Blue Jays beating the Twinkies 6-1
Flash Tizzle replied to CSF's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Updates anyone? -
Today's game is by far the "ugliest" win of the season. 4/28 vs. Cle: Sox score 5 runs in the bottom of the ninth to erase an 8-4 deficit. Joe Crede scores the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Sandy Alomar. As late as the 7th inning, White Sox were trailing 8-2.

Damn, if only Illinois-Chicago would adopt some club like this. It would be great since I notice so many Sox fans walking around campus.

Soxheads start the game thread for tomorrow
Flash Tizzle replied to WSoxShuf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We can't all get caught up in the bad luck, good luck "karma" with starting game day threads. Granted begood is 0-4, but if he were to start every thread from this point on he'll more then likely end up with a decent record (thats saying the sox end the season above .500). -
The Beast returns from his suspension with aspirations of changing his image. SOLID. Welcome back.

Here's an interesting website that debates the topic of macro evolution. It also includes the hemoglobin debate (word for word from another website) in which a biologist attempts to answer the question of hemoglobins transformation. The response is too long to post here, but through the link (about 1/4 down page) it begins with the letter titled "Jerry, Leroy Ortiz writes"...... http://www.jerrypournelle.com/alt.mail/evolution.html

If you were confused by E it means to number of 0's after a number. 10 E 17 of course is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 1 quintillion. I have no idea how they calculated those numbers and was hoping somebody (flasoxjim?) has a rebuttal. Remember hearing this in Genetics last year and searched google for the exact question.

Hows about Carmen DeFalco (of ESPN 1000) as replacement for him some day? I love Hawk (don't want to think of a game without him), but we all know he won't be broadcasting Sox games forever.

Evolution buffs: I would appreciate your comments on the Hemoglobin debate, and how it assumes some sort of divine intervention might of been necessary for humans to properly evole: ... human hemoglobin is a string of 574 amino acids of 20 varieties. There are 10E 654, different ways to combine these amino acids. That is kind of meaningless all by itself, but consider this: It is thought by evolutionary proponents that life began 2,500 million years ago, which is still a very long time. However, the number of seconds since life began is 10e 17. The number of seconds since the big bang 5000 million years ago is 10E 18. The number of stars in the universe is 10E 22. The number of atoms in the universe 10E 80. The improbability of hemoglobin occurring by random selection is 10E -654. I'm not a math major, but that looks like 0 to me.

I don't doubt the existance of God, I just don't believe any of the bible stories.

Here's some proof to validate this argument. Genetics have proven there is over a 99% similarity between primate (specifically Chimpanzee) and human DNA. http://24hour.sacbee.com/24hour/healthscie...p-6219132c.html Far as Noah Ark, I remember Discovery Channel running a special on what could be the "object" located on Mt. Ararat. Up to the time the program was made (I'm guessing late 90's) the U.S. government wouldn't de-classify aerial photos of the moutain terrain in which the strange "object" was to be located. It sure didn't help that the Turkish government was denying researchers access to the mountain. Why would the U.S. withhold pictures of the mountain and Turkey prevent any expeditions? Could it be that there is NOTHING on top of Ararat and U.S. was doing everything it could (including persuading Turkey) not to allow anyone to find out the truth. Maybe the absense of Noah Ark would be yet another example of how the bible is proven false. (Remember how God created the world in seven days) Whatever the prior excuse for withholding information/access to the mountain, what is going to happen when those mountaineers find nothing but a big f***ing chunk of ice? I'm very interested in how this story progresses. I'm sure Christian leaders across the world are paying very close attention.

Mariotti has claimed many times he would sue Hawk for slander. After today's show he no longer has the luxury of using that line, as Hawk could have solid evidence of Jay imcriminating his character. On ESPN1000 this morning Jay made several demeaning claims: 1. Hawk has slept with members on the other radio station; 670 the score. 2. In the future Jay is going to stomp on Hawks grave. (If anyone here want's to prove me wrong go ahead, but I swear that's what I heard him say) 3. The attendance problem apparently can be directly attributed to hawk. Sox need to find a hip, young broadcaster who doesn't use broken English such as HE Gawn. 4. Hawk constantly sounds like he's constipated in the broadcasters booth.

I was thinking of Around the Horn's very own Woody Paige. He writes for the Denver Post, and he's appears to be a crazy bastard who is probably responsible for outlandish articles.

Not surprising. This is exactly what happens when you remove women from their natural environment (kitchen) That mother should recieve a jail sentence, the daughters; juvenile detention. Where was the husband to put his foot down and suppress these broads?

