  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) Good news keeps on rolling in, Gio lasts 3 innings tonite. Hell, why not keep it going. I'm guessing whoever is traded it'll be for absolutely nothing. That should complete the triumverate of sucktitude for today.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) I just want something to happen. They also remarked that the postgame was "interesting". I'm just really hoping something has happened. Williams has to. I don't know how he can possibly object to beginning the white-flag trade. This is pure embarrassment. You almost cringe at the thought of this current ballclub competing against Detroit and Cleveland.
  3. Why are we even giving Morneau an opportunity to hit his fourth homerun?
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Dye gone. This got a hell of a lot more interesting. You suck. It sure did. Although you can counter that by suggesting the Sox don't want old-man Dye to decrease his value any further hitting or fielding in a blowout. I almost expect the beginning of trades after these last two games. July 6, 2007 will henchforth be known as the Great Southside Massacre. The moment Williams acted.
  5. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) 1 - Will Liriano fully recover from his surgery and be the same pitcher he was last season? 2 - Will Santana be in Minny next season? 2 - Floyd's number in AAA were better than Garza's this season IIRC. That tells me something there. 1. Those are key quesitons, but concerning Tony's question, Liriano's presence (and potential for complete domination) is why Garza's past failures aren't as important to his ballclub as Floyds are to ours. 2. I honestly expect Minnesota to sign an extension. We're talking about a generational talent, here. A legitimate ace. They should find the money, and even if they don't, imagine the haul they'll receive in a trade. 3. They were, but not by much. Garza, however, has succeeded at every level.
  6. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) Thanks for the heads up Heads... I suspect either... A. BA has been traded to Florida for one of their young RPs or B. Dye is gone. Crossing my fingers for B Or he could be injured. Where's our Morneau?
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) Couldn't the same thing been said about the Twins after the Garza start? All he really had was a fastball that got rocked? Is that the best they could do? The circumstances are different because of the possibility Buehrle/Contreras are dealt. Atleast one, maybe two, starters from within will probably be in the rotation next season. Even if Garza falls off a cliff, there's always Liriano to look forward to. And that Santana guy anchoring the rotation. Another difference is Garza's minor league resume is far more impressive than Floyds. I'm atleast willing to believe Garza can turn himself around, whereas Floyd has been more of an enegma for the better part of two years.
  8. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 08:52 PM) Do you think Twin fans were acting the same way after Garza made his debut for the Twins? 2.2IP? 8H, 7ER, 2HR, 2K,2BB..... Was that the most major league ready pitcher they had at the time? It's one start. Garza didn't have anything aside from a fastball in the start you're referring to. Thus, he was demoted. Floyd doesn't have that excuse. He can't find the strikezone or locate anything that does fall within the zone. I don't care if this is Floyd's first start. He hasn't located his fastball or curveball with any consistency. Am I not allowed to give an assessment of his one start? As I said within the post, I'm not attempting to label him a bust. He doesn't improve these problems in his next start, whenever that is, it won't be pretty.
  9. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) i like how garza just gets called up from AAA and can lay a bunt down better than half our roster filled with overpaid 30 year olds... I thought the same thing. Why the hell didn't Pierzynski call a curveball? They should have known even before he came up that Garza would be bunting. If that wasn't obvious, it was more than clear when Garza set up before Floyd was in motion.
  10. What conclusions can we draw of Floyd from this start? Not anything concerning his career, but his immediate future. I'd say, for one, he can't locate his fastball anywhere but don't the middle. Second problem, his curveball can't find the plate. The last is concern is why didn't he incorporate a changeup or slider more? If this is an example of the most major league ready pitcher in our system, we're in more trouble than anyone thought. This was supposed to be our organization's strength. NICE, Floyd waited until the 6th inning to finally pitch. Too bad he's losing 6-0.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) DLS? It's sad how much of our future rests on his shoulders. He's the sole pitcher within the next three years that anyone would label as 'top of the rotation potential.' Someone to compete with the pitchers within the division. If DLS has any setback or injury, Williams better find someone outside our organization via trade.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) I am shocked nobody has brought up Broadway's name yet. Especially Flash not mentioning it. I just don't care about Broadway, anymore. If he were released tomorrow it wouldn't matter one bit. When you or anyone else puts together a future rotation, is his name ever in the discussion? He'd be a good back of the rotation filler for an NL Central team, but not for a team in the ALC. His name is just the poster child of typical White Sox drafts. That's all he is to me.
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 08:04 PM) Gavin, you're throwin some meat up there. Is this what we're teaching our minor league pitchers? You wonder how he ever succeeded with a delicious display of hanging breaking balls and fat fastballs. Williams better find quite the haul for any people traded before the deadline. I'm back to expecting a huge return, and I don't care who's traded. Surely we have a pitcher of Garza's calibur in our system, right?
  14. Prized acquisition and Williams man-crush Gavin Floyd proving Philadelphia just hasn't left him. This is just sad. I'm sorry. He doesn't look anywhere near major league ready.
  15. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 07:57 PM) man, it kills me. all garza has is a fastball but apparently that's good enough. It better not be enough, and quick. It's one thing when a pitcher has more than one plus pitch; continually keeping hitters off balance. It's quite another one a pitcher is throwing a 96 mph fastbal 75% of all pitches.
  16. Cmon, Josh. Three fastballs down the pipe and you can't make contact with one?
  17. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) where's this supposed "wicked" slider that Floyd has developed? as previously mentioned, atleast that curve is working. It's in the magical realm of fantasy where Masset's high 90's fastball and Day's 70 rated slider live.
  18. This is just terrible. Is Gavin still in Philadelphia?
  19. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 07:14 PM) Floyd's delivery reminds me of Scott Elarton's He appears to be using more of his lower body now compared to spring training, as well. Any idea of Floyd's velocity? CSN doesn't have their radar gun working.
  20. Honestly, I won't be upset if Buehrle is traded. Not that I don't believe he's a good pitcher or important to the franchise, it's just, I'm not confident we'll be in position to reach the playoffs until 2010. No one from within can replace Buehrle, yes, but I'm more confident Gonzalez can replace his production than positional prospects replacing Iguchi or Dye. Yes, even Dye and his .220 average. I will be upset if Buehrle is traded for nothing. Even considering the possibility whichever team trades for him won't resign. As has been discussed before, the various ways of collecting talent is limited with the White Sox. Williams needs to come ahead in trades. If we're offered crap for Buehrle, may as well retain him until the end of the season and take the draft picks. Whether they're for the 30 range or not.
  21. Did Poreda fall off the earth? It'd be pure White Sox if he were injured.
  22. I'm just going to assume to worst. This way, there's no possibility for disappointment Lineup: LF - Fields CF - Erstad RF - Sweeney 3B - Crede SS - Uribe 2B - Richar 1B - Konerko DH - Thome C - Pierzynski Starters: Contreras Vazquez Garland Danks Floyd Bench: Ozuna, Terrero, A. Gonzalez, Hall and some small, lefthanded (preferably veteran) Latino MIF with no bat. Whether he exists in the majors or not, we'll trade for someone fitting this discription in the minors. Bullpen: MacDougal, Thornton, Jenks, Boonito, Aardsma, Sisco
