White Sox Rebuild Thread
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) Drew Poemeranz and Andrew Cashner did. Jose Abreu can bring back 1 if not 2 top 100 guys. Not after last season. Plus, he's essentially a DH to a lot of teams.

White Sox listening on Frazier
Frazier just isn't very good. His power numbers are great, but his performance relative to his power numbers is poor.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) That is fascinating. I had no idea that both candidates had that kind of drop off. I am totally stealing these numbers. Lower voter turnout is always terrible for Democrats

Really classy speech from Obama. The former presidents all seem so classy.

A couple of lone bright spots for me include Kamala Harris and Tammy Duckworth. The Senate is finally becoming more diverse.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 09:15 AM) Paul Ryan could be the most powerful man in America, highly doubt he is going anywhere. He shattered all kinds of campaign funds records. I'm inclined to agree with you.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
This whole debacle is requiring be to put a whole lot more faith in Paul Ryan. I don't often agree with him, but he has his head on straight and could potentially take the edge off Trump. Problem is, some outlets are calling for Ryan to step down, which would be a problem.

Fangraphs Article
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) Why the hell wouldn't you move Eaton too? Might as well. The article is more focused on the other pieces.

The domino that could catapult the white sox into a fire sale
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 06:02 PM) we get more coverage in NYC than in Chicago. Because we're bad and we have pieces the Yankees and Mets could be interested in...and yet can't afford. Finally stories about baseball that aren't cubs-centric. The White Sox hold the offseason cards.

Fangraphs Article
Can you imagine the type of haul we would getting moving everyone but Eaton? Regardless of how good we were in that situation, at least the story would be different.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 08:09 AM) Nate Silver is taking heat from people from not including early voting totals in his forecasting model but the thing is, based on the way he does his math, I don't think he knows how. He'd be measuring two different things. Early voting isn't polls, it's people who've already voted, so he'd be trying to combine a measured guess against. He's built his brand off the public polling system from 2008, but it's changed since then. It's hard to blame Silver for running his system the way he does. He's left a lot of room for error for himself if Trump becomes President. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) I was thinking about voting early on Saturday. They had it at a library near me. My wife voted early last week. The line on Saturday was at least a block long. I was amazed. So I passed. It usually isn't very long when I go in the regular place. I just wanted to be done with it. I voted two weeks ago, but I'm really interested to see how crazy the lines get in swing states. It would be a real shame if people like you never get to exercise their civic duties. Election Day needs to be a national holiday on the order of Christmas. Everyone needs to be afforded the right to vote without worrying about lines getting into their hectic lives. The GOP would never go for it, seeing as there are a lot more Dems than Republicans nationally.

Article discussion: Retool or rebuild
QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 01:29 AM) My signature says clearly which camp I'm in ? Good article idea. ?? At this point it's the only sensible thing to do. There are too many teams doing it well now.

Potential + Effects of the World Series?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 04:23 AM) Where's Dr. Strange to contain you in a mirror room? The other cinematic universe. Back on topic. If both the Cubs and the White Sox are good, there is plenty of room and sufficient people on both sides of town to fill either. The Sox aren't moving but they need to get a lot better. If anything, this championship drums up interest in baseball, which the White Sox can capitalize on.

2016 MLB catch all thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) Under Armor is going to be the new MLB uniform maker in 2020 replacing Majestic. They will also replace Nike with the under the uniform stuff. That's fairly hard to imagine. What the hell us does Majestic do?

Rick Hahn open for business
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) Ah, so you can tell me my theory is wrong. Got it now. I am not saying a rebuild can't work. I am just saying that the historic odds aren't nearly as high as they are being portrayed here. We could just as easily see it blow up in our faces, just like we have seen in Minnesota with their rebuild. They are starting over again. Completely different scouting environment now that statistics, computers, and analysis rule the league. You know what doesn't work? What we're doing right now. We might make the playoffs once in the next decade.
