I'd be happy with that because it would show improvement and still a top 10 pick most likely.

The Next Wave - White Sox prospects to watch outside the T25
GGajewski18 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
My favorites: Braulio Ortiz - Really had a strong last couple months last year. Brandon Brennan - Comming back from TJ. Thaddius Lowry - Young LHP who has some good potential. Will he start in Kannapolis? Brad Goldberg - We'll probably see him in AAA by the end of the season if he does well like last year. Kevin Vance - I'll be interested if he can manage his control better. One name that I'm interested in that you didn't name is JB Wendelken (we acquired in Peavy trade). He had a pretty good year with Winston Salem last year, still young, and I think he can be a good bullpen option too. -
Santana would cost the Sox a 2nd round draft pick, so I don't think Hahn will be interested in that.

Rumor out there that Rays are discussing a trade with the Nationals about Jose Lobaton. Sox were rumored to go and get him. Just figured I'd bump this and see what you guys think what will be the next move for Hahn.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) Jason Parks just said he's got the Sox as the #19 system in baseball. I put my conversation on him about the Sox farm system in the Anderson thread if you want to take a look at that.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 04:51 PM) If/when he does respond, it will likely be loving Davidson, liking Abreu but not sure overall just due the size of the contract and the profile of Abreu as a 1B, non-athletic player, and a large amount of indifference on Nieto because it's a Rule 5 pick and Rule 5 picks are always so meh. Not as high on Davidson but said power bats at 3B are valuable commodity. Didn't say anything about Abreu or Nieto but he likes our system and says improving as you can see about the tweets we had back and forth. I'm very excited for this upcoming season, both in the majors and minors.

Jason Parks @ProfessorParks 21h Yes. Very high ceiling. Raw at present but loud tools. RT @SpaldingBalls @ProfessorParks could Tim Anderson be an All-Star? That's what Jason Parks said about Tim Anderson. Love hearing this about our prospects.

No more days until Pitchers and Catchers reports
GGajewski18 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know the Sox probably won't be too good this year with all the young talent. But, I am so excited to see all these young guys go through their ups and downs. Like we've said, Hahn has had a great off season so far and I can't wait to watch some new blood at the ball park this year. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 01:23 PM) #1) If this team is going to compete or resemble something close to competitiveness, Dunn will be needed. He shouldn't play much versus lefties this year with Konerko on the roster, but they have absolutely no chance without him. #2) There is a chance that, with a good first half, some of Dunn's contract can be saved in a trade. #3) Who are you reasonably going to replace him with that is going to do or be anything of significance? I think they are probably trying to work out trades to get him off the team, but they don't want to eat $15 million just to get rid of him. He's still a useful player. I completely agree with everything you have stated. Makes no sense right now, unless a team is willing to eat the whole 15 million.

2013-14 off season player movement thread
GGajewski18 replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
Cubs sign SP Jason Hammel to a 1 year deal worth a reported 6 million. Per Rosenthal -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) I think I read that Hawkins and Tim Anderson will both be at High A Winston Salem. Winston Salem will be a fun team to watch this year as I believe May and Barnum will also start there. To go along with Hawkins, Cose, Goldberg and DeMichele.
-
QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 09:19 AM) Also consider Semien being around some top 100 lists and Courtney Hawkins certainly having the potential to re-enter the top 100. Not bad. A possible long shot but another solid year, I think Chris Beck can crack the top 100 too.
-
Pretty solid write ups. I'd take above average defense from Anderson considering everyone knew his defense was below average when Sox drafted him.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 27, 2014 -> 05:49 PM) Santana affords them the ability to deal Danks. Hahn has said that he does not want to add free agents that don't fit the long term plan through free agency especially that cost a draft pick. Also, Hahn mentioned that the way to win in his mind and I completely agree with is from within your own organization.
-
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jan 26, 2014 -> 11:27 PM) I mean, Hahn himself said something similar on the Score yesterday. He just said no SPs that cost a draft pick. I'd love to see what Coop can do with Tommy Hanson.
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 26, 2014 -> 11:24 PM) Not surprised at all... A lot can happen in 5 weeks, especially since a lot of the market was caught in a two week tanaka cog. I really think we see De Aza and Keppinger traded. I also think Hahn will somehow Jason Castro.
-
Hahn will not go after any pitching via free agency this year. Next year's pitching class is loaded and I can totally see Hahn getting a pitcher next year.

CF Adam Eaton SS Alexei Ramirez 1B Jose Abreu C Jason Castro RF Avasail Garcia DH Adam Dunn/Paul Konerko LF Dayan Viciedo 3B Matt Davidson 2B Gordon Beckham

Not sure if this was posted or not but this is an interesting Merkin tweet that RV said, Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 2h Under the radar comment from Ventura at end of SoxFest: How the roster looks today is not necessarily how it will look at the end of ST
-
Coop basically said that Erik Johnson is all but guaranteed a spot in the rotation next year. Nothing new, just reiterating what he said.
-
I see why some don't like it and why some like it. Me personally, I like it because like others have mentioned, it gives stability to the young guys through this rebuild. Remember, we have young guys that are wiling to prove themselves now, now that they finally have a chance to play everyday unlike Rios and Keppinger last year (I think Davidson will start at 3B).
-
Damn it. At least cubs didn't get him.
