  1. LaRoche was a big dbag and a horrible player for us, so I don't mind the slandering of him.
  2. Clarkin is a lefty starter who has looked really solid so far in his 2 starts. Polo could be a 4th OF. This trade is looking like a big time win.
  3. I'm sorry my friend, but you must have seen the date incorrectly. Today is April 10, not April 1. Abreu is nowhere near HOF calibur. Not even close. Soxtalk overrates Abreu like crazy.
  4. The title of the article even says he is trolling. Not sure how people missed that and thought he was serious lol.
  5. What Todd Steverson has been able to do with our hitters has been extraordinary. Hitters are finally flourishing, including those who weren't surefire prospects. Matt Davidson looks like a whole different guy. Adam Engel appears to not be a completely atrocious hitter anymore. Tim Anderson has developed nicely. Avi has become a stud. It is time to give this guy a little credit. I'm not trying to give him all the credit for these players improving, but the adjustments he is having the hitters make seem to be paying off. Is it time to lock him up for the near future?
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 10:52 PM) I'm not sure what I want. I'm just surprised a guy bangs three homers and there's little more than a yawn. What if he woulda hit four? Would he have gotten some unrequited love on here or still a lot of ... he can't keep it up. He's at best a 100 game a year guy on our next WS contending team? If his value gets high enough I hope they trade him for prospects
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 10:42 PM) The only way I could see a problem would be if a team specifically hired a family member within 1 year's time of a college draft...for that very reason (not unlike bringing a family member onto a college basketball coaching staff to ensure a recruit's commitment). Thomas has been with the White Sox for at least two decades, right? Truth. White Sox used this same trick to dupe teams into not drafting Kenny William's son. They swooped in like bandits and stole him in the later rounds.
  8. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 07:33 PM) The White Sox would be in very serious hot water if they did that given the duplicitous nature of it. Is it against the rules for a prospect to tell teams he has no intention of signing with them if drafted, with the exception of one team? Say the kid thinks college is the better route, with the exception of getting drafted and signed by the white sox. I see no issue with this.
  9. It's ok to admit you were wrong DA. You dont need to argue your opinion to the death.
  10. Hmmm that would explain Jose's weight loss and resurgence last year. Maybe he's been juicing.
  11. The Sox would be nuts to give yolmer the job over yoan. Yoan has one of the highest ceilings in the entire majors. He proved himself last season. The dude is the future of the sox. Don't see any issue with this.
  12. Greg doesn't want the sox to win a world series. Hed rather the sox go back to the 2005-2016 approach where Kenny sells off all the prospects and fields fringe playoff teams with "entertaining" bozos like Ozzie Guillen amusing him.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 09:45 AM) I want to see a birth certificate before he steps on the mound in a Sox jersey! I know some people over in philadelphia who are studying his birth certificate, and they cannot believe what they are finding. The guy simply has to show his birth certificate.
  14. In 2016, the professional major league baseball team he played for located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania successfully won 37 games when he pitched the final inning of a game with the team leading by at most 3 runs. Nice!
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 07:09 PM) I totally get where you are coming from. I sort of feel similarly about Abreu. Dude sucks. Yet everyone seems to think he provides some kind of value. Guy strikes out in all the big time plate appearances that I can remember. When has Abreu ever hit when it matters? Great rookie campaign. Since then, he constantly craps the bed when the sox are in the playoff hunt.once they are out and the pressure is off, he hits again. He had the best year of his career (minus his rookie year, but the league figured him out and adjusted to him after tgat) when the sox were clearly tanking and had no expectations. Add that to his poor defense, and you get a massively overrated player around these parts. DA uses this logic to hate on soria, but he would never do it to his boy Abreu
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 12:35 AM) Interesting thing about all 3 is that they're fomer first rounders who I could easily see busting, becoming solid contributors, or being all-star. Really going out on a limb here huh
  17. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 04:46 PM) Yeah, HS pitching and pitching in general is supposed to be super deep. Kind of one reason I want us to go position with #4 because we could probably find a good pitching prospect in the second round. I feel ya, but you go with a pitcher if you think they are the better player. I trust this organization with pitchers more than I do hitters. You can always trade pitchers for positional prospects, as we saw with the Quintana trade. With the way some of these pitchers look, I can see the Sox taking a pitcher 1st round. Hell, if it is that deep with pitching prospects, take a pitcher 1st and 2nd round, if they are the best players there/ The draft is way too far away to realistically predict that though, obviously.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 03:47 PM) Currently the board is heavily tilted with fans of the front office, close to them doing no wrong (there are some posters not crazy bout the Rutherford trade, but that's been about the only dissent). This trade is fine cause I never heard of the guy we gave up and the one reliever may be useful. I would have been silent on the trade cept for the fact Soria has pitched out here and fans hate him as much as I did Rios. There's also the backup quarterback syndrome again and the lure of the mysterious. Plus apparently Soria's peripherals are still good. I still think blowing 7 saves is a decent chunk. You know, everybody talks about his one horrid outing exploded his ERA. Doesn't it go both ways? How many times did he enter in a 7-1 game and pitch 1-2 perfect innings and those numbers also have to be included. I trust you all that his peripherals are OK to good and he could improve. I said in my initial thread never underestimate Coop. I actually hope I'm wrong. If Soria returns to the old old Soria form and he's our closer and we are saving game after game, cool. White sox win the pennant would be fine with me! Nobody has been critical of Kenny Williams? How about the James Shields trade?
