This scene is almost written for a triple play to occur.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 07:06 PM) If people can't take a 10-17 start, there is no way they will be able to stand years of no chance when the season begins, and there is zero guarantee if the White Sox organization focused their resources entirely on the draft and development, that they would be successful. In fact, the odds would be against them. Then they'll just have to continue losing until they figure it out.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 06:51 PM) If the Sox cannot select the correct players who have track records, how are they going to build from within through drafting unknowns? Who have they drafted have they basically stolen? Who have they developed? They do not have the personnel in management to get this done. I agree with SS2K5 here, although 20 may be a little high. What makes them Tampa Bay (who were bad a real long time) vs. Pittsburgh or KC who have been bad even longer? They go to a real low payroll, unless their recognizing talent in the draft and developmental program improves dramatically overnight, it will be closer to 20 years than the 3 or 4 most who choose this way figure it will take. It's not the idea of just building from within, because they'll never do that alone. But we will NEVER learn the value of developing a system unless we're forced into it. If knocking down the team, having 5-6 years of putrid baseball forces them to fix their faults I'll accept it. Because when it begins to turn around and this team begins competing, the payroll will increase but we will also have the benefit of a quality system to offset the salaries of more expensive players.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) Agree 100% with you. This team just goes out on the field trying to find new ways to lose it seems. I know I'm a critical bastard, but yesterday when I said how we suck in every aspect of the game, even the optimistic posters couldn't think of something we're good at. I just hope KW and Ozzie and Buddy Bell are shown the door, along with Walker. People will reply that if we undergo a rebuilding effort the crowds will go away and our payroll will sink. Yes, that's true -- but also, at the point when we're fielding a good team, with a whole new set of names, they will return. If there's any one thing you can say, without question, that has been absent this last decade it's a contributing minor league system. Having a 90 loss team shouldn't be the push needed to address this issue, but they'll never learn otherwise.

Maybe it still would have been a WP, but AJ did a piss poor job of positioning himself there.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 06:23 PM) Tillman is throwing puss. No kidding. He's throwing some meat up there. But it doesn't matter with this team.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) The soxtalk savior kalapse is waiting for all of his disciples to follow. Come on in he says. Well he would say it here... but he is too shy. http://www.soxtalk.com/chat/chatroom.html Let's do this.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) The meltdown scenario will set this franchise back 20 years. No, it wont. Thankfully that's all the insight necessary for your post, because this 20 year number was obviously an arbitrary figure of how YOU feel. Yes, we all realize you don't want to grow old and watch the Sox struggle; I've picked up that vibe for years. But admit that rather than provide a doomsday scenario of what may happen if they decide to take another direction with this team. Listen, there's no set way of winning a championship, but what they're doing right now isn't working. It may be time to try another approach rather than wait for a .700+ winning streak to set us right and give everyone false hope. Deal with it with some dignity, please.

4/20 GAME THREAD: Sox @ Rays, 5:40pm CT

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) Humber hangs far too many pitches up in the zone. We're always looking to bring back past players. It looks like Lance Broadway found his way back to our team. -

LOL this team looks atrocious. "Took a bad hop," yeah Hawk, but maybe if Alexi didn't let the ball play him it wouldn't have happened. -
White Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels 4/15, 7:10 PM CT. CSN

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) Awesome...defense costs us 2 more runs. Humber was just cruising for a bruising all game, as his command and stuff were awful. Good thing we played for one run in the bottom of the inning. If you were to view Lance Broadway pitching next to Humber you'd think they were the same pitcher. From their delivery to their underwhelming stuff, it sickens me to watch. -
Hey everyone, Kalapse is in chat! Let us all see what he has to say! And remember, this is how you get in -- click the link, hit run, and then click NO. You should be allowed in.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 1, 2011 -> 05:00 PM) Can't get in due to security parameters. Click yes that you want to run the application, and then when the next screen pops up click no. You'll be in. And for the rest of you, get in there now while there's still time in this game.

Has anyone seen Insidious? I've been hearing positive reviews from several of my friends.
-
It better get interesting, quickly. I'm growing bored watching these people angrily shake their shoes in the air. And please, save me the self righteous attitude of acting like you all don't deep down agree with me.

Real jobs don't take snow days. I'll be on the road early tomorrow before my 7am start. See you all out there!

I purchased an Android phone (Huawei Ascend) through Cricket several weeks ago, pay $60 dollars a month for unlimited texts/phone calls/internet service, and have to say it has been an outstanding choice thus far. Neither the phone nor the service get much respect with Iphone and others overshadowing them, but I have to say I've been satisfied.

On Halloween I recorded a five part series on IFC called "The Dead Set" (read the review on Bloody Disgusting, it was posted recently). I'm only through the first episode, but it's definitely in the 28 Days Later mode of running zombies and shaky cinematography. I wouldn't know where someone would pick it up, but it's atleast something to keep you occupied between Walking Dead episodes.

Nice, I didn't expect Jacob's Ladder to be on there. It was my #7 movie. IMO, the movies high up on the list are the most interesting for me (even if it only takes 3/4 votes to earn a spot) because you figure the top 10 will include mostly well known titles. The horror films around here are the type of genre specific movies which appeal to some, but not most.
-
Haha, so my #1 and #4 are already off the list; and looking above my #6 (Session 9) and #8 (IT) are as well. I listed 25 and I wouldn't be surprised if aside from the four I already know are accounted for, only two others will make the list.
-
20. Troll -- on everyone's list
-
It'll be interesting after the countdown is complete seeing everyone's lists. I have quite a few movies that many wouldn't consider in their top 100, but they're among my favorites because they're entertaining more than being legitimately scary.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 01:35 AM) De-nied. That one is going to sting for quite a while. f***. I know this is awhile back, but here's my advice for anyone in the future -- What I've learned personally, and from others, is that if a woman is interested in you she will let you know. These indicators of interest will not be unmistakable, either. She'll initiate conversations with you constantly. She'll want to be around you. She'll do everything to get the ball rolling with the two of you. I feel that guys makes the first move, but women provide everything up to that moment. Looking at Soxfan1's post, you can sense that he had doubts. I believe everyone who does that feels that way, but there's a part of them that expects the woman to go, "YES, I FEEL THE SAME WAY TOO!"

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Scenario: Dancing in a bar with a girl you are halfway interested in, she wants to start singing the song and gaze into your eyes as she does so. You don't know the words to any of the songs so you continue dancing anyway. She leaves you and then later on you find that she's connecting better with a guy that is looking back at her and singing it with her. What do you do for the future? Just dance and grind the whole night and don't ever look at her face? You can't prepare for that. I know if I were you in that situation I'd probably joke around about how much I hated the song, even if I didn't. Just to see how she reacted to it. It's better than shrugging my shoulders and saying "I don't know this song," or just avoiding eye contact. Whatever happens, it's best not to be flustered or nervous. Stop caring so much what people think about you, because if you haven't noticed, the goofiest people are the ones women want to be around.
