  1. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) I'm actually more pissed off they were unwilling to trade Shark than acquiring anything. This team is NOT going to the playoffs, but we're also not going next year unless drastic improvements are made across the roster. I have a feeling we'll remember this season more for the useless 7-1 run at the trade deadline and it's impact on our future more than anything else. I'm somewhere between this and indifferent. This team isn't winning anything, but the only thing they had of value is Shark.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:33 AM) I don't think there's a "normal" age. It completely varies depending on the person This all day. If someone judges you for not being a fan until your 20s, they can shove it. Fans are fans, and the White Sox could use a lot more of them, honestly.
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) Yes, but it's also very hard to give up on a team that was built to contend and has won 17 of 26 games. You can move Shark and still potentially contend. It would be harder, but the White Sox odds are not all that fantastic as is. There's nothing else to sell, though, so you can "sell" without throwing in the white flag.
  4. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) With so many teams needing pitchers somebody hopefully should make a decent offer. Heck the jays are still trying for more starting pitching. Yankees need it horribly after sending nova to dl Agreed. I would much prefer infield prospects over the end of year draft compensation. Williams/Hahn are horrible at drafting position players and the lack of out of town stupid in baseball now is making it really hard for us to pawn off our garbage for real players.
  5. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:52 PM) Place your bets on if the FO buys or sells because time is running out. There's only one piece to sell. That Samardzija. You might as well listen to offers. If something blows them out of the water, do it, otherwise, this team has nothing really to sell.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) Nice post. I approve. Root for Johnny Danks, people! He's an easy guy to root for. Who gives a flip about his contract? Not me. You shouldn't either. Price of beer ain't going down even if we lose Danks' salary. I mean, it's possible, but certainly not likely.
  7. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Cespedes is 3-5 with a HR tonight I'll take him, but I doubt the Tiggers move him in the division. That being said, his contract makes it imperative they move him now.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:16 PM) He knows I love Danks. He was issuing a little barb at me. No biggie. I am a Danks lover. I work out with people who went to high school with him. He pops up as a recommended friend on Facebook. He's on the walls of multiple restaurants in town. I want him to be good, but I'm really concerned he's not.
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:16 PM) So far it's been a long wait. This. Johnny is done.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 07:16 PM) I love how as it hit him and in the seconds after, he kept a completely straight face. We'll see if he's okay based on how he pitches.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 3m3 minutes ago Alexei Ramirez is now 15th among 26 qualified shortstops in Defensive Runs Saved with minus-1. Was near bottom a month ago. #WhiteSox Good for him, but it's time for him to go after this season.
  12. The fans cannot count on a quality product on the field. Any year, it seems the Sox will be fighting to stay out of the basement. Winning in consecutive seasons will build the fanbase.
  13. Now it's for keeps
  14. To sum up thread: Sale is paid to do his job, it sucks he doesn't get help, but wins for a pitcher don't really matter. The White Sox cannot possibly win a trade with Sale in it, so he's untradeable.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) The problem is any GM who gives up that much young talent and then Sale pitches for only a year or two before going down with an elbow or shoulder injury is risking his career...ending up like the Vikings' GM who gave up the future by dealing for Herschel Walker. Chris Sale's contract is such that the risk of shoulder injury is mostly negated by how team friendly the contract is.
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) Well, I'm sorry, but they are going to have to give a "real deal" to get Chris Sale. Maybe 3-4 real deals. I could see two "real deals", but I doubt the White Sox ever get the package they want .
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Bryant, Soler, Schwarber, Castro, and Almora at a minimum. Rizzo and Russel for Sale.
  18. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) Schwarber / Russell / McKinney/ a couple pitchers That would probably do it for me. Problem is, if I'm the Cubs, the bold is a deal breaker. Russell is the read deal and Baez looks like a flop.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) The one guy they aren't going to give up. You know which name that is. That's a great trade for both teams, but from a marketing perspective, the Cubs can't pull it off. But I agree with you. That's why you don't move a staff Ace. Anything less than Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, or Schwarber and Russel is too little.
  20. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) Hahn should look into trading him this offseason. I don't think he should trade Sale, but he should see what kind of offers he gets. After 2016, if the Sox are still staffed by corpses with hats, then yeah, trade him. What can you possibly get? If the Cubs came calling for Sale, what would you want in return? They have a ton of talent.
  21. Chris Sale signed his contract. The end. He's not really moveable because 1) teams overvalue their prospects 2) Sox would ask for an enormous amount of young talent in return for the 3rd pitcher in a century to have 12 Ks in 5 straight games.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) I think we should try to fire both. All the players, GM, and coaching staff. I was on the fence about Hahn earlier on, but if the only way the rest of everybody gets fired is to include Hahn, so be it. bring in a baseball consultant and hire a new GM. The whole department of baseball operations is garbage.
  23. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) One thing that I've noticed...what we think is fair and what we've been getting from certain trades is not the same. We normally get much less than expected. Part of the reason why I'm extremely resistant to trading Sale. This is exactly why Sale will be here for the remainder of his contract.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) The asking price remains "a player the team will not give up." That's kind of what I figured. Teams overvalue their prospects and we have a staff Ace. yikes.