  19. Is this supposed to be a stacked year as far as pitching goes? I'm just surprised to see Hankins ranked 3rd among HS pitchers (presumably, by Eric L), let alone all pitchers who will be eligible. The dude has DYN-O-MITE stuff.

  21. QUOTE (fredmanrique @ Dec 24, 2017 -> 02:48 PM) I wonder if Hahn is sniffing around the situations the Yankees care about in an attempt to get Torres. We could take back part of the ellsbury contract, include prospects or abreu depending on the situation. for instance, the Yankees won't include Torres for Cole, but maybe they do for Cole and abreu if it also sheds Ellsbury. Abreu would be a heck of a dh on that team. pirates - Frazier, Chance and Spencer Adams sox - Torres, Ellsbury Yankees- Cole, Abreu it's a lot for one prospect and moves Anderson to center, but interesting Sox aren't getting Torres for Abreu, Adams, and chance the rapper imo. Even with ellsbury contract.
  22. The Marlins got hosed with the ozuna trade because they wanted to dump salary. Hahn needs to look hard at a yelich + prado trade. This would make things much more enticing for Machado. The sox can package a top prospect with some depth and make a good offer. Hopefully yelich demands a trade. He is definitely unhappy there.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 22, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) When you say 20-30 and 30-40, are you referring to in the Sox system, or in the MLB? White sox prospects
  24. QUOTE (pablo @ Dec 22, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) And like the Yankees as well - they were in on alot of trade candidates last couple years even though they were in a "rebuild" period. The Sox have a few untouchable prospects IMO - Moncada, Jiminez and Kopech. Everyone else should be on the table if it betters your long-term future. The Yankees similarly are keeping Torres off limits in just about any trade. They seemed to have the same mindset with Frazier last year but the Stanton deal changes that. Solid point. QUOTE (pablo @ Dec 22, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) Also - I wonder if a Marlins rebuild might focus on acquiring depth rather than stars. The Sox more or less had to sell the fan base on a rebuild and targeted top-end prospects in most of their deals - probably except for Eaton but I don't think we could have expected Robles in return. The Marlins won't have this issue. Their fans already know this is a rebuild. A Marlins rebuild might look more like the Padres - trade some veterans for depth and scour the international FA market to build a really deep system. Not saying the Marlins won't want Eloy or Kopech, but they might be open to three or four guys rather than just one. The Ozuna trade kind of gives off that vibe too. Also an interesting idea. Piggybacking on the salary dump idea- Prado and Chen are the 2 dumpable contracts they have (Prado 2/28M, Chen 3/52M). The Sox have the ability to easily absorb one of them. Yelich is a 4.5 WAR CFer under contract at 5/58M. The guy has crazy surplus value. The Sox take on Prado or Chen and he is still worth an elite prospect and a top 100 prospect. Marlins trade: Yelich Chen Whitesox trade: Leury Garcia Lopez/Giolito one 20-30 ranked sox prospects one 30-40 ranked sox prospect ---- Marlins trade: Yelich Prado Whitesox trade: Leury Garcia Lopez/Giolito two 20-30 ranked sox prospects one 30-40 ranked sox prospect Only thing i question is if I'm overvaluing lopez/giolito in these trades. They have essentially the same amount of control as Yelich, and if they are good, won't be too much cheaper when you consider arbitration years. The marlins need to field some talent, and Leury can help with their loss of outfield and infield players. They get high end prospects as well as some depth. Chen's contract is really bad. He has had Tommy Johns and is having more elbow issues.
