QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 8, 2016 -> 11:04 PM) Zimmerman wet the bed and the cubs look like geniuses Dude. They're 24-6. That's .800 ball. They look like geniuses all the time.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 8, 2016 -> 07:52 PM) Bryce Harper had zero ABs in his last 11 plate appearances. 3 IBB, 7 BB, 1 HBP Whatever it takes to win, right? Nats fans on Twitter are crying foul, but the Cubs embarrassed them this weekend.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2016 -> 12:00 PM) Cowley up to his old tricks again. Says Butler is upset at the smear campaign being thrown his way. Cowley, who reported the Noah/Butler would have come to blows on his own, now seems to claim Gar is behind this smearing. Typical Cowley garbage. While there is often some truth to his stuff, he always seems to draw two or three wrong conclusions based on his findings.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 7, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) Kane a Hart and Ted Lindsay finalist. The Hart is his to lose when you look at how bad the rest of the Blackhawks were for long stretches of the season. I would still say he and Crawford are jointly the MVPs of the team.

2016 Cubs catch-all thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2016 -> 05:08 AM) Seemingly the biggest problem for the Cubs this year is going to be keeping up their competitive "edge" in the last 6-8 weeks of the season...if they win the division by TOO MUCH, and start resting some of their regulars along with Lester/Arrieta, there's going to be the danger they're vulnerable to a team that survived the tempest of the playoff race and probably a win or go home wild card match-up. Not easy just to "turn it back on" after not being in competitive mode for so long...the Cubs learned that last playoff season with the long layoff before NLCS. Definitely a possibility. Also to play without having to withstand too many injuries. Still a really good problem to have if you're the Cubs.

QUOTE (Tmar @ May 7, 2016 -> 06:45 PM) Odd how no chalk kicked up, maybe the cubs make their foul lines out of thermoplastic striping? That ball was foul. That's not the rule. The ball hit Harper before hitting the ground. The question wasn't "where did the ball hit the ground?", it was "did the ball hit Harper in fair territory?". The umpire thought the ball hit Harper's arm in fair territory, called it fair, and there was insufficient evidence to overturn the call.

QUOTE (soxfan85 @ May 7, 2016 -> 06:27 PM) For sure. Automatic postseason for these guys. They might as well not even play the regular season to be honest. I wouldn't go that far, and it's still baseball, so anything can happen and the risk of playing your guys is generally less than something like hockey. I just can't believe they keep winning the way they do.

This is what "fast forward to the postseason" looks like. This team looks like it's going to run and hide.

Surging White Sox have earned Ventura new contract
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2016 -> 02:45 PM) What I find interesting is 30 games into the season you think the White Sox haven't needed a "real" manager. What point of the season does that need kick in? And if Ventura had been replaced last year and a new guy was at the helm now, would you still not be giving the new guy any credit and not using the performance thus far against Robin? I think you would considering you used sitting out this season as proof Thins was a very flawed NBA coach. Nobody wanted him. The point where they go through a slide. It's not that hard. Robin has proven he can't deal with real, on the field adversity. Period. Thank god portions of this team have over performed. And with regards to Thibs, the whole Bulls org hated him because he was a nutcase. Looking forward to watching his big guns play 46 minutes against the 76ers in Minnesota.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 7, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) The Twins destroy Sale. I have a bad feeling about this game But even then, it kind of doesn't matter, right? It's game 30 and this team looks a special kind of bad this year.

Surging White Sox have earned Ventura new contract
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 7, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) Cmon dude, thicken the skin a little bit. AustinIllini is trolling with the "Imagine how good the Sox would be with a REAL manager" comment. That comment is so not based in fact it's comical, thereby deserving of any comment anybody says. The way I defend Hawk is similar; all heart & gut but no real fact. My opinion is that Robin has the boys playing at their top level right now, his bullpen use has been fabulous, his rotation shuffling has been really smart, and the players seem to be responding well. Looks damn good so far. Not anfan of Maddon and his arrogance- Robin is a man's man. I don't agree with you, so I'm trolling . Whatever dude. I don't hate the Cubs, so I'm trolling. I correctly predicted the Hawks would struggle without four defensemen, so I'm trolling. This board can be a greatest hits of whiners sometimes. But seriously, let's re-sign a manger after 30 games. That's what the good teams do, right?

Is Avi Putting It Together?
I don't necessarily believe in Avi (although his OPS+ is shockingly high), but his absence on the field is another reminder of what a great subtraction Adam LaRoche was.

Surging White Sox have earned Ventura new contract
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2016 -> 10:20 AM) Probably undefeated. Sarcasm aside, this team will likely struggle and the pitching will likely regress to some extent, and at that point we will be wanting a real manager.

ESPN Defensive Player of the Month
Eaton making his contract look like a steal. Rick Hahn looks like a genius when his players perform.

I know baseball doesn't work this way, but I wouldn't even have Sale pitch against Minny. It's sad we have to use a Sale start against that sorry band of losers.

Imagine this team with a real manager. I'm sorry, it's still not Robin (loved him as a player, btw). He has improved, but he's still mediocre.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 6, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) The positive thing is, pretty much their whole team is due for a ton of regression. The entire pitching staff specifically. They can be .500 the rest of the season and win 89 games. That won't happen. They'll win over 100. And yeah, this is a long term deal. The Cubs aren't the Sox. The Cubs TV network will literally print money and they'll re-sign everybody. Think Blackhawks with no Salary Cap.

PENN STATE SCANDAL
This type of stuff just makes me hate college football. The crimes of Sandusky and the criminal negligence of the men around him is atrocious. Second to that, what disturbs me is the fact that this could happen anywhere in college football culture. The blind hero worship of the rampant college football fanbases across the country are the perfect opportunity for these kinds of things to happen.

2015-16 NHL thread
St. Louis continues to play a brutal brand of hockey. The Blackhawks (and now the Stars) had some success "out-skilling" the Blues, but in both series so many infractions are committed and not called. I hate the Blues.

QUOTE (soxfan85 @ May 5, 2016 -> 09:50 PM) Barring an injury to a key pitcher or something, it is hard not seeing them getting to the WS and then possibly winning it. It seems like EVERYTHING is just kind of going their way. Over a 162 game season, you would think they would have some "downs," but who knows? Hell, it even seems like every "challenge" goes their way, it really does. Pretty amazing, really. And as I write this, old man Zobrist with a two run HR to Center. See what I mean? Crazy for a team with such a young core, too. Ownership has to get Epstein re-signed.

QUOTE (lord chas @ May 5, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) I hear rumbles his producer Matt Abbatacola has gotten himself into some trouble. Caught sleeping around with a former Blackhawks ice girl and wrecking two marriages. Sad! Not sure that qualifies as "getting yourself in trouble".
