  3. That's $4 million towards the payroll.
  4. From Scot Gregor, interesting read;
  5. Without Lee in the lineup, and Gload playing in the outfield, this team has still put up runs consistently. I'm definitely open to trading Konerko or Carlos for some good pitching, in a J.D Drew type of package deal that the Cardinals got to fill extra needs. Furcal and Cruz has been talked about before, but I'd think we'd hav to take on some more salary.
  6. How many teams in the MLB would use assistants to the GM to look at nothing but stats though. You'd think most teams would. With the success of Beane in Oakland, I think more teams are starting to come around stats wise.
  7. I voted yes. To me Beane, Riccardi, and DePodesta are 3 of the better GM's in baseball right now. Of course Beane has been lucky with the big 3 Mulder, Hudson and Zito as well. Stats are very important when you look at the makeup of your team, but you should also look at how consistent those stats are for players over each month from year to year. And you can't let stats become your #1 focus and make all of your decisions based on that. Perfect example is D'Angelo Jimenez, sure he posted pretty good numbers for a 2B / SS while he was here, but he was a clubhouse cancer and lazy.
  8. He was hitting in the .400's midway thru the tournament but it probably went down late in the olympics, he got 1 hit robbed from him in the Gold Medal Game against Cuba.
  9. Jackass Jones had to spoil the mood. 4-3 Twinkies.
  10. He also hit over .400 I think, and pretty much played everyday in RF after the 1st game I believe.
  11. Betta late than never, although it's quite sad it's taken so long and it's taken the 5th starter to do it.
  12. I lead by 32 games at the end of the season, and then don't pay attention the 1 week I really should.

    How bout you all come down here then if ya can't decide.
  14. FWIW on Garland, his stats this season are quite interesting. 12-13 with a 4.51 ERA. Has a WHIP of 1.37 and W/9 of 3.47 which are his lowest since his pitched for us. In 2001 when he started 16 games for us, he had a lower ERA but a higher WHIP and W/9, and a lower K/9.

    We'd have to give up Jon Garland, Joe Crede and a reliever or prospect AT LEAST.

    My bad, I meant he didn't hav a no trade clause, and I typed he did for some stupid reason. :banghead
  17. As soon as I saw the bunt, I thought Ozzie's gonna luv this kid.
  18. Nice article there Evan, you've done an excellent job all season with the Great Falls write - ups.
  19. I'd truly love to go one day, if that's at all possible. I know Steff and Alex will be asking the tough questions to KW again though.
  20. I'm hoping Jose can sign with some team as a super utility guy like the Yankees and win a world series.

    He has a no trade clause, but he said he won't remain with the team, if they don't guarantee that they will trade him. Don't know if there's a trade kicker or anythin as well.
  22. It's only people who are younger than him so he can pick on them.
  23. An old article I found had some more positives on Hernandez;
