It's possible nothing can be done at this point, but I'm convinced Burger's issues recognizing spin (and his poor plate discipline generally) are largely due to years of lost development time. He was a low strikeout rate guy in college & in the minors prior to all of his injuries.

I think about this at some point during every game. Watching him glide around in CF is incredible. I don't think his defense is appreciated nearly enough. He is a generationally good defensive player.

He spent the last ~year trying to regain velo. I'll be interested to see if that translates into games but early returns are (unsurprisingly) no

1 good week away from being in 1st place or having the 3rd worst record in baseball. I can't imagine that's happened too many other times in MLB history

Burger's OBP is down to .271. He is going to need to make an adjustment ASAP.

What Robert's doing this season shouldn't be taken for granted because everything around him is such a disaster

Using the White Sox average is quite generous when the league average for OBP is .320. Only 1 regular in the lineup could have a bad week and remain above average. You'll never be a good offensive team when that's the case.

With a good week or 2, he might finally surpass Nick Madrigal in career wRC+
