  1. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) This will be grand.. What, no faith in management?
  2. I don't care how unlikely it is. Williams requires a tremendous haul for Buehrle if we're looking towards the immediate future with any optimism. Don't think it's possible other teams will give up top talent? Too bad. Then he needs for his scouts to identify talent in the lower levels of opposing teams. Again, I've set the expectations high and I'm not stepping down. No excuses.
  3. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) Alright, I Concede Detroit is better than the White Sox. And will be for the forseeable future. I'll say right now, if losing enough games to select #2 overall allows us to draft a pitcher of Justin Verlander's calibur I'd support it. The season is over. It doesn't matter whether we finish with 70 or 81 wins.
  4. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) former White Sox great Willie Harris was 3-4 for the Braves tonight, but the Twins won. Slowey pitched good again and got his second victory of the year Minnesota even outperforms us in the area of producing soft tossing pitchers. Pathetic. Although when Williams obtains the package I'm expecting him to receive from Buehrle, we'll have someone (or a collection of somebodies) envious of the division. Those are the standards I've set and I"m sticking to them.
  5. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) I agree completely with you that I'd rather get a more highly rated, sure-thing type prospect for Buerhle since he is one of the best pitchers in baseball. However, if teams weren't sure they could lock him up to a long-term deal, I don't know if they would give up that type of player for him. Williams honestly better receive a stellar return for Buehrle, if traded. I'm not even accepting excuses. If we're not willing to pay accordingly for talent in the FA market (which we may this offseason, although I doubt it), fail to draft players whose stock has fallen due to signability concerns, or develop players abroad; then acquiring prospects is likely our best option for improving the ballclub. It's the responsibility of our scouts to identity talented players for other ballclubs producing in Single A or Advanced A level leagues. Favorable trades typically involve prospects from these levels. I'm setting expectations high. In future seasons, I should heard people include the package received for Buehrle in accordance with Bartolo Colon and Victor Zambrano. Get to work, Williams. I'm expect whomever acquired to be producing on this ballclub by 2009.
  6. Just to remind everyone of our position in the standings, we're currently 9 games out of the division lead and 8 out of the wild card lead with eight teams to jump. Our streak of avoiding Top 10 selections in the draft is looking to be in jeopardy.
  7. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) as if brian andersons stock hadnt been bad enough with a terrible showing in the bigs last year, his .735 OPS at AAA is really beginning to suggest that hes looking more like joe borchard than aaron rowand Another first round selection shaping up nicely.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) They will totally f*** up a top draft pick as well. Because we dont deal with Boras, so getting a top 5 pick will be worthless because all of the good players that are impact guys we will pass on. Either they'll select someone much higher than expected because of signability concerns, or we'll hear analysts suggest the upcoming 2008 draft is the worst in recorded history. I'd love to see a Tim Lincecum, Andrew Miller, Jarrod Parker type fall into our laps next season. But of course, we're probably going to get screwed somehow.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) I guarantee this team doesn't win more than 75 games. We're that bad of a team, and we have a ton of games left against the Tigers and Indians. But it's because we have so many games remaining within the division that Williams can't give up hope. We can turn this around.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) Not trading Crede officially moves to #1 on the "things that will be mentioned as to why KW was fired" list, whenever that happens. I'm hoping somewhere up on that list won't be "receiving nothing useful for Buehrle"
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) So get used to Fields. How long do you think it'll take for him to eclipse .220, September?
  12. QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 09:08 PM) Word has relayed thru WSI and from the score that Crede is having back surgery tomorrow. Me thinks we've seen the last of Joe in a Sox uniform. Awesome. Not only will he leave this organization without compensation, but it's obvious his trade value is nonexistent. Considering Fields would have replaced him next season, there's one less trading chip. Williams needs to receive huge huals for any players dealt. Young talent needs to be injected into our system somehow.
  13. I heard we're facing someone named Cole Hamels. He's bad, right? How does he compare with pitchers in our organizaton?
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 08:44 PM) Nice effort guys. Nice. You finally beat me.
  15. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 08:33 PM) Plus tonight, Josh Fields in 2006, 3 for 20, for 2007, he's almost back to .150 this season, at .143. According to Williams, other then calling him a "future All-Star" he labeled him as "more than ready." I assume that means he should be ready to produce immediately, and not looked overmatched by Adam f***ing Eaton.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) Gonzalez sucks. Add him to the list of failed callups. You'd think it's impossible to experience immediate production judging from our system.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:15 PM) Our minor league development needs to be terminated as a group. Low and away is poison. Its like no one in the International league can throw away. The failures of Sweeney, Anderson, Owens, and (up until this point) Fields have highlighted an abysmal track record of producing talent. It's honestly pathetic. We're in the wrong division to experience what we've gone through.
  18. It's time to seriously consider it, Williams. Not to necessarily trade away everything now, but if someone blows us away with a package for either Dye or Buehrle, it may be wise to think about approving it.

  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 05:55 PM) http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...msbaax_biraax_1 Egbert with a s***ty game. 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 6 BB, 6 K, 1 HR Valido 0-6. That's quite an accomplishment to surrender six hits and six walks and only give up 3 earned runs. When he wasn't striking out batters he was enducing groundballs.
  21. Best offensive prospect and future all-star Josh Fields with another poor Ab.
  22. Future All-Star Josh Fields again embarrassing the minor league system. It's getting a little ridiculous how everyone who comes up, regardless of their domination in AAA, looks overmatched.
  23. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) Here comes our prospect Fields. C'mon Josh, show 'em how it's done. Future All-Star Josh Fields missed a fastball right down the middle. Again. Chat. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?autocom=chat
