  1. I don't mind the little I have heard from Parkins, but that low rent "can't do it" stuff isn't any good. B&B used to do "Ask us Anything" about once a year, but questions were like "What cars do you guys drive?"
  2. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jan 31, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) I have always felt like this was going to be at least a three year process to begin to become competitive again. Even if Moncada busts out next season, there is not going to be the supporting cast around him to help him out. I also think that Rodon is going to be traded as part of the rebuild process, possibly as early as next winter. There is little to no chance of an extension with him as a Boras client and with the way that I believe the window of contention is going to shape up, he will enter free agency right when the Sox are in the prime of the window of contention with the group they are assembling. I know people feel this team is going to be right in the thick of things as early as next year with the pitching core they are assembling, but the offense is going to be dreadful, probably worse than dreadful. This team is going to lose at least two of its three most productive offensive players after this season, and will be in firm contention for the #1 overall pick in 2019. I think 2020 is where this team starts being competitive again as Collins, Moncada, Basabe, and hopefully some of the acquisitions from the trades of Rodon and Q are ready to contribute in addition to top draft picks from 2017 and 2018. With hopefully an abundance of SP depth, Hahn can make some deals to fill in the holes in the roster that they aren't able to fill through the draft or in one of the rotation deals. You make an interesting point about Rodon, but the Sox have the luxury of "wait and see" when it comes to his development.
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 02:55 PM) Thanks for that, clears up my curiosity. Seems to fall in line with the mentality of the artists who started Tidal. From what I recall reading a while back, artists like Madonna, Jack White, Metallica etc started tidal because their music was streamed for free on Spotify so the artists want to eliminate that would be middle man in Spotify. I do remember some complaints about the music quality and iirc, is why Tidal has Flac files available for streaming. Eh, I like my way much better than streaming services. I get my music, add it to my collection and play anything I want add free and commercial free. Nothing but the music. As far as I can tell, FLAC is CD quality. Jay-Z and Beyonce are majority owners with minority owners including Jack White, Madonna, Win Butler and his wife (Arcade Fire), and others. Jay-Z bought the company for $60 million and it looked like it was doomed to fail, but now Sprint has bought a third of it for $200 million. I like it and the exclusives are great, but the curation isn't great.
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 29, 2017 -> 02:43 PM) Kudos the White Sox. I have a 17 year-old nephew battling lymphoma at Lurie's Childrens Hospital and he got a visit the other day from Renteria, Moncada and Giolito. The kid's a Cubs fan but the visit meant the world to him and genuinely lifted his spirits at a time when he can't keep any food down and is battling the effects of chemo. I've seen these pics on twitter and never given them much thought, even dismissed them as publicity stunts. I now know they're much more than that. Already love these new guys! This made my day. Cheers
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) Agreed, Rizzo is a bad example because he is still young and signed long term Frazier should be dealt at some point before the trade deadline, as should Melky Abreu likely will stick around unless we get a really nice package for him We want to have maximum payroll flexibility moving forward during the rebuild so that we are ready to make a splash once we are ready to contend again in a few seasons The Abreu/Moncada friendship is no small thing, either. Anything is possible, but you want Moncada to be comfortable when he's with the big league club. The right deal is the right deal, but I would move Frazier first.
  6. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 08:47 AM) So if I buy the mlb package I wont get sox games? Being that im in nrw york? I'm sure us out of market people are unaffected by this.
  7. QUOTE (GermanSock @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 09:06 AM) Well I hope he starts to get a couple more shortstop prospects and then later figure out who plays short, second and third. Agreed. There are no permanent fixtures on this team. I like TA, but I'm not going to buy a jersey of anyone on the team as currently constructed because anything is possible.
  8. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 08:29 AM) How many players on the White Sox are in Law's top 100? Does Callis have a top 100? Anyone concerned that the White Sox still don't have many positional players who are top prospects? I guess 2 in the top 100 isn't horrible, but are there others in the pipeline? Yes and no. Once you start a rebuild, you can draft and develop positional talent. Having too many pitcher is fine, because you can move them for what they're missing. At this point in an early rebuild, Hahn's job is to maximize value in the form of talent, regardless of what it is. When we were going for it every year, I was one of the people who said "The Sox can't draft and develop positional talent", but now they are going to have a number of better opportunities to do so and they have done quite a bit to revamp their organization (highlighted by a solid draft).