I almost forget how much enjoyment I recieve from watching the Cubs getting their asses handed to them. Cub fans should of expected this would happen, afterall they've been feasting upon inferior NL Central/East talent this entire month. Big Unit is filthy, embarrassing Cub hitters every at bat. And that bomb that Sexson hit fricken knocked out bulbs on the jumbotron in Center field. Corey Patterson didn't even flinch after that ball left Sexsons bat, it was absolutely crushed. 9-0 DB Top of the 8th.
-
No doubt he is a White sox fan, but he differs from all of us because he's not a "Cub hater." His show tonight is dedicated to taking phone calls and asking the viewers what the White Sox biggest rival is; nothing new.

Solid post dymaxia. The above selection (esp. the concluding sentence) is exactly what happened in the days leading up to Spring Training. Over the offseason the media was picking apart Ozzie's quotes he made during his introduction as manager, in which he said Frank was going to play "his way." Media LOVED it, just another excuse to egg on Thomas and start a battle between former teammates. For the following months Sox fans would endure column after column speculating why Frank was ignoring phone calls from Ozz and KW. "Frank Thomas is in isolation, no doubt ignoring the media because he is the Big Skirt. From contracts which he labels 'insulting' to his battles within the media, Frank and Ozzie are just a disaster waiting to happen." :dips*** Mariotti alone was anticipating some blow up, probably so he can yet again find an excuse to insult JR and label the Sox organization as toxic waste. Day before Spring Traininig arrives, and what happens (to the shock of the media)? Frank Thomas stealthy reports into Arizona and cameras records the first images of Frank and Ozzie exchanging hugs and laughs. From that moment a collective sigh of disappointment is heard throughout Chicago media outlets. The didn't get their story, but Mariotti sure as hell did. Next day writes a rather demeaning article highlighting past episodes by Frank; ending the article with a bold prediction that some time in the future Frank will begin complaining again. Before two weeks ago every thing was fine in Soxdom. Thats until contract negotiations with Magglio became the top priority of the White Sox. Now Frank begins to open his mouth and complain about his "unfair" paycheck, while Mariotti gleefully expresses his displeasure in Frank while pointing out he predicted this all along. Media tried to create friction between Ozzie and Thomas, and because that hasn't been to their satisfaction its time to distort Franks "salary issues" and Ozzies "obsession with the Cubs." f*** them. If the Sox continue to play winning baseball those jokers (preferably moronitti) will have to ignore the downfalls of the sox and concentrate on the team. Though I doubt anything would change with Mariotti if the Sox made it to the world Series. That would mean he has to eat the proverbial crow and dispel any comments he made towards penny pinching Reinsdorf. Instead, he'll dig up old articles of the Black Sox scandal and note the similarities between the two teams. Sorry for the rant people. This topic of media unfairness towards our club aggravates the hell out of me....

It does make him look like a baby, but in this instance I don't support what Mariotti wrote. Every Sox fan on this site knows Mariottis agenda: highlight every downfall of the team, organization, manager, fans, ballpark, and exploit it. Once again, he uses another Sox blunder (Ozzie complaining about the media coverage in this instance) as another excuse to jab at the White Sox. He labels himself as an impartial observer to this team.....who the hell is he fooling? Saying Mark Prior can "alter baseball history", what bulls*** is that!? Oh, and I loved his comments about Hawk Some of you may believe this whining serves no good, but I believe it does help us in atleast one area. Complaining about coverage tells these media outlets that both the Sox and its fans are not impervious to becoming overshadowed. No more 4 page, full color features of a 10-2 Cub loss (Where Sosa hits two solo shots) when the Sox win 7-3 over their division rivals Minnesota on the same night. I would be one of the first to admit that the Cubs deserved more coverage after coming with 5 outs of the world series, and then upgrading on almost every aspect of their team. But when Mariotti comes out and tells his readers that the Sox should stop whining (when he's responsible for the hype machine and ridiculous biased columns) it lends him zero credibility. Ozzie is first and foremost a Sox fan. He has finally relayed onto the media what nearly ever Sox fan is thinking: White Sox are second to the Cubs in this city, and have been for a long time. Because they have ONE f***ing stellar season in their existance all of the sudden the media has an excuse for blushing over the Cubs. :fthecubs

Game Thread-Sat 4/24 vs D-Rays @1:05 Central
Flash Tizzle replied to Be Good's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Note to everyone: Begood creates another game day thread and we ignore it. Recently, Sox are beginning to outslug themselves instead of hitting. We've all seen it the last few years: Sox look to the HR for their runs and when it doesn't arrive they transform into corpseball tactics. Ozzie needs to chew these guys out and tell them because they're playing TB it doesn't mean its time to pad their stats. -

Weak thread tonight . Suppose everyone is doing something important, with the attendance low and 7 members browsing the thread. If anyone wants to chat, several of us are in the chat room provided by whitesoxcentral.com -

4/23 Game Thread: Sox vs. D-Rays

Ah s***, here we go. You know some jagoff in the media is going to AGAIN compare the near sellout in Wrigley to the emptiness of the Cell. -
Makes sense; that could be the only explanation why Jay Mariotti's column is given an entire page on the back cover.
