I wasn't a big fan, but he seemed like a decent guy.

Kind of a fun article for Swisher declaring his retirement. I wish he would have been a little better, here, but he was fun when things were good. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/nick-swis...m-is-over-baby/

Honestly, that call was consistent with the garbage fouls in the modern NBA.

#bannergate I voted for the kids, but I figure go Moncada, Anderson, and Jose Abreu Or you can just go legends like Thomas, Fox, Minoso

Bob from Niles called into Bernstein & Goff yesterday (hour 4).

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 10:46 AM) Yeah, it did debut at #1 though in US/Canada/UK, it pushed quite a few records. Right, but The Suburbs certainly deserved it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 12, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) Nice! You like the tech inside? My Q7 and your A4 are the first to get the overhaul. So far, pretty happy with it. The tech is great, but honestly I mostly just use CarPlay. The ride is just pure joy, even in the comfort setting. Didn't go with a lot of options, and the only thing I really miss are the really cool LED DRLs, but overall I'm really happy. I'm conditioned to worry about Audi reliability, and yet all the major reliability metrics have Audi near the top of brand performance.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) Grammys are the worst. They have a long track record of giving awards to bad music. Milli Vanilli won a damn award. Beyonce went and made an amazing album this year, though. So much great artistry on "Lemonade"

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate

QUOTE (Soha @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) I want to dump players as much as anyone, to secure going on the 'Beer Run'. That said, I'm not so sure trading Robertson really makes this team worse. He is probably the only guy I'd prefer they hold on to until the deadline. See if he can rebuild his value back up. We have no use for him, though... -
I hate owner/JR threads. RIP to what most seem to think was a great man.

Caught the Stars for the first time this season. They are the definition of fun-bad. That offense and pace is nuts, but the defense and goaltending is just pathetic.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 08:54 PM) Is that an A4 or A6? I still really like the Q3, but lately I've been drooling over getting a 2 door sporty convertible. 100% stupid for Chicago but dammit I want one 2017 A4 2.0T quattro. There is an A5 sport Cabriolet, but yeah, in Chicago that's a little silly. The Quattro is excellent and the handling is nuts. This one makes 255 hp and it's on the Torsen quattro setup.

Funzies. Picked up one of these last week.

63 - 99 A number of meathead fans here will doubt the process of rebuilding, but it's still the right thing to do.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:03 AM) "He would have never won any Super Bowls without Brady" You could say that with just about every coach. Wouldn't have won without their hall of fame QB. 51 Super Bowl winners. 41 have been won with hall of fame quarterbacks or will be hall of fame quarterbacks. 42 if you consider Joe Flacco a hall of famer. The others had historically good defenses. Bears, Bucs, Giants, Raiders, Redskins. Joe Flacco shouldn't be allowed near the hall of fame.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 09:46 AM) But are extra innings really the problem (particularly with non-baseball fans)? In a given season, about 10% of the games go into extra innings. Of those, the vast majority only need an extra inning or two to complete. I would argue that the non-baseball fan is going to think that baseball is long whether it goes 9 innings or 11. A handful of games each year turn into marathons of 14-18 innings. But that’s so few as to be statistically insignificant, really. To me, this move from the MLB is a solution in search of a problem. Extra innings aren’t the problem. Pace of play is a problem. I think you hit the nail on the head in the major leagues. Extra inning games are not a problem. Let it be in the minors. It's fine.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 06:52 PM) Do what you want in the minors, but for the major leagues? No. I'd be more for ties after 12 innings than starting a guy on 2nd base. That's how I feel, too. In fact, I would go as far as saying do this everywhere except the majors. There's no need to have MLB prospects playing extra innings.

Martin Havlat retires. Tallon gets a lot of credit for moving away from him, because he was never as valuable again as he was in 2009.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 02:39 AM) CTE, Dementia, along with depression and other things. But the main issue seems to be dementia. Showed that he has to walk around with a fanny pack that contains his ID, wallet, keys, and phone in case he gets lost and forgets what he's doing.`It was a pretty sad interview. Is there a test for CTE that can be run on living subjects?

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Feb 4, 2017 -> 09:28 PM) Man, the Stars' defense and goaltending are horrendous. It's always hilarious how much credit Jim Nill gets for being average at his job. He gets a ton of credit for the Seguin trade, but his inability to draft or add defense is wasting years of two solid players in Benn and Seguin.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 08:46 PM) Its not just the clubs that think this way. Its also many of the fans. Just look at the posts on this one. If the team doesn't have a chance to win the world series they should tank the season for better draft picks. I wouldn't go as far as saying "tanking is necessary". I would go as far as saying good drafting and system building are more critical now than ever before, and teams are less and less likely to let their home grown assets leave. As a result, the quality of free agents is bad, teams overpay bad free agents, and they lose. I mean this isn't as bad as the NBA, where if you don't have a generational talent, you're not winning championships, but being bad at least prevents management from trading away young talent for a short fix.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 03:24 PM) Seems like the kind of segment that would work better only responding to emails so you can filter through some of the terrible ones. I assume they would call screen it, but maybe not? QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 03:25 PM) Is "Who ya crappin?" still a segment? I always used to catch it on my drive home when I used to commute in my car from work but I haven't listened to the Score at around the time they would do that segment since like early May of last year. A week before Terry retired, B&B explained that Who ya crappin was ending because the world had kind of moved passed it.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 09:18 PM) When the going gets tough, schedule the Coyotes to make it all better. And then commit a ton of delay of game penalties to let them back in. This game should not be close.

FG projects Sox as having 3rd biggest fall off in defense

Gotta get bad to get good.
