QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) Why do we keep making new threads by this title, when we can keep recycling the old ones. It would seem to save space.. Each loss deserves its own space to berate the team and otherwise pray for someone to pull the switch and begin trading players. It's past the point of embarrassment. The last week I've accepted defeat. It's just a shame Dye is struggling and potentially injured; completely screwing his current value and perhaps the future of the team in the process. If he were atleast able to stand it's possible we'd receive a B-level prospect. Now even that is unlikely.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) 11 straight series losses? And yet, the only one to lose his job is our scouting director? Don't worry, there are plenty of divisional games left. Who cares if the Sox have struggled during the supposed easy portion of their schedule? Plenty of time to come back, especially if Jacque Jones is traded for.

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) It amazes me how bad they are. Pedro Alvarez, the likely #1 draft selection of 2008, is actually within sights. I never would have thought that before the season began. Although they'll probably begin winning meaningless games late in September to push themselves out of the gutter.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:19 PM) Isn't it amazing what you can do when you have a good bench? Let me guess...93 mph so far? Yes, a delicious 93-94 mph fastball with no movement. This should about do it for this current collection of White Sox members. I'd love to hear of a trade following today, but I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

If Williams were smart he'd deal Jenks before the beginning of 2008.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) Mark Buehrle to the Dodgers for Kershaw, Hu and Broxton. This isn't very hard. If Williams doesn't acquire this exact package I'll never let you forget it. It's all on you, Heads.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) I think there's a great chance it happens. I could see us trading someone like Haeger for him. What purpose does it serve? It's just completely irrelevant to our future. If people consider it a short term solution, which was essentially the term used in the rumor thread, I have to ask this -- what short term future does this team possess? We're not going to compete, regardless. Let Sweeney play. Don't delay his development. If anything, trade for Murton; someone not on the downside of their career. It'd make more sense with the lefthanders in the division.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 02:59 PM) Dye and Haeger for Billingsley and Ethier. That was easy enough. Next? Now figure out a scenario involving Mark Buehrle. There better be the next Liriano somewhere in it.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) Today and tomorrow are the final two games I'll really care about if we lose. Your attitude will turn upwards immediately if Jacque Jones remains on the South Side. What an absolutely horrendous rumor.

Boonito! Just surrender the lead, already. Every victory between now and the inevitable fire sale will only provide false hope.

Browsing through Kannapolis' game notes available on their official website, De Los Santos isn't projected to pitch any of the following three games (Fri./Sat./Sun). He hasn't started since June 13th. Either he's injured, the organization is forcing him to skip a start, or he's about to be promoted. Concerning Floyd's stellar June, I'll have to commend Williams and company if he continues pitching well. I've criticized his inclusion in the Garcia trade since the beginning. His lack of prolonged success above AA, questions of his confidence, and success in the Arizona Fall League had me wondering whether Williams had merely traded for another man-crush. As of late, whatever the Charlotte coaching staff has done with Floyd it's working. If he isn't in the rotation soon (via trade) or come September, he'll definitely be pitching in it come 2008.

I'm not familiar with the level or respective leagues of every pitcher on the international team, but DLS matches up favorably with all of them statistically. Only Henry Sosa holds an advantage. I'll be interested in watching him pitcher several weeks from now.

QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) 2007: The year Mark Buehrle threw a no hitter. 2010 looking back on 2007: The year Williams received outstanding packages for players traded during the deadline. -

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) I think Jenks is fine. I dont think he's gonna have a real long career, but I think hes fine for a couple more years. Question is, do you think we'll compete during the next several seasons? If he's gradually falling off, both in terms of velocity and health, wouldn't it be wise to trade him now knowing full well it has been obvious since 2005 he hasn't been the same pitcher. -

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:56 PM) yeah it is. Its totally based off today. theres no way you thoought that when he was cruising most of the year. Uh, not it isn't. I've been advocating a trade of Jenks for several months. -

If Boone Logan threw conventionally he would look something like Gregg. Same sort of hesitation/arm action into a delivery. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) The downfall of Jenks begins? Similar to how it began on July 9th of last season against Boston. I don't care what anyone says, Jenks should be traded before 2008 begins. His declining velocity coupled with past injuries leads me to believe his fall-off could occur within the next several seasons. Considering this team won't contend for several years, why not sell-off the most valuable trading chip? He's practically useless closing out meaningless games. This just isn't based on today, either. -

I'm personally rooting for an excruciating loss. The season's already over, may as well have fun. Perhaps get another moment out of Hawk. How about Owens reaches on a leadoff triple, then Cintron and Konerko reach base. Pierzynski and Dye proceed to strike out, whereas Mackowiak misses a GW grandslam by an inch. Game over. -

If there's anything to take from this game it's Hawk screaming his ass off. -
Williams should wait until Podsednik and Erstad are playing together for several weeks before deciding to sell anything. It's only right.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) Maybe KW's saying he's staying put because he already called all contending teams and no decent team wants any of our bad karma-ed guys except Buehrle. Nope. Refuse to believe it. I'm not letting him off the hook for refusing to sell several pieces for good packages. -

So, when this game inevitably ends in a loss we'd have to go, what, 66-26 the remainder of the season to have any chance of playoff contention? Please, let the fire-sale begin sooner rather than later. If it takes a Cubs sweep to finally get everything in motion, then I'll accept it. It's becoming ridiculous watching this team lose day after day, series after series; with people on the team and on this board continuing to have hope.
