  18. You missed a big thread on it yesterday. Danny Wrong. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27147
  19. First of all welcome to SoxTalk. Ok Podsednik ain't going to be traded, he was the main reason we traded Lee in the 1st place, to get a leadoff hitter. Don't think the Dodgers would acquire Konerko either, especially after they've signed Kent and are most likely going to re-sign Beltre.
  20. Watching Steff and Alex yell profanities and verbally crucify KW on the stage.
  21. Garland and Konerko for Burnett. Well I guess it's not Javier Vazquez, but i'll still like to squeeze an extra prospect out of the deal at least. I think Burnett will rebound and have a huge season next year though.
  22. Well I thought something would go down soon, never thought it would go down this quickly though. Lemme just say for those ppl who think we can sign Odalis Perez for 3 years $17 mill, it ain't goin to happen. He's very close to signing with the New York Mets, and Washington offered him 3 years $20 million, and Jim Bowden for once wasn't very confident that he wouldn't sign him. That leaves Matt Clement (who will probably sign with Anaheim real soon), Eric Milton (yuck), and Paul Byrd (2 years coming back from arm surgery) as the main starters still on the FA market. Frankly with the addition of Vizcaino, I don't know what to think of the Hermanson signing now. We've got 5 guys who can rotate in the closer / setup role (Shingo, Hermanson, Marte, Vizcaino, Politte) even though Politte will be used in middle relief in the 6th and 7th innings so it's going to be hard to keep those guys happy. My feeling is we miss out on a starter, and Hermanson is moved to the 5th starter. Vizcaino should be a handy addition though. He's brutal against lefties and has an excellent fastball, they were just going to make him the closer after Danny Kolb left, so he was rated fairly highly by the Brewers' brass. I really doubt Ginter is the player to be named later, although he would also be a nice addition on the Southside as he crushes lefties, which is something Willie Harris certainly doesn't do. And Ginter also plays 3B, so you know if Joe Crede struggles, he could take over there for some games as well. Whether this deal is mainly going to be a success however is with Podsednik. There are many arguments for and against believing Podsednik will rebound and hit about .270 with a .330 - .340 OBP next season. FOR He's a damn hard worker Moving from Miller's Park (Pitching Park) to the Cell (Hitter's Park) Ozzie will be able to use small ball with him more, and teach him some stuff AGAINST Career record in the minors, is nothing flash at all. Doesn't exactly have a great OBP Overall I think Podsednik may struggle originally, getting adjusted to his new surroundings and trying to work out the kinks still. I think you may see him pick it up a little as the season goes on however, sort of a Aaron Rowand of 2004 like year, with less homers and less average. I'll miss Carlos though. In 2003 he was one of most consistent if not our most consistent hitter, and going into that season there were a lot of question marks about him whether he could develop into the player that his talent showed. He did nothing wrong in 2004 either, he just happened to be stuck on a team with a glut of power hitters without a division title to their name in a fairly weak division. He will struggle in the field in RF though, if that's where they play him, but I wish him nothing the best over in Milwaulkee.
  23. I suppose being stuck behind Craig Counsell, Junior Spivey and Wes Helms, didn't allow Ginter to play everyday, although it looked like he was used extensively as an utility man. He'd probably have the same role here, playing a bit of second base (as he hit .325 off lefties), and some third base for Joe Crede.
  24. I definitely remember reading in about May or June about how the Giants players' hated A.J and they really wanted Yorrit in the lineup instead. It'll be interesting to see what happens next with A.J though and which team takes a chance on him (Pittsburgh, Boston?).
