How Should Rick Hahn Fix The White Sox
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) I still see Viciedo as a potential 275/35/100 guy with an OBP around 330. In this era, that's a real valuable player. He did hit 25 homers as a 23 year old in his first full season. He's the type of player you try to acquire in a rebuild and we already have him. Thank you. This is exactly what I think. This is what we're expecting out of Avi Garcia, just not that much in the power categories. Kids like Viciedo, you don't just give up on kids this young with this much potential. Everyone saw by trading Chris Davis and Tommy Hinter for 1 year of Uehera bit the Rangers in the butt big time. Hitters can figure it out later in their career at 27-29. Viciedo will be 24. Everyone of his doubters needs to relax

How Should Rick Hahn Fix The White Sox
People actually suggesting signing Grady Sizemore and playing over De Aza or Viciedo is just a horrendous idea. I don't know where to even begin of how much I hate that Idea I'm sorry. Guys, we cannot give up on Viciedo just yet. He will be JUST 24 next season. Hitters take more time than pitchers obviously so I still think we have to give him at least 2-3 more years. And I wouldn't mind that if it was DHing and playing LF.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 9, 2013 -> 06:35 PM) Jacobs PH for Semien, homered. Semien 0-4. Mitchell 2-4, HR. Two games, no Sox pitchers yet - that is odd. Bassitt, Vance, Leesman and McCray on their roster. Should see them soon. Good to see Jacobs hit a bomb. Mitchell with a solid day

If Semein could stay at third this would be perfect for the Sox. Eventually get Micah at second and trade Beckham a year or two from now. With Leury and Avi. Thi team will have major speed in 2 years. I also really think that Thompson make an impact in a couple years.

Micah Johnson works full count and walks. Then steals 2nd easily. This from Merkin. Johnson and Semein are facing Michael Roth today

White Sox outright 3
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 6, 2013 -> 05:04 PM) Brian Omogrosso has elected free agency. The 29-year-old right-hander appeared in just 12 games for the White Sox in 2013, turning in a disappointing 9.37 ERA, 2.27 WHIP and 16/9 K/BB ratio before succumbing to an elbow injury. He'll look to latch on elsewhere and compete for a bullpen spot in 2014. Per Rotoworld Really glad I don't have to see him pitch in a Sox uniform anymore

White Sox outright 3
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 4, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) That would be a lot in my opinion. Who are you thinking? I could see McDade, Rodriguez, Morel and Heath
-
White Sox outright 3
Leyson Septimo and Hector Gimenez declined assignment and has elected free agency.

White Sox outright 3
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 4, 2013 -> 01:38 PM) Wasn't Omogrosso on the 60DL? Yes he was so he wasn't on the 40 man. I can expect 3-5 more coming before free agency starts

White Sox outright 3
Bryan Anderson, Brian Omogrosso, and Ramon Trancoso. Roster now at 37

2014 Draft class
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 06:19 PM) Was told Rick really likes Trea Turner. Sees him as a possible cornerstone pick. 4/5 tools are potential plus. That is interesting. He'll be the age of Bryant coming up so he'll have to adjust quick. I don't know how I feel about him yet, have to watch him more. Bucket, have you been told of other options at 3 and free agents/possible trades?

One move...
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 11:15 AM) No 3B and no way we sign the top two catchers on the market. Yeah my bad. I forgot. No McCann and it would be Gillaspie but not in the 3 spot

One move...
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 10:47 PM) I'd want to know how the lineup was going to work, I don't like giving up de Aza or Viciedo for nothing. I would definitely trade De Aza before Tank but to who I don't know. Line up: CF Ellsbury SS Alexei C McCann RF Garcia DH Dunn C Salty 1B Abrue LF Viciedo 2B Beckham

One move...
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) Hopefully Abreu is that. How would you guys feel if the Sox got Salty,Abreu and Ellsbury. Possible? Too much money?

One move...
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 09:24 PM) Things we need: A star position player One more really good hitter We can win with that and all the potentially good hitters we already have. I'd look for Hahn to make some noise by acquiring a young star. Energize the base in one offseason. What young star hitter is available? CarGo? Stanton?

Miguel Gonzalez out-righted to AAA
And so it begins. Who's next

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 01:57 PM) Trading Santiago weakens your pitching staff to the point where it is no longer a strength. It doesn't make sense. You'd have Sale, Q and then a bunch of guys who may or may not be able to stick in a MLB rotation. Not to mention it kills depth which everyone watching this year should know you need. We lost 60% of our opening day rotation this season. Floyd and Peavy to injury (then Peavy traded) and Axelrod to ineffectiveness. No one should ever go into a season with just two known quantities in the rotation and expect to compete. Danks will be the #3 then and Johnson all but put himself into the rotation for next year. I could see the Sox signing someone like a Josh Johnson or a Tommy Hanson. If they do trade Santiago, I could see the Sox going pitcher with the #3 pick to add depth

One move...
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) Viciedo actually showed justifiable improvement in the second half. His power increased (Iso from .151 to .175), patience increased (BB rate from 4.8% to 5.4%), and control of the zone (K-Rate from 21.4% to 19.8%). He hit .291, compared to .246 in the first half. And, compared to last year, he swung at fewer pitches outside the zone (38.9% to 38.1%) and swung at more pitches in the zone (63.7% to 72.2%). He is still young and talented enough to actually become a productive member of a baseball team. I could care less what they do with Beckham though. I think it's time to give Semien an opportunity there. We basically just said the same thing. You just gave stats and I completely agree

One move...
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) What if the Sox signed Abreu and McCann and traded Santiago and something for Lawrie. How would the team stack up at that point? As bad as this team seems, a couple of hitters, guys like Viciedo, Garcia and/or Beckham stepping up, and they are a pretty good team again. Completely agree with this. Although I see Viciedo improving with the right hitting coach the most. He's still only 23 and has raw talent is still there. Yes I know the power numbers weren't there, and doesn't walk often but he still hit 266. Next year if he can hit 265 with 25 HRs and 80 RBIs that would be great. And I could see Sox trading Beckham so Semein could start at 2B.

One move...
Brian McCann and Abreu are on my wish list. Couple trades can definitely improve this team

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) I remember a couple weeks ago Bucket mentioned a possible Brett Lawrie for Quintana swap. Given the way Q finished the year and passed the 200 innings mark, I am hoping we can get more than just Lawrie for him. I do love the idea of Lawrie and hoping Hahn is pursuing a deal such as this to bring someone with energy, skill set and youth that Lawrie has. I think Santiago for Lawrie would benefit both teams and make more sense for both

Hahn:Ventura will return in 2014
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 03:50 PM) IMO, if they sign abreu, McCann, and a reliever, they can field a potentially-competitive roster and still be under $100 mil. If they can do that, I would then trade for Cargo. A line up of: SS Alexei CF Avi Garcia RF Carlos Gonzalez 1B Abreu C McCann LF Viciedo DH Dunn 3B Gillaspie/Keppinger 2B Semein/Beckham Bench Phegley Keppinger/Gillaspie Danks Garcia or Konerko That still could be under 100 million.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (Leonard of Berwyn @ Sep 28, 2013 -> 10:21 PM) How about Trumbo and Hank Conger for John Danks and Tyler Flowers? No way Angels do that. I don't think they want to add another large contract.

9/28 vs Royals
I've been really impressed with Petricka and Webb so far. I could definitely see them make the bullpen next season.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2013 -> 07:59 PM) Um, yes please Angels are looking for a good cost controlled pitcher and I think Santiago fits the bill. Trumbo would be 28 at the start of next season, so I would think the Angels would have to chip in 2 lower level players.
