  1. Hahn really wants to build from within, even mentioned Chris Beck for the rotation.
  2. Mentioned Erik Johnson and Semein as key pieces to the future from within the system.
  3. Hinted that he only targeted 1 catcher in free agency, and it was McCann
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) Tanaka's going to make his announcement live and start to put on a Cubs hat then say "psych" in Japanese and switch it with a Sox lid. It's gonna be so cool. As an Illinois fan, that Cliff Alexander move was so classless.
  5. Hahn is gonna announce the signing in his interview on STL tonight. That would be sick
  6. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 09:06 AM) 田中将大/MASAHIRO TANAKA ‏@t_masahiro18 13m 決めれん(・_・; english translation is, It does is decided (· _ · What? He has decided?
  7. Or the mystery team could be White Sox....
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 09:29 PM) Right. So how is that possible? They go supersonic from chicago? Any update Rock?
  9. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 06:03 PM) Wouldnt it be great if hahn announces the Tanaka 2morrow on csn sportstalk live That would be amazing. I'd go nuts. I still like that we are not hearing a lot about the White Sox in the media. I think Hahn can get it done.
  10. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 06:58 AM) I had a bunch of guys over for the football games yesterday, including a couple of zealots from Boston. The word they got from their contacts there is Tanaka will go to either Scrubs, Yanks, or Dodgers. All FWIW. Decision Day is Friday. Sox have a shot.
  11. A signing of Tanaka within the next week and then a trade for Castro and I begin to REALLY optimistic about next year.
  12. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 11:17 AM) That would be so amazingly awesome. Especially if we didn't have to trade Q & could build a deal around Johnson. Sale-Tanaka-Q-righty nobody cares about-Danks with Castro behind the plate... f*** yeah. I agree with you. If Hahn were to manage to get Tanaka, I would definitely build a package around Erik Johnson for Jason Castro. But even without Castro, with the potential of adding Tanaka, a rotation of Sale, Tanaka, Quintana, Danks and Johnson. Tell me that's not one of the better rotations in baseball.
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 10:06 AM) Ty Youngfelt ‏@TyYoungfelt 4h Hearing Dodgers unlikely to match Cubs offer, instead using geographical, team strength issues as selling points to bridge gap... Ty Youngfelt ‏@TyYoungfelt 1h As of a week ago, Yankees have lowest bid, D'Backs, Dodgers within +/- 8M of each other...hearing Yanks adjusted/matched-Cubs +20-30 over Ty Youngfelt ‏@TyYoungfelt 1h To clarify- Yankees matched D'Backs offer of 115, not Cubs offer... Ty Youngfelt ‏@TyYoungfelt 40m @MudderFudder77 Have not heard nothing on Sox, at all, have the $ tho... This guy writes for the Pioneer Press and has had info in the past. I mean I would love to see what Sox are offering, but I'm glad it's not out there just yet. I think Sox have a legit shot at him.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) I'm on break right now. Why are there like six new pages? What happened? There's no favorite yet. Despite all these rumors. Heyman did write an article today saying Cubs and Sox are serious contenders for Tanaka
  15. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 17, 2014 -> 12:09 PM) Cbs sports/ jon heyman Sox seen as threat http://mweb.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-h...o-beat-yanks-la Get it done Hahn.
  16. Starks is reporting that the Cubs are going hard after Tanaka. Angels involved too
  17. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 05:28 PM) What info? That the price is too high and that the Sox Are backing off.
  18. I really think he's gonna have a break out year.
  19. Rosenthal and Cotillo reporting that Jason Castro could be a trade candidate. Hope this is true, and Hahn is in on him.
  20. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Dec 28, 2013 -> 11:23 AM) Also as long as the Sox medical staff looks over Garza & gives the OK, I'm far more comfortable giving him a deal than Tanaka. Also I think it's much likelier that he comes at a reasonable price tag than the other guys. I imagine someone will overpay for Ubaldo & I think Ervin Santana is too Gavin Floydish is give a big deal to. He's like Alex Rios the pitcher. I do agree with you on Matt Garza. He's only 30. He has had success in the American League and can be a big part of the future, giving a veteran presence in the starting rotation. A rotation of Sale, Garza, Quintana, Danks, and Johnson looks very good to me for the future. I would give him a 4 year deal worth anywhere 50-55 million.
  21. You give that money to Kershaw and with that rotation. It's just filthy. But instead of saying all that money on him, the hiring market is terrible next year. I could see Sox going after Shields or Bailey.
  22. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 25, 2013 -> 01:54 AM) In November I predicted Cano to Mariners and Tanaka to Cubs. I think they need an ace to build around. They just better hope it's not the Fukudome situation all over again. And 100+ million gone like that.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) Jose Bautista was a pretty terrible hitter too. He become one of the best in the game. Sometimes, it just takes an adjustment and getting healthy. I'm not comparing Beckham to Bautista, but the Sox may as well give Beckham another chance. He has been terrible. He's still a talented player, and the team does not appear to be competitive this year. See if you can extract value out of him at the very least. Agreed. Bautista didn't figure it out until he was 28 or 29. No reason to get rid of him now after his injury plagued season last year. And like other posters have mentioned, before injury, he had things figured out at the plate.
  24. I like this waiver claim. Gives us more options and depth for that #5 starter. Never seen him pitch but he dominates the minors, and hasn't really been healthy enough to see the MLB. Good risk.
  25. QUOTE (bear_brian @ Dec 21, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) There was some discussion a few weeks ago about Houston's possible interest in Dunn, since he is from Texas. Would a package of Dunn (with a Sox salary subsidy), Carlos Sanchez and Viciedo be anywhere close to allowing us to get Jason Castro?? I don't think so.
