Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap
Mr. Showtime replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) 90 minutes until OC is potentially the biggest heel in Sox history. Wrasslin analogy!!! -
Say, has anyone else heard that they are coming out with a re-make of Punch Out for the Wii? Looks to have most of the same characters, LITTLE MAC~!~!, Glass "f***ing" Joe, and Mr. Hippo, all in the game. I'm looking forward to this.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 11:51 AM) f*** no...its a holiday for us. I plan on taking my staff out to lunch at 11:30 for some food and drinks and we'll head in around 1 and call it a day. You have a staff? Did you get a promotion and didn't tell me?

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) With Nyles playing tonight for the Caps, I think Buff being hungover is probably more accurate. The Bolland comments are the ones that are curious.... A few folks were saying the Caps may not have had enough skaters tonight without him in, I don't know how correct that is or not. Suppose we'll see in the next 24 hours. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) Or he was terribly hungover? That 'Yeah he was an unhealthy scratch thing' was awkward. It was wasn't it? Just the way it was said cracked me up. He grinned nice and large on that. -

They asked Q about Buff in the post game, and the answer he said he wasn't able to go and laughed. Then said he was day to day lets just say. So either he's being dealt, or Buff likes to enjoy the night life and wasn't in the proper state in perform. -

I don't think Cap wise they can trade Buff for Nylander. Buff makes 3 Nylander is at 4.5 or so, and the Hawks are only a few hundred thousand under the cap. So someone else wold have to go back to WSH or to Rockford. Who knows though, always ways to work the numbers. -
Fitch is back according to Meltzer.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) Are you going to go to the game, or are you re-selling to pay off some of the season ticket costs? Personally, I'm not planning on going. My girlfriend wants to go to the game badly, she's planning on going with her sister. However, I'm going to keep an eye on the 'market', and if it makes sense to sell it, I'll just do that. -

So, I finally got my chance to buy the Winter Classic seats today. All of the seats in the $200 and $300 we're sold out outside of the limited view seats. So I ended up with 2 seats in the $75 level. If my seats we're for a Cubs game they'd be great, hockey not so much! -

QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) I'm right with you. The stick-raising after almost every victory is on my nerves. It's not special if you do it all the time. I don't need to be pandered to, just give me a competitive, consistent hockey team and that's good enough for me. Save the overblown celebrations for the day you finally win the most beautiful trophy in all of sports. I always stick around long enough to watch the stick-raising. I'm a fan of it, I view it as the players way of thanking the fans for the support. I can do without a few of things I've seen promotional wise this season and the cubification as some have said, but, I disagree on this one. -

QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) Oh, I know he doesn't want to be a heel, he never has. But in this case, I think it adds something to the angle. I thought he was a hindrance to the nWo stuff. The angle would have been better served for him to be the one guy who never joined, I think. Oh yeah, Sting is a guy who people don't want to boo. -

QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 10:02 AM) I like Sting's approach to the angle. He's aligned with heels, and dressing/acting heelish, but he's coming from a standpoint where you can kind of relate to him so he doesn't seem like a full-blown heel. I think it greases the skids for an eventual face flip, like when Joe or AJ finally apologize to him and he can say "that's all I was looking for" and turn on the MEM. Sting doesn't even wanna be a heel! That's why he does crap like slapping hands with fans on the way to the ring. It's hilarious, Meltzer was talking about how they write him heel promo's and then he goes out there and cuts the promo and omits any of the heelish language. To the point you made, I can see that being the way to get him out of the group for sure. -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) The 1st mistake was trying to read into what Williams has said so far this off-season. I don't believe anything he says really. I just look at what they've done in the past.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) If we're moving Ramirez to SS, then Hardy isn't an option. Putting him at 3rd base significantly lowers his value, and after watching a ton of Brewers games in the last 2 years, we'd be annoyed with him. He's incredibly streaky, as the last two years he was basically worthless for a half of the season. He has no speed at all either. So, we're going to go with more 'speed', but bad defense? Sounds like a plan!

QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 11:35 AM) I have to admit it.....I HATE to admit it...... ....the Main Event Mafia angle is drawing me in a little bit. I know it's a rehash of the Millionaire's Club vs New Blood angle, I know 3 of the 5 MEM guys can't wrestle worth a good god damn anymore (I'm including Sting in the can't-work section because his matches are all so repetitive and slow these days, only Booker and Angle keep my interest in the ring), but I gotta admit, I'm enjoying the early stages of it. Scott Steiner was a logical choice to join, only because he has to do something and he sure as hell can't side with the youngsters. It was fun to see him attack his Mini-Me during his run-in. I don't know how much shelf life this angle has, but I'm interested to see where it goes next week, and there's not much in TNA I can say that about. The deal with Cage having to join if he loses to Booker at the next PPV could be good, Jarrett not committing to either side lends itself to some possible storylines, Foley could pull a swerve, though I highly doubt it. If Mick did flip, I bet he's got a couple dozen wonderful heel promos lined up and ready to go. I agree, I've liked the past few shows. I've always enjoyed faction wars in wrestling. Well, except for some of that 90's WWF stuff. Remember the Union??? Oh my god! As for TNA, I would like it if they just had some more wrasslin on the shows! -

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 04:29 PM) I think the PPV's have been pretty good, better than anything WWE/TNA have put out actually. It's just hard to do PPV tapings, especially when they're taped a month or 2 in advance. I don't mean the quality or even what they put on the shows. The idea behind them wasn't really to get ppv buys, the idea was folks would see it and then go buy the DVD's. When you have so few people buying the ppv's, and those who do are the hardcore fans, they aren't gaining a new audience. That's the problem, they are at a level, and need something to happen to elevate them. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) They have been doing PPVs. They need TV to bring in revenue if they wanna grow. The ppv's are pretty worthless. Gabe was someone who really wasn't behind tv because he saw how tv killed ECW. Which in reality it didn't, just most wrestlers saw it as the holy grail and when it failed they we're done. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) Any word on why Gabe left? Adam Pearce is from Waukegan. Weird to see him around like he is. He was fired. Talk has been stale booking, lower crowds, not seeing more growth in the company.