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 07:45 AM) If Anderson can continue to play that type of defense, it's worth 2-2.5 war alone. On the list of Sox problems, he's not in the Top Ten. If he prevents the White Sox from acquiring shortstops, he becomes a bigger and bigger problem. I'm not saying he'll be good or bad, but Hahn cannot settle for Tim Anderson as the shortstop of the future based on the data he has now.
  10. Spider-man Homecoming had better be good. Tom Holland in Civil War was the best part of the film.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 07:22 AM) Technically yes they still could with Avi at DH haha Many here have said this will be Avi's breakout season.
  12. I'm not sure there is a better hip hop song ever than "Runaway" by Kanye West. That whole album (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) is incredible. I did like Solange's work, but when you listen to Beyonce's new stuff, it delivers entirely on the concept she sets forth. Betrayal and redemption find their way into Lemonade across the board.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 04:55 PM) Trade Frazier at the deadline, then bring him back for 2 years and $20 million. That's a solid rebuild move
  14. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) is there a link to watch livestream of Comcast coverage of Sox Fest Opening Ceremonies? It's streaming live on the White Sox facebook page. You can see all the Soxtalkers. They're the ones saying "Can't wait to trade X" as they're intro'd
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) Todd you are pretty awesome. You will be traded within the blink of an eye for anything that's close to a 50/50 gamble. Pretty much. It looks like people are seeing through his power numbers.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Interesting...some spin on the radio further distancing Paxson from Gar. Basically stating that Pax, at the direction of JR, etc, had stepped back to let Gar do his thing, hire Fred, etc. I wonder if the next time we hear from Paxson is when he is announcing that the Bulls have a new GM. I always enjoy when Pax speaks...he's always very honest and transparent. The bold is almost certainly the case. Pax isn't going anywhere. It will be up to him to fire Gar.
  17. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 02:43 PM) REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH I'm full meathead on this crap, too. I am wearing my White Sox jersey at work waiting for something to happen (we get casual friday. I almost always where a Chicago jersey)
  18. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) I don't see Carson Fulmer in the top 100 anywhere. The Sox may have royally screwed him up by rushing him to the Show last year. Top 100 doesn't matter unless we never see Fulmer again.
  19. In the last couple of days, we have seen a number of White Sox media hits in the offseason. Let's keep them in a centrally located place. Rick Hahn on WMVP today (1/27) at 3:00, 670 the Score at 3:40
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 08:57 PM) Works for me. Agreed, but I think we're dealing with both for 35 more games. After the last one, I would expect Paxson would fire Gar if JR doesn't fire everybody. If I had to guess, Pax survives this.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 08:50 PM) https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/824784358385078272 Looks like Moncada is good ole number 10. Until he makes it in the major league debut, we can't really know for sure. Beckham wore like 58 before he settled on 15
  22. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 08:39 PM) This is why loading up on arms is something they should never stop doing. Arms or shortstops. Preferably both. They're the currency of baseball. Shortstops can play many positions and pitchers are critical (obviously)
  23. Hoiberg isn't going anywhere unless Gar goes with him.
  24. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 05:22 PM) I think there is another possibility in the way the rebuild has gone. I do think it is interesting that the two "problem childs" were traded but not one other trade was made. But competing next year is not realistic. So maybe the front office felt they should do the rebuild over two seasons so that the roster was not a disaster going into sales of 2017 tickets. Then the team can still promote ticket sales for 2017 with guys like Abreu, Anderson and Q. Then do another sell-off in July with the hope that 1 or 2 of the young players already acquired will be ML ready. Then finish the sell off next winter and promote 2018 with Anderson and the young stars that have emerged. This is a little too pie in the sky. Some of these guys are going to miss.
